Exactly! And Lakers Defense is top notch this season. If you guys watched the game today between the Lakers and Utah, It's clear how the Lakers are improving their defensive effort.
On the other hand, I will choose experience over age in terms of playoffs 7 game series. It has been proven most of the cases in the playoffs. Remember how LeBron got swept by the Spurs in 2007. The young Boston Celtics against The Experienced Cavs in 2018 ECF (Brown, Rozier, and Tatum was playing great that time).

Yep. It's quite impressive and surprising that this team figured out the way to be its best version at the beginning of the season.

Lakers have one of the most prominent defenders in Avery Bradley. LeBron is LeBron, he can do it all. AD seems as a decent defensive option. Rondo is experienced and very inteligent player, he will fit into the defensive way of game in playoffs. Whoah, Lakers were supposed to be good but there's a million dollars for whoever thought that they will be THAT good. Contender created in only one summer from the broken and uncertain team. NBA, it's surely amazing.

KP doesn't have the ball most of the time that's why he has a limited score and time on the court. The main focus on offense for the Dallas is Luka which is proven effective in his decision making. I think the injury issue is also a factor to consider for KP and they can't afford to aggravate it this early of a season.

I think so too.
1 season out was bad already and they might be trying to secure the playoffs game if ever they will reach it which I think they will.
Preparing Porzingis might be their strategy for it that is why he is just playing for half the game if summarized.

T'wolves three point field goal percentage is like a dagger.
They lead at the 3rd but Luka came back at the fourth changing the pace of the game.
But the win of the Dallas against the Minnesota is for Brunson. That guy can slice thru anything and you will be shocked he is already putting a lay up.  Grin

Anyone noticed the stats of the the Dallas Mavericks players.
10 of them have points and rebounds while 7 have assists. What a great rotation.

Dallas got another win today, lots of contribution on different players, Luka does not have a double double today but what's important is they win at home, it was the 4th quarter big run that help them get a good lead against the Timberwolves and that was the team effort, other bench players were also contributing when starters like D. Finney-Smith and T. Hardaway Jr. were not contributing much on points.

Yes, I thought that T'wolves got this one, but Dallas come alive late in the third quarter. And then play some good defense in the fourth. Jalen Brunson is the spark in the 4th, hitting clutch basketball, but it was really a team effort. Porzingis scored 19 points as well, while Powell contributed 24. So in this game Luka and Porzingis had a good game, and they need to be consistent though so keep them in a good position in this crowded Western Conference.

...and I think they might still be an underdog if they will face any of the popular teams in the west that are consistent in the playoffs.

Yes, they will be an underdog. The same happened last 2010-11 playoffs where they are the underdog against the defending champion Lakers but able to take down this team in clean 4-0 sweep. And takes the favorite Miami Heat in the finals with the triumvirate of the superstars LBJ, Wade and Bosh but still managed to win the trophy that year.

Expect a nice odds to this team if ever Mavericks will successfully seal a playoff spot. Smiley

Looks to me like Luka and KP really needs to prove something before they can have greater odds of winning than the team they are against specially in the playoffs.

I am more worried about KP. Looking at his stats, it is still low but it could be enough for the minutes that he have.
20-25 MPG, PPG is 14 with 6 boards for his last 3 games.

Are they still worried about his injury which is why they put little minutes for him?

That's not a big thing, as long as the Lakers played good defense and Lebron and Davis are healthy, they can win against any younger team with less experience. The Mavericks are full of young players now but it doesn't mean they are better in the playoffs, experience still plays a vital role.

Mavericks are not lagging in ranking, rank number 4 now and currently have 3 consecutive wins, if they'll keep that position or higher, its good for them as they will earn the home court advantage which is a big help since they are new to the playoffs and I think they might still be an underdog if they will face any of the popular teams in the west that are consistent in the playoffs.

There it goes. I couldn't agree more.

They are keeping their rank at a higher position to avoid being on the spotlight at number 7 or number 8. That will add more pressure into getting in the playoffs and they might lose the spot because of that. They are a young team and panic might be the wall if ever they will be fighting for the last spot.
We could see it with how they play. It is like every game is the playoffs for them.
They just really need to avoid injuries by now.
If they are already secured then it is time to rest the stars.

If they are going for a home court advantage in the playoffs, they might not rest their start and I don't think they will be in the top 2 or 1, maybe top 3 is possible but its a big competition on rankings so resting might not be a good choice for this young team, I know they are eager to play all the time, even luka is consistently playing.

Luka is sensational but he does't have a playoffs experience yet, so its always possible that the Mavericks with him will struggle in the playoffs.

