players like him should retire with pride i know how he loves to play but the competition now is really hard maybe he should consider giving a chance to a young guns Dirk can be qualified as like the two Hakeem of NBA he didnt need the strong body to compete yet he just need speed and shooting capability to win a ring and a MVP award.

Im a long time fan of Dallas Mavericks because of Dirk Nowitzki. Although Im rooting another chance for Dirk to have another ring looks like chances are low. He can play this full upcoming season and can consider retiring after this.

He already proved himself and honestly Im not expecting they will grab a championship. Im happy that they able to enter the finals on 2006 and I thought that will be the last because there are lots of dominant teams back then and the competition is equal unlike today. But they able to beat the superteam of Miami Heat last 2011 which is a great achievement. His leadership back then is awesome since for the first 2 games or I think until Game 3 of the finals, his teammates were all like not playing in their 100% maybe because of pressure. But in the end they grab the Larry O' Brien Championship Trophy and the nice ring that anyone wants.

I too had been their followers since their era with Michael Finley and Steve Nash. Just sad that Steve Nash didn't able to win championship but have a great stats including his season highlights that he grab the NBA season MVP.

Dirk Nowitzki is the only humble player I have known in the league that have the same attitude on Tim Duncan. I didn't seeing them do dirty plays and just playing the game on what it should be.
I definitely agree with you, he is a humble player and he even allowed his salary to be cut so the team can acquire great players.
So far, there is nothing that can really beat the record of Dirk with the current line up, he is good at his prime and I am not seeing any player who has
his kind of skills.

Can someone share their thoughts on the recent revamp with NBA. I read somewhere that there's no more East vs West thing but instead there will be captains will draw from a pool on which player will be the starter and which player will be the reserve. This is a good idea I think since there are teams that are really ramping up their line up creating a super team.

No it's not a good idea if you will bring that to the whole. East vs West is the foundation why NBA finals is exciting. Also you can't avoid super teams since there is a thing called salary cut. The only way to avoid a superstar to signed into his favorite team is under table transaction with the NBA commissioner if you know what I mean.

Looks like you missed the information on what you saw. What you read is only applied for All-Star Game and that is a good idea if applied. We can see that officially this coming All-Star game next year.

I read just now that there will be a revamp on All Star game, not on the whole system of NBA. It will take time to discussed if that will happened. I think in choosing the captain, it must be the leading player who will get the most votes.

My guesses are: Lebron James for the East and Dirk Nowitzki for the West. Why Dirk? It has some speculation that retiring is just minutes away to him.

It was just a speculations for Dirk, and yet we don't have any proof of interview that he will retire soon. Maybe if he's been selected for the all star game, the coach has his personal impressions regarding the advantages of Dirk compared with James, but the decision isn't yet final, and that's what we are waiting for now. Hopefully everything will be alright for this team and they can choose the best captain in the team.
IMO Dirk should retire, he has proven already that is a great player and he won a championship so he is already an accomplished basketball player. Give the young ones the time to shine, I admit that I am a Fan of Dirk but the way he is playing now is completely different when he was still younger.

Where did you get this news about Dirk is going to retire anyway? What the another good player will retire NBA, he's one of my best player and I'm a fan of him since he's earlier days. It's very new to new that a tall man shoots three pointers and having some good spot under the ring. If this is about to happen then they should let Dirk to be a captain on this match up.

As an Atlanta Hawks fan, good thing they traded Dwight Howard.

He is not the Howard during his Magic days. This is one of the player who's talent gone to waste.

He should have stayed in Lakers when he was traded their because at that time, the Lakers will building around a team with him and Kobe. And I read that once Kobe has retired he will take as the main man for the Lakers. Imagine his name with the likes Shaq, Kareem and other all time Center greats of Lakers. However, it seems that he and Kobe has a beef or something and he choose to move out. Now he is like a journey man, and putting himself to a position not to win a ring in his career. And for me, once he decided to moved out of Lakers, his career is gone. Evident as what we are seeing in him today.

The thing is it's an attitude problem. And yes, this one's the hardest one to fix.

@ontopic, looks like the new HOU is much more oiled and smooth this season.

Pre season matches began couple days ago and we already had some action.
Today Charlotte will meet Boston and I believe Charlotte can stand the handicap of (+8).
Pre season is only familiarization of each player in every team since this season lots of trading happens i think this season is very intersting. I just keep my eyes in the boston how irving carry it until the playoffs.

Better days has passed and now he looks like the old players that wasn't flexible anymore. I'm seeing his figure a real sportsman base on how he stand and built of his body. He's not even making some noise in the last season but maybe there is something that he's going through and maybe on this season we'll able to see him play well with Charlotte.

Agree. The Superman seemed to have changed from a main-man to a sidekick. Can't remember the last dunk, block he made if he's made any.

I don't think so, the cavaliers are always dominating the East which gives them an easy way to the finals.
On the other hand, the warriors has a strong competition in the west the last season was easy for them because Kawhi was injured but a year back they have a hard time beating the Thunder and they lucky to get back from a 3-1 deficit if I still remember it right.

Cavaliers doesn't have an easy way to the finals. It's just that teams on the East can't beat Lebron James hardly. Blame the other East teams that can't stopped the dominance of Lebron James and the Cavaliers.

I remember that GSW vs Thunder where Durant realized he needs to transfer to that team after they are being pinned down even with the big advantage. lol.

If it's good to you then how much more Howard's former teammate. Report says that they are all happy that this player is traded. Can't believe his own teammates wants to disposed him. Currently Howard is now on Charlotte Hornets.
