Reimagining how NBA fans and teams experience the game of basketball with Together mode in Microsoft Teams

Starting July 30, the NBA will outfit each game court with 17-foot-tall LED screens that wrap three sides of the arena. These “stands” will be populated with more than 300 cheering fans who will join the game using Together mode in Teams. Alongside a view of their fellow fans, participants can watch a live feed of the game right within Teams.

The technology is really pushing through because of this pandemic. And also, the NBA is doing everything they can to bridge the gap in terms of the game crowd, since the fans is always the priority.
Im already expecting a set up like this. I know the NBA can do more than just the 2k crowd sound effects, which doesn't really make any impact as the players know it's fake.

So this is like a livefeed for the watchers as they watch the game. The picture on the article gives the idea that they will be the live audience through the app of Microsoft as they will live it with a huge monitor in the courtside. Well, this is much better than having nothing but how will be the sound mechanics of it if most of the audiences talk at the same time?

Definitely this is a new experience, but in my side, I'm sure I'll only be watching in my TV, looking forward to the best experience and hopefully that no crowd game would not destroy the entertainment value of team.Honestly, i was not able to sink in the information yet, not a techy person, I will just look how it's done.

Honestly Pop was always successful and had one of the longest streak of success in any sport that I know of and 5 championships in about 20 years is something to be proud of and he never missed the playoffs and also had one of the most insane records with 50+ wins per season for the longest time.

However, even with all of that, Pop has always been a great human over everything else, he has always praised players character more than the talent, if you are not a good person you would have hard time with Pop, he cared more about the human than the player almost always. Which means they may miss the playoffs and he will not hold it against his players, he will of course try his hardest and yell as much as he can during the games but the moment the game is over, all players are like his children.
He instill discipline to the team, that's the level of coaching he has that is why he is very successful even if the big 3 have already retired.
Under his coaching, players will improve as no special treatment or favoritism when he is coaching the game, even if you are a star but if you don't contribute and do your task, you'll be taken out, that's how he is, that's why he last until now as one of active oldest coach in the NBA.

This is where technology will be tested, I have no idea how this is done but I would certainly like to witness the first game of the season resumption and hope the experience is good with the technology being adopted by the organization.

As you can see, Spurs has a high odds, so that means they have a lesser chance to qualify this season.

It's expected already that Spurs playoffs consecutive streak will now be broken this season. I want them to see at the Playoffs but even I want to be positive on that, chances are very slim. The environment inside the bubble might be new to other teams but that won't excuse the whole Spurs team too. A complete Spurs is already struggling so what's more if one of their main players is out.

And sports bookies even try to include the Mavericks on that betting to trap those newbies. Cheesy

Crap!
I didn't realize that.
Who would think the Mavs would suddenly fall at the 8th seed for those 8 games.
They are already away by 8 wins against the Grizzlies.
If I am not mistaken, they won't even need to win. Or they need at least 1?
A low chance considering their roster is still intact. Hell! even if something went wrong they could still get that 1 win.

Then, the Grizzlies will need a perfect 8 wins to make it happen which is almost impossible since teams in the lower seeds will try their best to snatch a win.

Well maverick was schedule today for their match bewteen rockets. Probably this will be added in sports betting. And btw mavericks has a good standing in western confern landed on rank 7. I guess they could really be a good team and could be able to play in play offs. Even the newbie like me could still make a conclusion for the team. However, the newbie mindset when were going to narrow the team of choice of course it will be to the good team like lakers.

Everyone was impressed on Bol Bol's performance on his first scrimmage game except the NBA as he was rewarded by a surprised drug test lol.

Nuggets' Bol Bol drug-tested after stellar performance in NBA debut

Ceiling wise, Nuggets can compete with the Lakers in the bubble so are they a threat to the Laker's run at the title?

It looks like the Minnesota Timberwolves has been made available for sale by their owner Glen Taylor. There have been rumors that there is a chance that the team might relocate to Seattle if some suitors will be interested buying it but the current owner of the Timberwolves had made it clear that his only condition was to make the Timberwolves stay at Minnesota so the only clear options named right now is either the Wilf brothers or their former player, Kevin Garnett. The former one might be the likely candidate for the takeover as they are also the owners of the Minnesota Vikings which might make Taylor be confident that the team will really stay in the state.

Though the owner has this plan selling his franchise the good thing is he still  wanted to make sure that the team will stay at Minnesota,

This will be interesting if KG will buy it, He start his career there and even there's a gap between him and Glen Taylor  if he pursue

acquiring this team maybe there's changes for the future of this team, Let's see how things will turned regarding to this news.

The timing is bad, was it because of the pandemic, even an NBA team struggle so they are selling the team. I read somewhere that an average cost of a team in the NBA was around $4 billion USD, I think Kevin net worth is not that big, unless they'll buy it as a corporation or with other investors.

Glen Taylor is a billionaire native to Minnesota and I haven't seen any news about him financially struggling since he have accepted 2 max contracts in his team considering that the Timberwolves is a small market team. I think him selling it is mostly about his age since he is almost 80 years old and the truth is Glen Taylor based on what KG has said has really no determination to bring the Timberwolves as a championship contender team so if he really loves Minnesota I think this is his win-win situation on giving someone with passion and determination on leading the Wolves to some more wins.

