Trades are coming. The Atlanta Hawks have traded Dejounte Murray to the New Orleans Pelicans for:

Bam Adebayo signed a 3-year, $166 million max contract with the Miami Heat.
This is good for Bam, he's been doing well for the Miami heat so he deserves that.

KCP is now a free agent.
Denver nuggets guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to decline player option, will become free agent

Rumors going around that the Golden State Warriors are blocking Andrew Wiggins from competing in the Olympics on Team Canada because they don’t want to take the risk of him getting injured while they try to trade him this offseason. Pretty messed up if true, but the Warriors have been pretty good to Wiggins so I guess this is him returning the favor by being silent on the issue.
I've read this as well, this is bad for Wiggins. He's got no freedom to represent his country for the Olympics and then he's the expectation that he's gonna be traded away by the Warriors.

The Murray move seems a lot like the Hawks are throwing in the towel and rebuilding. I wonder if Trae Young is next… I think we’ll probably see Trae Young traded if you ask me, but I haven’t heard anything official on that front yet. It doesn’t make sense to keep him in a rebuild to me. He’s their next best trading piece.

I don't think the Hawks will trading Trae Young, there have been numerous talks about the need to trade either player since their season ended, and to rebuild they'll definitely be need one of them as well, the decision obviously is to stick with Trae Young now, there still will be a number of trades by to get completed by the Hawks in my opinion most likely from the free agency pool, because they sure still need few key pieces to solidify their roster.
Atlanta could get a haul from trading Trea so if they are thinking of going for a complete rebuild, now is the perfect time while Trea is a hot commodity. 2-3 1st round picks is possible for a player with his talents along with a bench player or 2.

Dallas Mavericks sent Tim Hardaway Jr. and 3 second-round picks to the Detroit Pistons, while adding Quentin Grimes to their roster in return.
Smart move by the Dallas Mavericks. After all the role of THJ to the Mavs, he didn't even did it right and now he's going to a shitty team.

Well, no offense about the Detroit Pistons. They were once one of the best team but that era has been gone long time ago and that roster way back then was good compared to theirs now.

While I appreciate Cade Cunningham, he should be transferred to a better team and get some help from other stars.

I am curious if there are any sportsbooks in the NBA (accept crypto) that you are able to bet on NBA draft events.
I'm just curious because I haven't yet tried it, I am also curious what the odds look like and how you can bet.
IIRC, last year stake has it for the sequence of picks. Unfortunately, I haven't checked it this time before the draft happened.

It was also available in sportsbet the last time I checked, but like you I was also not able to bet.

We can see the odds here ;
https://www.ajc.com/sports-betting/how-to-bet-on-the-nba-draft-2024-first-pick-odds-and-more/PULGOX52EBBENAVUEAC3KZOOS4/

For Bronny James, he also has a betting odds.
Quote
Bronny James: Over 47.5 picks (-170), Under 47.5 picks (+130)
And the over 47.5 odds is the winner, however, it's -170, so I doubt many have won.
There's so much media exposure on that draft just for him. He's able to take over even the #1 draft pick so I guess this publicity that he's getting from them aside from being into the bookies for this draft is being liked not just by him but mostly by his beloved team, the Lakers.
Well, I can't wait for the start of this season to see how much playing time that the rookies will be given by their respective teams. And before I forget, with the draft gamble and odds, there's gonna be one awaited bet again for this year for these rookies and that's about who's going to win the rookie of the year award for this upcoming season.

Honestly I didn't even think to bet that.  I thought he was gonna go undrafted.  I would have taken that bet even if it was -200 or higher.  Bronny is not a top 50 player in the draft by a mile.  This is nothing more than a marketing gimmick and it's going to be ultra annoying all year long listening to everything bronny and dad do together.

Yeah, that's what many thought of that there are other better players that have been undrafted so the influence of Lebron was there and with the new coach, JJ, we'd see that he'd fairly gonna be used for this roster. Now that it's all set and they've drafted Bronny and made a historical move that in the very first of its kind, a father and son playing for the NBA is actually a record setting situation that can ever happen.

I haven't followed all of Bronny's journey on college but I've read that many weren't too impressed on how it went. Now that he's here, he's going to be forcefully do at his best being with the Lakers and with great people surrounding him of course, first is his pops. Second, the other teammates and as well as with JJ Reddick.

It could be but if there is such influence, he couldn't be that 55 pick?

And that is the topic right now that I have seen in social media, that there is nepotism here. But regardless there will be always nepotism in any sports, from coaches to basketball manager and President and specially players.

So they've made history already and I think that's what really Lebron wanted to accomplished even if the Lakers were not that team that drafted Bronny.
AFAIK for this draft, there's only two picks for the Lakers and the first round pick was Dalton Knecht whom has been said as a good pick and they don't want to pass on him with that. There is no doubt that there's nepotism there.

I see that most talks today on this thread are about the trades and not about what happened to the first round draft pick. Well, I've read a lot of comments on many of these draft picks video that this is the weakest draft that they've ever seen. It's totally different from last year where we've seen real contenders that were drafted. Anyway, Bronny hasn't been drafted yet on the 1st round and the schedule was different for this year because tomorrow will be the time that the 2nd round draft pick will happen. Let's see on which team he will be drafted or will he be drafted.

We will not known if this is the weakest, although from what I read, the 1st round is another Frenchman if I'm not mistaken? And obviously the talk is about Bronny James acquired by Lakers as their 55th pick in the draft and so history is made again by Lebron James, (so not sure if you haven't read that he was already drafted).

