Neven without Westbrook, the Rockets pull off a win against a top team in China
Oh really? That is one of China's top teams? I can't believe it, now I more realized how American's basktball is more superior than Asia's Grin. I guess only the Europeans can close to them simply because they got the same physique.
and I think what lacks for the team is a reliable center for their defense and an anchor for the low post.
Yeah! It's also my concern for them from the very beginning, that's why I'm shocked that they trade to get another PG. Capela serves as their main Center and for me he's doing fine though sometimes he struggle in the paint. But well, let's just trust on him for the meantime while they're not yet having a chance to get another strong Center. Besides, Nene and Chandler was there to support him. I believe that they can make it Smiley.

Edit: Natalim got fast hands on replying Cheesy.

Don't underestimate Clint Capela, he is a reliable center and he is one of the reason why the Rockets are successful.
With the game of the Rockets which is the fast pace, they need a center that is also fast and Clint Capela did his job pretty well, if you are watching his plays closely, you will see how good he is in blocking shots and rebounding the ball..

They also have their back up centers.

Tyson Chandler - experience.....
Nene - experience...

complete line up her https://tv5.espn.com/nba/team/roster/_/name/hou/houston-rockets,, in case I missed another center.

The game ended nice for Rockets though.
Nice? I think it' way far from it. Their game ended very great! Houston brutally killed the Shanghai Sharks anf take note, Westbrook didn't played yet Cheesy. I don't know if Rockets was so powerful or Shark's quality of basketball is just poor? Whatever the reason is, I see that Houston is now ready for the upcoming season.

Props to Gerald Greens' 3 pointers, I can feel that he can be a good scoring machine for his team throughout the season Smiley.

It's just a tune up match and they dismantled Shanghai sharks which means they are ready for this coming NBA season. I mean he needs someone who is as good as him, and this team will be unstoppable.

I think with Westbrook, it is already enough as Westbrook is even better than him in terms of stats, they just need to cooperate of each other to have a better team. They don't need to chase for the MVP award since both of them have already won one, and they should be more focus on taking their team tot he NBA finals, even if they will lose, that's already a big improvement that people will conclude their chemistry is good.

Houston is always ready, they are always a great team even without westbrook and even without Paul.
Harden alone can take his team to the playoffs but their biggest problems is in the playoffs since its not possible that he will only be the one who will generate points for the team, you know what Im saying?

I mean he needs someone who is as good as him, and this team will be unstoppable.

As I remember, It was the 2012 NBA finals where they poorly executed from coaching staff down to the players. I dont know what actually happened during that time but Lebron was averaging his lowest in the playoffs I guess.
It was 2011 Finals (Mavs def. Heat).

Wade was still taking the lead but when he was hurt, Lebron could not fill in his shoes at the time. Their newly formed team was exposed by the Mavs whose core team remain largely intact and they have been firing on all cylinders. I also remember what the Mavs coach saying the two teams have different playing style, the Heat playing in the air and the Mavs playing on the ground. The game wan won on the ground.

Ohh yeah sorry I forgot the exact year. What Ive just remember is, how their team got badly beaten by the underdog Mavs. Might as well I call that a huge upset, considering the fact that a lot of people where expecting the Heat to win.
Thanks for the correction though.

Who are the fans here that got hyped by Russell Westbrook's transfer? I thought that we're going to see some of his plays against Shanghai Sharks but he didn't play as per Report: Russell Westbrook to miss Rockets' preseason opener

The game ended nice for Rockets though.

https://watch.nba.com/game/20190930/SDSHOU#/matchup

I love to see him play with Harden but I expect most star players won't focus and play much in pre season.
This is a no bearing game so we can expect lack of effort, full shooting only and less defense.

Don't worry, the regular season will start soon so we can also start betting again.

Who pick the Rockets to be this season's champ? raise your hands... lol
The same thought I have. Starting October 4 we are going to see the start of preseason. It's like a show match for every game that will be held at that time.

Less than a month and we're going to see the true action and start of the season. I'm not yet decided if I'll pick Rockets as this season's champion. It's too early to call and pick for the champ at this rate.
Let's see if their chemistry will blend better next season compared the last time they are in OKC with Durant. The trio didn't get even one ring before, well, maybe they have changed if they want to become a champ. Anyway, I agreed, it's too early to pick who' s going to become a champ this season. It's unpredictable, hard to say, who has the highest chance in going to Finals because of a lil bit balance roster.

Chris Clemons quickly scores 21 points in Rockets' preseason debut

NCAA’s top scorer in the 2018-19 season at 30.1 points per game and is the third-highest scorer in D1 college basketball history.

just like unusual show by clippers last season, this season can expect few unusual teams to climb up the scoring ladder. Golden state warriors looks strong with stronger players. Also, recent signing of Tomas Satoransky from the Washington Wizards to Chicago Bulls makes it even stronger as an underrated team. Lets keep our eyes open !
I don't expect bulls to be in the playoffs this coming season, I like more the Atlanta hawks as they have the 2nd runner up rookie of the year which I think he will improve more this coming season.

Trae Young, my man, he should be a candidate for MVP race this coming season?
Am I too unrealistic here? what ya think? Grin

We should consider him completing the whole season. If he can be healthy the whole year then it might be a possibility.
But there is Steph Curry that is eyeing for that crown again.
Durant aint there anymore so the whole offense will be focused on him again. He looks healthy too and he is still young.

There are a lot of candidates now for MVP and there is still James Harden, WB and Gianis.
Let us not forget the Clippers too which now have an offensive power duo.
He must really fight for that 5th place in the voting poll if he wants to take that Season MVP trophy.

I'll stop considering as MVP on teams that has at least 2 superstar as its possible that they will share the stats.
Giannis has a bigger chance to win the MVP since he will likely get a double double if the offense will still be focus on him.
Double double for (points and rebounds) , but I really miss WB being not human when he won the regular season MVP in the past, he was making triple double that time.

Mvp? I highly doubt it. Unless he can lead the hawks to probably the top 3 in the east before the playoffs. Though Young still has a lot of room to improve and if Luka wasn't in his batch last  year he probably would've nailed ROY. I'm looking more at the Nets this year and to see how Durant and Kyrie can carry the team deep in the playoffs. And the Bucks should also a top team to watch. The defending champs i think would have a hard time to make it deep, if they even get to the playoffs this time.

No one is stopping you from believing but understand that the second year is usually more difficult for these young bloods. Teams already know what to expect. Trae had a good debut season and he should step it up even more this coming season because defenders are more prepared now and should be easier for them to figure Trae's moves.

Erik Spoelstra may not be the best "basketball" coach in the sense of X's and O's, he might not have the best system or the tactics or even the playbook.

However, what he has is bringing players together, think about Miami in the last 20 years, there have been a lot of teams with a lot of disgruntled superstars and a lot of teams with disgruntled any player but looking at Miami I can only remember a few, Whiteside comes to mind at first but not that many others and to be honest Whiteside just didn't accepted the fact that NBA moved on from his play style and he should focus purely on defense and rebounding just like Gobert.

So, all in all he is a good players coach, he builds great team chemistry and he has done a lot to get out most of the talent out of his players, that is why he gets to keep his job and be paid the big bucks year after year.

No matter how good the coach is, if he don't have the players trust then there would be no chemistry to him and his players. Just like what happened to the Miami when LeBron got angry on Spring and lose his respect for him and leave Miami. I think chistry is not about players but also to players towards their coach.
