Cleveland had Lebron James, Irving, Love, and Thompson, these are the key to the success of the team and they won a championship together. When Irving left the team, Lebron also did the same so it really makes a superteam suddenly a struggling team, and until now they have not recovered yet. I don't know their future plan, but they should rebuild the name by getting a star player like Lebron James to gain the support of the fans again.

Last season they were at the number 13 ranking with only 22 (W) and 50 (L)... we don't see that when Bron was still with the team.
https://www.nba.com/standings

And I don't think this is true.

Cleveland Cavaliers are steadily improving, building team on right path -- even LeBron James sees it

Yes I remember very well, that was the team when TT and Jr Smith helped the Cavs lol  Roll Eyes Grin

Yes, I don't know, I believe LeBron left the Cavs because he was practically carrying the team and so he went to the Lakers, several Cleveland fans were angry with him.

I don't doubt that, a few years from now, when Bronny James is drafted for the NBA, I will have no doubts that he can go to the Cavs, and for LeBron James to finish his career, he'll come back to the Cavs maybe to play 1 or 2 seasons together with your son (I believe that kind of thing never happened in the NBA "father and son play together on the same team")

I'm honestly rooting for the Cavs to recover and improve their team, at least to make it to the playoffs

Cleveland has always become a bad team everytime Lebron left the team, they were not able to prepare this scenario. I think they should get a real superstar like invest what the Nets have done last season to eventually be in the playoffs again. They were only a little better when Irving took over, but it's still not enough, they need to be a playoff contender and have to bring a proven NBA star player, not the one that is prone to injury and is aging.
Well remembered, when LeBron left the Cavs in 2010, Irving was drafted, brought some hope to Cleveland, after LeBron James second exit in 2018 (I think), the team level dropped dramatically and Cleveland guided to bring in followed by Collin Sexton (he's a good player and has a bright future), but unfortunately the Cavaliers aren't a competitive playoff team these days.

Well, Lebron is 36, Melo is 37, Gasol is 36, Ariza is 35, Westbrook is 32, Rondo is 35 years old, Howard is 35 years old. This is the main core of Lakers and they are all quite old, old as in the age some players even retired back in the day and I understand that today's technology allows players to train better and eat better to last a little longer but I doubt that everyone in this team could stay healthy, we are going to see a bunch of injuries.

AD is just 28, but he is also known for injuries as well so I am not too hopeful about him neither. When you look at the roster it looks like they are filled with stars, with 100% health and 100% given to the game I do not think that there is any team that even gets close to Lakers with this roster. However that 100% health is a very very risky thing and I am pretty sure it will not happen.
You're right, the Lakers' top players are over 30 years old.
But LeBron James despite his age, he's still playing VERY well, I even think that's insane as LJ's performance isn't decreasing (not drastically), he can still score well, get lots of rebounds and get many assists and he will complete 37 years in this year. This is insane!!
About Melo, I believe that as he will play with several players who are his friends, this will stimulate him and have chances for him to improve his performance (of course not like in his prime).
I still think Gasol could be a good reserve AD and Westbrook is still playing well (he still has his explosion and speed that are his hallmarks) and Rondo could be another player to help with the Lakers rotation.
By the way, in this team, LeBron James can play easily SG, SF and PF without any problem!

Darren Collison Schedules Workout With Warriors

Quote
Darren Collison has scheduled a workout with the Golden State Warriors this week.

Collison retired during the 2019 offseason and has had interest in making a return.

he had some decent record, so I think he will fit with the Lakers.
https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/collida01.html

here's the news about the retirement
https://www.nba.com/news/darren-collison-announces-retirement-nba

Just wanna post the reason.

source.
Quote
“While I still love basketball, I know there is something more important, which is my family and my faith,” Collison said. “I am one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and my faith means everything to me. I receive so much joy from volunteering to help others and participate in a worldwide ministry. The joy I feel is unmatched. With that being said, I have decided to retire from the NBA.”

Maybe he is done with his mission and again tries to start a new journey in his NBA Career.  Though he is at 30's already, I think at 34 years old he can still give something for the team especially the Warriors who are healthier this season with Klay Thompson's comeback.

No, the Cavs are trying to have a direction now that's why they want to buy out Kevin Love but he refused.
So they have no choice but to let Nance Jr. go. Kevin Love is already playing more 5 than a 4. I don't know why but perhaps he is slowing down.
They have Allen as 5, Lauri 5 or 4, Mobley 5, and Osman 4, that's a lot of big guys.
What they need most are shooters and agile small forwards. They have Rubio, Sexton, Garland for 1 and 2 but they still lack outside shooters.
Cleveland is trying to restructure, but unfortunately they are struggling with that.
Since LeBron James left, the team hasn't been the same.
I confess, I'm anxious about this transaction, there are possibilities for Love to stay in Cleveland, but I also don't doubt him leaving the team.
I also realized that some games, he was playing like 5, unfortunately Love can't play like a center because he's short and not very strong either.
Clearly he is a 4, with great skills in 3-point shots.

Larry Nance, Jr. is already 28 years old, he also wanted to play in a team that has a chance to be in the playoffs, not in the Cavaliers that are still in the rebuilding stage and they'll not effectively rebuild if they don't let go of Kevin Love. Also, maybe he is also trying to impress a playoff team so next time he will get renewed, he will get a better salary.

his last contract was a 4 year / $44,800,000.

