Maybe they are still inferior to the Jazz team but their team could compete with the Spurs. It's probably one of Pop's weakest team. It's not going to be easy buy I'm not gonna rule out the possibility of Mavz sneaking in.

Weaker than what they had last year, probably not. Dejounte Murray is returning to the team, they've also added two solid wings in Lyles and Carroll, plus Tim Duncan will be an assistant coach. Don't forget that SAS have one of the longest streaks in making the playoffs @22, they haven't missed the PO since 1998!!!

I see a lot of people are sleeping on the Jazz and might be surprised where they finish come April. Jazz have some pretty nice additions this past offseason in Bogdanovic and Mike Conley. They are being projected to have between 53 and 57 wins, which means a top 4 team in the West. Current odds for Jazz to make the playoffs: 1.03 to 1.04 lol

You mean to tell that a sophomore and a guy who hasn't played for a year and a half coming off a serious injury will somehow top all that ^^^.

Rookies can make a huge change to their teams, I know college is a lot easier than NBA but that doesn't mean players can't come in and make a difference on day 1, they totally can do that.
They can but we also have to consider why some of these rookies play well in their first season. Some opposing teams don't exactly know what to expect from these new players and it could take time before they could figure them out. I don't remember who it was but someone said it before that it was harder for him to score in his second season because he's being guarded better than when he was a rookie.

I don't understand why people think that rookies can't make differences, just in the recent years that I can remember, Donovan Mitchell made a huge difference to his team, Booker made a huge difference to his team, Jason Taytum almost became the rookie with the most points in a playoff season, Doncic became one of the most respected player in the league all of a sudden.

Rookies can make a huge change to their teams, I know college is a lot easier than NBA but that doesn't mean players can't come in and make a difference on day 1, they totally can do that.

Zion has been hyped like hell, I do not see a huge scoring threat or a big leader in him but I think he would be a great defensive threat to every team and grab a bunch of rebounds which would be all that is expected of him, Pelicans already have a great young core so now they will grow together and in 5 years they will probably be a threat to NBA championship if they can jell well together without breaking up the team.

Yes me too, if there is a healthy Porzingis completing the season or maybe just 70 games will do.

These are strong teams in the West and they will need to crawl their way into winning with each of them to put them in the lower spot.
I bet the East will have some bad standings because for sure they will be losing each road game with the Western power houses.

If ever there is a chance to make it to the top 7 or 8 then it will be cool. It will be the Jazz or Spurs which will be out if ever.
But who knows, injuries may happen.

As far as the Dallas Mavericks go, it will interesting to see what chemistry Doncic and the Unicorn can build throughout the season. As i see it, they are probably 2 years away from any playoff contention the way their current roster is constructed. I just really hope Porzingis stays healthy, ACL tears and 7 footers in never really a good combination.
It could be this coming season if Porzingis comes back strong like he was with the Knicks. They could probably fill up the 6th to 8th spot in the west.

Zero chance of that happening regardless of how well and healthy Porzingis is, have you seen their roster? Who do they have; Hardaway Jr, Seth Curry and D.Powell. Good luck with that supporting cast in a stacked out Western conference. I certainly can't see them squeeze a spot in here: Rockets, Clippers, Lakers, Blazers, Spurs, Jazz, Nuggets, and Warriors.

What is everyones thoughts about Zion joining the league?  I read that alot of people are predicting him to be rookie of the year!  I really liked watching him play for Duke and was by far one of my favorite college players!

He was 1st round, pick one and was sent to The New Orleans Pelicans! Last year the Pelicans played great games they just could not win! Several games I seen the Pelicans drop 140 points and lose. I think they will be a team to watch out for this year.

If you want to make money on the Pelicans bet the OVER. Thats is how I made money betting them last year!

Zion was a beast at duke, seen him play plenty.  His game should translate decently in the nba, he isnt just a dunker so to say.  He has great court vision.  It will be an adjustment to the bigger bodies in the nba and the speed that its played at but he should be fine.  I know their have been bust before but it's usually because they lack basketball IQ and cant play up to speed.

Let's just hope that Williamson is not just all hype just like the other first pick in the past. Maybe he is another superstar in the making with all the exposure from media and hypes in basketball world.

I dont think so, his game is pretty good he isnt just one dimensional, and he also excels on defense too so that is unique for a kid his age.  When he isnt scoring he is doing other things for the team.  I'm excited to see him play in live action

Playing in Duke and in NBA is a very different thing. He can be a superstar in College but NBA is a different level. There are lots of first draft pick that went bust before. I hope he is not just all hype and he can handle the pressure of playing in NBA. Then there is an issue with his knees. I hope he is not another rookie who never proved themselves because of injuries.

He's still young and if he can handle that injury to prove himself that he truly belong to this big league, it's about how he will perform and how the management will bring more hype and use him as their franchise player. After Anthony Davies, he needs to step up and bring his team as competitive  as it can be. The media hypes and all the fans' eyes are on him. He will be judged
according to how the media hype his game.

Right, there's a lot of top pick who got busted because it's either they can't really adjust to the NBA playing style. With this height, I'm sure he will be get bang a lot by the big boys, he is super athletic and I'm sure there will be players who are going to challenge him when he goes inside and go for a dunk. Or because of his knee problems, he can't really play 100% and fans and management will be disappointed with the numbers his putting.

We can wait until the regular season starts, there is a reason why he is the number 1 pick, so let's hope he will be able to make pelicans an exciting team.
Who knows what this kid could bring, it will be a surprise if this season the Pelicans will be in the playoffs.

That's right, with all this hype he gets from media maybe he can get busted during his first NBA season. Anyways, lets see how he manage to go up against NBA superstars.

To win the Rookie of the Year, he just need to compare with his fellow rookies which I think he has a great chance since he belongs to a team that he is a started and no superstar teammates. Its expected already that he will win because he is leading in the NBA betting odds now.

let's see the odds here ** https://www.oddsshark.com/nba/rookie-of-the-year-odds

Just wow! Two bigman and a midget who can penetrate.
Lol that line reminds me of Jason No Homo Terry  Grin
That Dallas Terry was really deadly. His hot hands sent Lakers home during the playoff and it was 4-0 IIRC.

He will probably struggle in his first few games. not that I want it but he might be injured at some point with that weight and the way he plays.

What are the chances? They might kick Lebron and AD's asses  Grin

Lol nothing at all 😂

it will take a couple of live real games to get the fluidness of Westbrook and harden together.

Maybe, but its already enough if they can enter in the playoffs while their chemistry is improving.
If I remember correctly, when Kawhi played with the Raptors, chemistry was never a problem because he was able to make Toronto improve although they didn't finish as the number 1 rank, so its possible with the Rockets especially that these two have already played together with the OKC before.
Kawhi is the type of player that can easily adopt with the team mates and hope had already proven this, there’s no need for longer Time for him to blend with his team mate and this is why he become a special player

Kawhi and everyone else in the nba is two different things.  Kawhi has proven he doesnt need a "side" mate to play with.  Stick him on any team and they will contend.  Those types of players are rare and not like harden and westbrook.  That is a type of tandem that will need some live in season action before it becomes a finished product.  Will it work, maybe...but definately cant tell from preseason if it will or wont
Preseason is not the right time to make a judgement because they don't really care a lot since its not part of their record.
We will see the real action in the regular season, if this Rockets team will lead in the standing in the west, then definitely we can tell.

The first 10 games maybe we can already tell if they are blending well or not,.. I just can't contained my excitement, i really love to see them play together and amaze the crowd, lol.