Chances to be in the number 8 spot can also be seen in the betting odds

That's nice! This is new, right? I mean, did they update it just now?
Oh, I am going to bet for one team there and it may not be Grizzlies.  Grin
Look at this great numbers. (drooling)
https://sportsbet.io/sports/basketball/usa/nba/outrights

I might be crazy but who knows.
The new environment could ruin something and it might change the direction of who will get that 8th seed.
It's a risk, but that is the definition of gambling.  Grin

Can you bet Playoffs NO to Orlando @13.38 then YES to Wizards @12.57? Please check, I cant find my log in details.

Spur might miss the playoffs this time, no L.A for the team, so definitely this short handed team has a very less chance of qualifying.

Shorthanded Spurs in danger of losing longest active playoff streak in major sports

Quote
THE San Antonio Spurs will try to extend the longest active playoff streak in North American major sports without LaMarcus Aldridge and with a decent mathematical chance to sneak into the final postseason spot in the Western Conference.

What's your take on this, should be already declare them out of the playoff picture?

Probably.
DeRozan and White cannot lift the offense that large.
They are losing a big option without Aldridge.
Even if Pops is the greatest coach of all time, I don't think it can be done when you are lacking a huge chunk of the pie.
Although, they can always try but it will be full work and effort filing that blank of defense and offense.

Make things really hard for them without Aldridge.
As we all know what contributions he have for the team. In the sense of trying, there's always chance but it's more lesser now.
Coach Pop can try everything in his  hands rotate whoever that's available to still try competing and defending
the playoff position.

Chances to be in the number 8 spot can also be seen in the betting odds

After the scrimmage, some players voiced out their observations about the new changes they will expect once the NBA officially resumed the season.

Here are some:

- NBA put several screens in the arena, making the arena dark around so players somehow don't feel empty.
- Players' bench area is three rows of socially distanced seats for players when they are not on the floor.
- The usual chant or music of the home-team will be heard on the game. Yes, even playing in the same arena, there are still home and away teams as usual.
- The banners or everything related to the home team will be placed on LED boards to turned the arena into their home court.
- About the number of audiences, on the recent Clippers vs Magic scrimmage match, there are around 200 spectators composed of staff, media, etc.

I think it will work fine. They don't have a choice anyway. As long as they are playing and the league continues without any cases inside the bubble. I believe those athletic players can still play just like before with this setup. They just need a few games to be familiar with it.

200 spectators are few compared to audiences they had before but I think its already a lot with the setup too. I even thought it will look like a practice game but with all the media, staff, and other things the NBA do to make it look like a real game, I believe it will be alright. Excited for it but I just hope everything will be alright. No cases inside the bubble and it will be a league history.

200 isnt really that big of a number considering that they arent the only ones (entire team) will be on the venue.Of course it would be composed all sorts of staffs needed so that the gameplay would really be in good set-up. When i do able to see the scrimmage set-up  then i dont see for it to be bad and i do love on how they do arrange it where it do somehow patch up on whats lacking and they do really mind off with players
environment or ambiance. It might not be similar on the normal scenario but at least they do try their best to path it up somehow. As you said where players wont really have any choice at all but to adapt on whats
the current placement or set-up.

Losing LA is like losing Lillard or Lebron in a team, he is the star player of the team.
He average 18.9 PPG this season - https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/aldrila01.html

Hard to fill that, and who would do that for the team, Gay?

I think the spurs are out already.
Everyone will need to step up.
Forbes, Belinelli, etc.
If they are really up to winning then hard work must be done.

This team is a good definition of a hard work, they create star and they are good in defense, but playing without their best player, I think it's hard to trust them on this battle. Memphis already have the advantage, and they need to beat the teams that are vying for the last spot where are the Blazers which is already a healthy team now, and the Pelicans which is also a good team.

It is just kind of funny though. Have you guys seen Heat vs Sacramento highlights? They did flash defense chant of miami heat fans on the screen.

While other games lacks that kind of chants.
NBA should have showcased every computer skills of their employees.
Could this be just a test run and they are looking for errors.

It's good than nothing but there must be something better, right?

I guess just like the Warriors bad season, they will simply accept the fate of the team a little by little as it comes.

To sum it up.
The players did good.
They played like it was a real game already and not a scrimmage. That's the good thing about this.

It would turn into intense match-up later on specially for those teams vying for the eight spot. Well, I'm really glad, that they look like, they didn't lost their touch on the game.
Stars just used a little minutes on the first, so they gave a good game without messing it up.  Grin
It's just a scrimmage so that's okay.

About the Spurs, I have been looking at the whole game and I thought I missed something.
Yes, I did.
Patty Mills did not play although 2 days ago he and Poeltl said they are excited about the scrimmage.
This could be the reason.

Bryn Forbes came off the bench for just the second time in two seasons and finished the game with seven points on 1-5 from three. Patty Mills was on the sidelines but didn’t play — this must have been a classic “rest” game for him — so it remains to be seen if the point of Forbes coming off the bench was to replace Mills’ shooting with the second unit, or if Pop really is committed to finding more starting minutes for White and/or Walker. Only time will tell.
Pops may be cooking something to fill the hole from the missing Lamarcus.

- Players' bench area is three rows of socially distanced seats for players when they are not on the floor.
Why would they even distance them if after every quarters or a good dunk they will get close and do handshakes and other things?

Exactly! Not to mention, that they're going to bump each other again on the floor. Dunno... but I think, they'll change such set-up soon?

- The usual chant or music of the home-team will be heard on the game. Yes, even playing in the same arena, there are still home and away teams as usual.
Which is cool. They still want the home team to feel at home. But, it looks like it doesn't work.  Grin