Yep! sure. Younger and less experienced players always try to show their level of play and their potential through different ways. I believe Larry Nance Jr was already realizing that he wouldn't have a great future in the Cavs and that's why he was switched!

He's a good player, and I wish him the best

...Larry Nance Jr. publicly thanked Cleveland saying he wanted to leave the Cavs to play for a team with greater ambitions in the short term.
He's right on that one. It looks like Cavs has no clear direction now.

Goodluck to him playing with Dame and the rest of the team. He could compliment the key players with his high energy. Dame could limit his shooting near half court and just start passing the ball to him hehe.

If Blazers use him a lot and provide good ball rotations for him, CJ and Dame don't need to force shooting a lot but a good ball rotations will help them, it's depends now with the coaching staff how they will use Nance Jr.

I like him being vocal with his desire to play for another team which has great desire to be competitive, and that's not showing with Cavs.

Best of luck to him and may he find his worth playing with the team that has that competitive spirit looking to see him fitting himself to the team.

Another update regarding the Portland Trail Blazers.
In the sign-and-trade that brought Lauri Markkanen to Cleveland, the Cavaliers gave Larry Nance Jr. to the Portland Trail Blazers much to the chagrin of Cavs fans who particularly appreciated the player's contribution to the team. Larry Nance Jr. publicly thanked Cleveland saying he wanted to leave the Cavs to play for a team with greater ambitions in the short term. The player's agent considered this trade like a win-win.
Good luck then Larry.

Well, he will miss Larry Nance Jr. he's a good player (not an allstar), but I believe he's the kind of player who is always disposed to help the team.
When he played for the Lakers, he was a good player and he could make a difference in some games.

I think Markkanen can still evolve, he is young, tall and has a future potential!
Let's see how each player will evolve in the future

Larry Nance, Jr. is already 28 years old, he also wanted to play in a team that has a chance to be in the playoffs, not in the Cavaliers that are still in the rebuilding stage and they'll not effectively rebuild if they don't let go of Kevin Love. Also, maybe he is also trying to impress a playoff team so next time he will get renewed, he will get a better salary.

If Portland will not trade Lillard and he got a good help by Nance also accumulate more good players in free agency for sure Portland will be a play off contender, Although the current rooster is we can say strong so they need to work out their chemistry and other things which can give them confidence in real game time.

Also if Nance will show a good performance maybe on next free agency he will get a huge salary as he still young and got a lot of potential.

They've been playoff contender, the thing is that they can't get over the hump on the 1st or 2nd round of the playoffs. It seems that there's some pieces still missing on them. I do hope that Nance will provide that spark in Portland and give them a good chance to land in at least top 5 in the pretty much stack up West division. It will be very difficult, but not impossible. Lillard can't do it alone, he needs some help besides CJ.

A lot of hype on Larry Nance Jr when he joined the NBA, he was solid to the Lakers way back but have to be traded and unfortunately, he went to a non contender team in Cavs.

But since he is not in Portland, I do hope that we will see more of him, specially his high lights dunks as what his father was famous for while playing in the NBA.
Correct. Hype came from the surname. But he is actually good. I think. So because Love won't agree with the buyout they chose Nance to gain some space.
Not bad for the Trail Blazers as they are building for Damian Lillard. They don't need shooters, they need well-rounded big men and Nance can fill that spot.
He ain't that slow so he can keep up for a small team using transition plays.
Chemistry? I think it's okay since he is still young. Injury? The last was fractured thumb. He still have lots of room for improvement.

Because it's always Dame at the closing minutes, at least they have another options.
I doubt Nance would be a closer, it would still be Lillard or CJ but at least the team will improve defensively.

He will never be closer because he is not a star player on the team he is playing, with his stats, you can tell that he is just a role player that is only effective if the star players were able to carry the team. For how many seasons, Nance were not able to play a competitive game, he played with the Lakers with a retiring Kobe Bryant and the Cavaliers left by Lebron James, I think he was able to play with Lebron but the Cavaliers that time did not win a championship anymore.

I'm happy for him, at least he is now playing in a young team that is always consistent in getting the playoffs, maybe he will be a big help for the team as his aggressiveness is what Portland is needed down low. He can help Jusuf Nurkic not to play much especially in the playoffs as that's the reason why he is always in foul trouble because there's no other big guy that could defend the center of their opponent, especially Jokic.

I think he will be a good fit for the Blazers, but not sure if he can be the one to help Nurkic.

Nance Jr is a dribble penetrator and not an inside defender, maybe he can grab a couple of rebounds from time to time so that's a big help already. I think he will be like the replacement for Melo, coming off the bench to provide some scoring specially in closing out games.

He is still young and agressive, for sure the Blazers will benefit big time from the acquisition of Nance because Blazers are not really a good defensive team, that's why they didn't last in the playoffs and reach even the WCF. Looking at the stats of Nance Jr. https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/n/nancela02.html... not so impressive in offense, but he could contribute all around for the team.

It's a good fit for Blazers after  trading Melo, he can give some space for Nurkic as he can also play as a big man,
I remember him way back when Kobe still playing, he and Clarkson was still young back then.

They've got solid memories before Kobe leave the game, Now that he's going to play with another player who also
good offensively Dame will use him to catch the ball inside.

We don't know yet if what adjustment he needs to deal with, but good to see him playing with a contender team let see if Blazer will maximize his talents.