Still a lot of talks in the trade, PG going to the Warriors for instance, but we will see until it's official. Might be interesting on him + Curry together with Draymond Green and what's left of the Warriors team and they could be running for at least one chance for Curry and Draymond to get a ring as they are no longer getting young and the dynasty about to crumble or have crumbled already if Klay is going to leaved.
Yeah, the first pick was from France and just like last year it was Wemby who's also from France. It seems that most of the talent scouts are really looking into the French basketball league there. You aren't sure that I've known that Bronny was drafted because that was the comment that I've made for the first round and I did commented again when he was exactly drafted on that very minute.

I feel like Bronny doesn't "need" to play a 20 year career or something in the NBA, that is not a must. I am sure that he will be at Lakers for a few seasons at least, Lebron may actually retire at the end of this season, which will be a sad day but it's a possibility, after one season with his son, he could just call it a day. Secondly, we are talking about Bronny probably having at least one more contract after Lakers one, so that could be like as much as 5-6 seasons in the league and that's about it.

First of all, that money alone is enough for you to live without ever needing any money ever again if you invest wisely, but also we are talking about Lebrons son here, they are already a wealthy family so it shouldn't really be an issue.

LeBron's influence is unquestionable as he can influence the management to hire or fire a coach, or sign players that he wants to play with. That's how powerful LeBron is; he is like a Kobe of the Lakers now. Even if some people don't like it, it has already happened and LeBron succeeded.
No question about his influence. He's probably of the firing power to push Darvin Ham out of the team. There's no doubt that being picked by the Lakers for Bronny has got a huge impact coming from Lebron.

They have to consider a lot of things for granting that influence of Lebron because on their franchise, he's got the real influence.

And look, Celtics was the recent champ right? Who's got more exposure and talk now? Lakers picking Bronny at 55th pick for the 2nd round.

This happened as predicted, Lebron could really influence the team, and now they will be playing together in a team, first time in the history, right?
I hope Bronny would make his papa proud, because if not, people will criticize and will never stop.

Maybe LeBron's influence or the Lakers management just wants to keep LeBron for next season. In any case, it is obvious that without LeBron as a father, Bronny would hardly have been drafted this year.
Let's see if Bronny will be able to make any success in the NBA or will be in his father's shadow all the time.

Since we are talking about draft picks, I think the topic below is worth a read so we have an idea of how much they'll earn and how long they'll stay.

Let's see if Bronny will be able to make any success in the NBA or will be in his father's shadow all the time.
Getting drafted is already a success for him, I don't expect him to be a main star of a team or getting a huge contract with the way he's playing in college. But let's see, NBA is a different venue, some players in college who are not popular excel in the NBA.

Yes that's a success already and a milestone gotten by a player. Even though to many people criticize the way how Bronny get drafter still he has a chance to prove his self that he deserve to get a spot on NBA.

The only problem is the heavy pressure he got especially for playing a long side with his father. Maybe Bronny will get affected with that especially the media is all over him.

For sure the achievement of his father could pressure him so I hope we would see Bronny contribute on Lakers. We don't expect him to became a star but at least he will have a minutes on the rotation then could able to contribute to help his team to win.

I'm sure he's aware of it already, and they have prepared for it. Even LeBron, a Hall of Famer, has faced a lot of critics, but he has managed to handle it well and continues to play despite his age. Bronny is still very young and has a lot to learn in the NBA.

The question remains whether he can excel or might disappoint his father. For us, if he doesn't meet high expectations, it's not a disappointment because we never expected him to match his father's basketball skills.

What is important right now is he manage to reach the league, all those critics will need to wait for how Bronny will play the game, with the technology nowadays, and with the hardwork that he will put into his game we never know if what he had to offer, it's too early and he don't need to be bothered that he's on the league because of his dad, that's a previledge that he needs to enjoy though there's a lots of works where he should prepared for the upcoming season.

I think this one is a really good trade, Curry does need a partner that is a good shooter and PG is an all around player, so it should be a go. Draymon, PG and Curry, that's going to be a championship team for sure, so hopefully his rumo will materialize as the Warriors franchise is slowly shrinking.

Might be a chance for PG too to win a championship.

Yeah, I think if PG will going to weigh-in teams that is interested to him, maybe he will lean more on the Warriors as their organization has already experience being a champion and even when everyone doubts them in 2022, they still won the championship. So that could be in the mind of PG to join this great organization.

The Clippers might be a good organization as well, but something is lacking, it doesn't have the perfect fit of players although if you look at papers, they have a lot of future Hall of Famers. But still, they can't get over the hump in the playoffs and it's always that they fell short.

That's likely what happened inside, just like Giannis influence the Bucks to keep his brother, and we know that Lebron is more valuable than him so getting his son in the NBA should not be a problem. Bronny for sure will be getting minutes as Lebron wants his son to improve before he retires, and let's see if they have the chemistry as a team, like a father and son.  Grin

Its so obvious that they want him to stay and he decide to do what Lebron's like and to get Bronny into their roster. Even if the situation is unsure but I guess its still a win for Lakers. They provably get more viewership with this and that can generate a lot of money from them. The father and son duo inside the court is so rare so maybe they will just find ways to insert Bronny in the rotation then make their team became more better. Lakers still a strong team so even if they didn't get much good talent on the draft still their team is so fine.

The problem with Bronny is people will expect a lot for him and provably that could able to give stress to him especially if his father will perform good while him he can provide less for the team. Many people says that he provably became a Thanasis 2.0 and will be a bench warmer for Lakers.
