The number 1 and number 2 seed of the West is playing right now.
Despite Utah Jazz playing back-to-back games they still look energetic and are in a good lead against the Portland Trail Blazers.

I am amazed though how big of a change these Trail Blazers become. The addition of Jerami Grant is a game-changer and so does their rookie Shaedon Sharpe who has been stepping up his game whenever he is given more minutes.
Now Dame will just need to be healthy all season long to preserve their winning momentum. Their bench is deep but it's still better if he is present.

Definitely, we still want to see Carmelo in the NBA, although he is no longer in his prime, but he can still contribute just like what he did with the Lakers last season, he had games wherein he score 20++ points.

So it really up to him, to stay and wait if there will be an offer. Still hoping though that the Knicks will give him a second chance. I thought that he will play with them this season but it didn't go. But yeah, maybe after the all star break when body has been bruises, some team might find Carmelo, and be uses as coming from the bench players.
I sincerely hope Carmelo Anthony continues to play in the NBA and who knows, get a dreamed-up NBA championship ring.
Yes, in the previous season there were games that he played extremely well, and in most games he played he always helped the team, even in games where he scored 6, 8 or 10 points. He always did everything to help the team as he could

And that is what Carmelo is chasing, just one NBA ring before he retires.

Same reason why he joined the Lakers last season, and in paper it really looks that they are poise to at least be in the top 3 in the West, with Lebron, AD and the newly added WB. And they also have a young guys that can contributed.

Unfortunately, Carmelo might not able to get that ring though, and I guess he has to accept that already.

I guess no Lebron, no problem for the Lakers.  Tongue

Yes, but it's against a low team, but as we have said, a win is a win, so Lakers getting a big W.
Yeah, it's not that so great team but still, they've managed to win the game because they've been lacking of it with most of their games. Next game is with Spurs. I've noticed that points for most games are exceeding hundreds now.

Just a bit off-topic but still related I guess, it's all about Dwight Howard. I've watched his first game on T1 League and I've seen the crowd, it's big although too far big, and smaller compared to NBA as usual. But the warm welcome of the fans there is absolutely amazing. The game was close against the DEA, and it got an OT. He's got their win, got a double-double and the fans are really happy seeing and watching him live.

I haven't seen his first game, but NBA players are big in Asia, and that's why they love Dwight over there. Howard also has that personally to be very funny so that is a instant click.

And it will be a bigger crowd every night if by chance Carmelo decided to play in Taiwan as well.
DEA, the opposing team did manage to put a lead on them and it's sort of making some adjustments for Dwight on that match. But he didn't disappoint the fans with his performance. Just waiting for some good news about Melo going to Taiwan.

Will this be another season that Lakers fail in even qualifying for playoffs?

Considering the current level of performance, they are really going that way for now. They are the second worst team in the Western Conference after Rockets now. Lebron is giving his best in every single game as usual. Now he has got a thigh injury and missed three games because of it already. If they have another very poor season then I assume Lebron might think of leaving in case he gets a reasonable offer. He is already waiting for playing beside his son and the team don't matter for him I assume.

Maybe it's too early but I would rule out Lakers already. I don't think they can make play-offs under these circumstances. They are closer to lottery discussions instead of play-off spots. They need to do rebuilding. Of course, that's unlikely to happen when LeBron and Westbrook are still on the team. In fact, if we look at the names, they have a good squad, but the game they play is not like that at all.

The bad start of lakers has a bad effect on their overall season but i think the can make it somehow to the playoffs or at least to the play in. They need to find a new trade fast and a younger player that can make an impact on their games. Really sad how they are playing currently but with how many superstars and experience they have their game must pick up

I think Lakers might not able to get into the playoff for this year. The team's chemistry is no there and even if Lebron is healthy, it will be very difficult as a lot of teams are really showing their true potential and there are a lot of teams that surprises us like the Jazz or the Sacrament Kings and also the Warriors having a bad start.

Not sure what Lebron will do, maybe finished his contract with the Lakers and then wait for his son to climb the ladder and declare himself eligible for the NBA draft in the next 2 years or so and then Lebron making history again as father and son duo.

Google Giannis and you’ll see that after the game against the 76ers (where Joel Embiid flagrant fouled him) he tried to get some extra shots up but there were stadium workers with a ladder in the way. Giannis pushed the ladder aside once and then knocked it over when they didn’t get the hint. Eventually Montrez Harrell took the ball from Giannis and told him to go home.
I just did and saw this artcle from NBA itself: Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo explains ladder incident after loss to 76ers
I've watched a video from ESPN about him pushing the ladder but it's too short and didn't included where the ball was taken from him.