Obviously, it's just Luka's second year so it's not surprising that he doesn't have the experience of a playoff yet. Mavericks is working on that and I'm sure they will get a spot this time. Mavericks last playoffs appearance was 2015-2016 so if ever they will get a playoffs spot this season, they will surely do anything just to make their effort for that run to be worth it. Being struggle is part of the game but it doesn't mean they will be like that in every playoff game.

As for a good example of playoffs first time experience, Steph Curry is in his 4th season where he experienced playoffs for the first time. And they have a wonderful playoffs run on that season despite it's been 5 seasons when Golden State Warriors can't make it to playoffs.

We can't speculate early on what will happen until we will see the action on that day.

Sure the Lakers have a better roster, Lebron and Davis alone is already expected to produce good numbers in any game, that's how good they are.
However, we've seen that Nuggets don't easily give up, slowly but surely they have improve their team and become a legit contender in the NBA finals, yes, I believe on that because they compete well which means they can win and playoffs are in 7 games series and anything is possible, called it an upset but it could happen.

The only problem I am seeing about the Lakers team is that they are not a young team. That could be a problem later in the season or at the playoffs when they play all 7 games in a series. Younger teams could outrun them. Other than that, they are a very impressive team.

That's not a big thing, as long as the Lakers played good defense and Lebron and Davis are healthy, they can win against any younger team with less experience. The Mavericks are full of young players now but it doesn't mean they are better in the playoffs, experience still plays a vital role.

of course you can rely on Lebron on that kind of situation as his been in that kind of situations many times in his career.
That was a great win by the Lakers, they bounce back after a loss from the Mavericks, and guess what? they are going to start a long winning streak again.  Grin

This man who we called the King has been in NBA finals many times and has won a lot of championships in 2 teams, so you can trust him in to end the game right. Lakers prove this young Nuggets that they are the better team in the west and they will continue to prove to be the best team although they lost against luka but that wasn't so bad as the series was even now. Luka is sensational but he does't have a playoffs experience yet, so its always possible that the Mavericks with him will struggle in the playoffs.

One game never proves who the better team is.  It was tight all the way through.  If a team like the knicks beat the lakers does that mean they proved they are the better team, of course not that would be silly.  The west is top heavy and denver is in the conversation with all the other top 4-6 teams and will be so long as they stay healthy.  NBA is a marathon...

The better team are the ones that are winning and Lakers does not only win against the Denver but they also beat good teams in the NBA, currently rank as the number 1 now, that means they really are the better against any team. Lakers have improve a lot this season after they sign Anthony Davis and this could give them another championship but its still too early to conclude as what you said it's a marathon, hoping that no serious injury will happen to any of the players of these good teams so they can give a good game during the playoffs if ever they will face each other.

My point was we arent even 20 games into the season, there are soft schedules for some and hard schedules for others in the beginning.  When I said it's a marathon I meant you cant say who is the "best team" this year this early.  All the top teams are a couple games apart.  A 3 game losing streak or winning streak will change the standings.  Let the season play how it will.  For right now it was just the lakers beating denver last night.  Nothing more nothing less

Luka is sensational but he does't have a playoffs experience yet, so its always possible that the Mavericks with him will struggle in the playoffs.

It is just his second year. If he can bring Mavs to the playoffs, that is already a great achievement. Remember, they are a very young team with Porzingis and Hardaway. In a few years, they will be in their prime and would be ready to claim Finals berth.

Correct. The kid is still in his way to having those kind of experiences. Imagine if he could make it to the playoffs and the Finals.
That is something else right?  Cheesy Any betting sites on that kind of prediction?  Grin

Porzingis might really be the key here.
That dude can really make something out of that height. If he could just perfect those shots like how Nowitzki do it then he can be unstoppable specially in this era of shooters.
More practice and somehow we will see him become a monster.  Wink

Right, if he continue with the right attitude, definitely the experience he can gain will separate him from just a good player to an elite basketball player.

Porzingis though should also elevate his game together with Luka so that it will create a lot of offensive options for the team. Luka driving and kicking the ball outside might be effective today, but when teams started to close him out, Porzingis might be the second option.

I'm watching right now the Lakers vs Denver match. 4 minutes left and I think this is going to be an overtime but it still depends on how Lakers will take care of their 3 point lead.

From 7 points lead to 3 points.

Edit: 102-96 few seconds left.

Congrats Lakers.

The Lakers did managed to escape the threat of Denver in their late minute storm. In this kind of game, we can see the composure of a more veteran line up than a line up with no all-star. It's a more or less like a playoff match that goes down the wire and what matters is the decision making in the end game where LeBron is good at.

Of course Lebron got that shots, that's why his a big factor for this team to achieve more wins. Veteran players compared with new one, has no strategies to be called because they're just based on the actual game and didn't plan prior the games starts.
