It is ridiculous for Ukraine to have more support in Scotland than Scotland itself. Of course the players will be welcomed, as well as the fans at the stadium will show solidarity. They will certainly applaud the players when they enter the field. Now a Scottish fan will support his team 100%.

In a normal situation, without war, I would say Ukraine would be the favourite. But in this situation, I think Scotland has a better chance of winning.
Yes, I agree with your opinion. Ukraine are favorites over Scotland without a war but since the Ukrainian players are currently very stressed mentally I think Scotland will be better off chances. In that match, it might be good to see solidarity among the supporters but of course in the competition both countries will back themselves to win.

I don't think Scottish supporters will support Ukraine just because the country is at war. That is something different and perhaps illogical to think about. So maybe only solidarity is really good for the Ukrainian players later, not direct support to the team.

I want Scotland or Wales to qualify to the World Cup because they dont go to one for a lot of time.

Also this teams dont have the fault for the Ukraine-Russia situation. The only thing i dont want to see its some arbitration assistance to Ukraine.

But in the game i think both teams are in the same level, the two have some good players so i dont know who can win.
Wales will play against Poland in the Nations League. I'm not quite sure what kind of competition this is. Is it something separate from the World Cup, or do Poland or Wales have a chance to qualify for the World Cup? I see that both teams are in the same group as Belgium and the Netherlands, who have already qualified for the World Cup.

Ukraine has got a lot of players from their national league in the national team - and these players haven't played football in a while. Nobody knows in what condition will they be - it is expected that they will not be fully ready in physical aspect.

However - they have an extra motivation to win and if they manage to score early while they still have the strength - maybe they will be able to defend throughout the rest of the game.

I do feel that Scotland is a big favorite here - but since I don't know in what condition the Ukrainians are it is really tough to call. I thought I'd bet on Scotland but I'll simply skip the game.

It seems to me more profitable to bet on Ukraine. Firstly, it is an underdog and the coefficient compensates for the risk. Secondly, fans in general expect a weaker performance of Ukraine than usual due to the ongoing war, but in my opinion, on average, athletes should not play much worse or better because of this (someone, on the contrary, will receive additional motivation to perform well for the national command). If we talk about the purely sporting strength of the teams, then I would never say that Ukraine is weaker than Scotland.

In general Scotland should beat Ukraine but because of the war the whole world supports Ukraine so maybe they will qualify for the World Cup. But I don't think Scotland will want to give up that ticket. Scotland play better than Ukraine. They haven't lost to Austria and Poland and won against Denmark. I don`t think they`ll lose here either.

It will be Wales vs.Scotland or Ukraine. As you pointed out the condition of Ukarine players, they are not in best form to play there quifiers. Scotland may not be a big fish but they have advantage over Ukarine. Russia has already been kicked out of World Cup because of there invasion in ukarine.

The match will be played in 2 more days and i think scotland has a lot of advantages in the match later than ukraine, the war factor might make ukraine get sympathy from scottish fans before the match starts, but when the whistle has blown of course scotland also has its own war that they have to fight win against ukraine in that match in order to qualify for the play-off final, I think scotland which acts as the host will certainly win the match, moreover the preparation of the ukraine team so far has not been optimal due to the war that occurred so most of their players have not played for a long time and it makes their performance decrease.

I think the coaches of the Ukrainian national team understand that taking a football player to the national team without playing practice would be a minus decision. Ukraine is a football country and many footballers play in European clubs, so their form is no worse than the footballers of Scotland. Maybe Scotland will win this game, but it is unlikely that they will be able to do it in regular time, maybe we will even see a penalty shootout.

Sympathy can't win matches. And I find it strange that some people here claim that Ukraine will have support from the crowd. The match will take place at Glasgow. It will be ridiculous to think that the Scottish fans would support Ukraine over their country, just because a war is going on in that country. Odds were lowered by sportsbooks because of massive amounts of bets in favor of Ukraine. But I am someone who would think and make calculations with my brain (and not with my heart), and I will be placing a bet in favor of Scotland.
I fully agree with you. This is not a friendly game, there is a lot at stake here for both teams. So have the odds for Ukraine been lowered? I just checked bwin and it says 2.25/3.1/3.4 which doesn't seem low for Ukraine, but rather high. Also they haven't changed much in the last weeks. I think Scotland is pretty motivated as they probably want to play their "derby" against Wales after Wink
I just hope we'll see an interesting games with some goals and not just a nervous game.

@Sithara007 I too don’t expect the crowd to support Ukraine either, but I’m pretty sure that they’ll show some some kind of gesture for the Ukraine player’s to express their sympathy. Also while Scotland are the favourites, I feel that Ukraine will be equally motivated to win hence I’m expecting a very tough contest, and lastly I believe that the team that scores the first goal will probably win this match.

Both countries that is in war is even trying to participate for the contest, i know that if any country defeat them they will use what is  happening as point of excuses and for me even though their is no offence for them not participate my suggestion is that they would have contested because of the war, nobody that the home is on fire that feel relaxed and free minded, this alone will make them to fail for the contest because they not relaxed, that is my peace of advice and contribution

I'm also confident that Ukraine will qualify for the world cup.
As much as war mentally shakes players' heads, it also gives the strength to show the world what they are capable of.

How does it work with the odds for draw here since there cannot be a draw in this match. A winner must be decided. Is the result of only the 90 minutes considered?

This would be a bit strange bet because you could lose the bet even if your team wins in penalties for example.
Yes, the odds are usually for the result after 90 minutes. Of course, if it's a draw then we have extra time and maybe penalties, but the bet would be concluded after the regular time. You can also bet on qualification, currently odds here are Scotland 1.6 and Ukraine 2.2, so roughly 60%-40% in favor of Scotland

I'm personally not sure Ukraine players will be properly trained for the match. I mean, they haven't played any games at a competitive level for months now, so I'm sure they're not at 100%, plus their minds will probably be somewhere else.

On the other hand, you can see that most people around the world are supporting Ukraine, so it will be a weird atmosphere for Scotland, who is playing local. Usually the crowd would have cheered for Scotland but now I'm sure a lot of the stadium will be supporting Ukraine.

My guess is that it will be a bittersweet victory for Scotland, with the crowd hoping for a Ukrainian win.
Well that is the beauty of football , isn't it?
Im pretty sure as well as the others ... that through football .. through world cup exactly ... the heated atmosphere war could get melted and become unity.
The problem is that FIFA itself often playing the politics which a huge disguise.

Can't wait to see how big football fans supports on this humanity matter.

I don't even agree with you, I think Scotland will win in this match because of their better composition of players and they are not at war. Robertson is a good defender, I'm sure he will be able to protect the Scottish backline well. This match will be very exciting.

How many players of the Ukrainian team have been inactive? Surely there are quite a few that play in other European top leagues? It is true that all those things will affect Ukraine's performance, but Scotland is no unbeatable opponent either. I think both teams have a fair chance to progress into the final qualification game. Odds for progression are currently at Scotland 1.6 and Ukraine 2.2, so roughly 60-40 in favor of Scotland.

For me its realistic that any of this teams wins. Even with Ukraine being in war it shouldnt effect that much the football team maybe it should even give them a boost. If they call players that havent been effected by the war and were playing they should have a good chance