It's always interesting to watch matches when players like Embiid and Giannis compete against each other. Embiid's performance was really great, especially in the second half. Moreover, he was close to making a triple-double, and that's what allowed him to surpass Giannis this time. As for that Embiid's block shot, it looked powerful, and I'd even say it was the most memorable moment of the match.
We need that kind of Embiid in the playoffs so they can advance to the NBA Finals. His performance was really great as despite not having James Harden in that game, they still manage to beat a powerhouse team like the Bucks.  Maxey has to be consistent with his great contribution while Harden is still out.
I feel like Embiid still has a ton of time before they need him to be that good. He is always a great player, he plays at an MVP level normally and when the playoffs comes, unless he is seriously injured, he will play the way he normally plays.

However, we should also realize that they are not a team that is contending for a title with that roster, they will need some trades to happen, sure Harden and Embiid are two great players which can fight for a title, but I feel like they are not a "team", they are just two individual great players, they need a better coach, and a better help around these two, so that they could actually win something together.

Kings to playoffs this season ? I could see this happening as they have a great core of players around Sabonis that could help him playing at its best and so far he delivers as Kings are 7th place in Western Conference.

Raptors are also looking juicy this year and they have a hard game tonight against Hawks and I'm willing to take a bet against Raptors tonight and I can also watch the game live on my national TV as they have only 1 live game per night and this is the one they are having today and also taking Portland in 1st quarter because I can see them having a great run so they just need some balance in order to start at least a short winning streak. On the other hand Dwight Howard was having fun in a Taiwan Basket League. He did a great job entertaining the crowd. I guess that was a sold out arena, all because of him.
It's just funny how he took more 3s in that game than in his whole career in the NBA. Not a bad thing though, as he is exploring to expand his range.

I was very surprised by the news when I first heard it. Dwight Howard could still find a place in many NBA teams, but I don't understand why no team signed him. In Taiwan, it's like a one man show. He's having fun and entertaining, and he's got a good contract. Normally, although there is an upper limit in the Taiwan League, a special law has been enacted for him and he is provided with a higher salary.
I wonder what will happen to Carmelo Anthony. He may be a good bench player, but for some reason no team is willing to do so. There are also claims that he can go to one of the European leagues. Personally, I would love to continue watching him in the NBA.

Carmelo is not gonna play outside the US.  Him and Dwight are 2 completely different personalities.  And he will be signed, once the NBA injuries start racking up and the season moves along a te that emerges as a contender will reach out.  He isn't built for the entire season anymore so someone will snag him after the all star break.

Knicks had a great win in Denver on the road.  Yep Denver was without jokic but going out west in Denver is never easy no matter the lineup.  2-0 on the west coast trip they need to get some wins behind them and clear space between being .500

Thibs is now locked into a 9 man rotation which seems to be working.  They go into golden state Friday night, I'm not expecting much from that visit but that's why they play the games right!  Glad nba is getting underway, fall is always the best season for sports.

It's good that they got a win against the Denver team, but obviously, they don't have their MVP and it was a very close game.

But against the Warriors at home, it might be tough for them. Curry just drop 50 points but they lost on the road against the Phoenix Suns.

For sure they want to have a good bounce in their own homecourt so as much as we wanted for the Knicks to upset the Warriors, it will be hard pressed for them.

It was a 3-point game, still a tough game for the Knicks even if it was a starless game form the Nuggets but the Knicks managed to rally in the 4th quarter with the help of Julius and Jalen. But surely they aren't that lucky this time because the Warriors proved again that they are really hard to beat in their homecourt. Curry didn't put much scores this time which is understandable after giving 50+ points in their last game vs the Suns.

Warriors play the game the way it used to be. Core stars share good ball movement and splash bro plus Wiggins, lead the
offense.

Knicks unable to manage to rally back, though they attempt it during the 2nd quarter
but GSW is hell good when playing in front of their fans. This team always has that
entertainment for the fans.

Dwight was definitely having a time. He shot 10 3s!!! He finally ended his first game with 38 points to go along with 25 rebounds, 9 assists, and 4 blocks. He really should still be in the NBA. He’s probably a top 10 center in the world and I think he’s been blackballed from the NBA for his off the court behavior, which is questionable for anyone not living in San Francisco, who ironically didn’t even want to give him a 1 year contract (Warriors).

The NBA nowadays is becoming more and more competitive. More than 20 teams are capable of qualifying for the playoffs. We can only count the teams that are weak and some rebuilding teams with lots of future first-round draft picks like the Utah Jazz and OKC are performing at their unexpected pace. I am hoping that some teams without superstars can enter the playoffs as they are more fun to watch. Imagine the reactions of teams like the Brooklyn Nets with nearly $200 million in salaries and then all of a sudden a team like Indiana Pacers with less than a hundred million dollars performs better? The most expensive salaries this season will be spent by GSW with over $200 million. And there's Draymond Green wanting a max contract.

Well, that is what we wanted in the first place, a much interesting games because the teams are more competitive than the recent seasons. I also noticed that the games lately are far more entertaining because we cannot really say that the favorite team will win because the underdogs will be chasing them and will take the lead if the opposing team won't be consistent with their performance. That said, bettors are now in dilemma because the league has been so unpredictable.
