Scotland vs Ukraine is now getting closer, only a couple of weeks for it to start(June 1st). It's probably going to be an interesting game to watch, not sure who will end up winning though. Who do you think will win in Glasgow?

Bookmakers give a clear preference to the Wales team, but in my opinion they greatly underestimate Ukraine:

1,72 - 3,50 - 4,35

Probably Wales is really the favorite in this match due to the home game and some other factors, but these are teams of about the same level and in my opinion it is wrong to give such a strong difference in odds. Maybe it's because of the ongoing war? But does it have such a big impact on the Ukrainian national team, most of whose players play abroad?
I guess you are refering to the Scotland vs Ukraine game?
I just checked odds and found: 2.3/3.2/3.2

Scotland does play at home, which is a real advantage again with audience in the stadiums. Independent of the war, I think Ukraine is not a weak team and probably stronger than Scotland. With Scotland playing at home they should be about the same level. Maybe bookmakers really factor in that Ukraine will perform worse because of it?

I personally know one case in which the employee went missing and then his GCC employer refused to help. And I have heard about dozens of such cases in my friend circle. And once again, I never said that all the GCC employers are bad. There are hundreds of thousands of individuals (if not millions) in India, who thank the GCC countries for the opportunities that they received. But again, when it comes to human rights, GCC nations (without any exception) doesn't have a good record. The laws are lop-sided to favor the national, in case of any issue arising between the GCC national (employer) and the expat (employee).

As far as I know, those countries are a lot fond of ease. I know that they sometimes refuse to do certain works that are their duty to complete. And they are also a lot of cases where a lot of people try to go to those countries illegally. Because of that, a lot of people get in trouble and fall victim to human trafficking.

To be honest I am not trying to defend which is quite evident for those countries. I am trying to state some facts which are true. I believe what happened with your friend is absolutely horrible and that case should have had a proper explanation. there is no avoiding this fact also.

And do you have any proof of that?  or are you just saying a story that you heard from someone else who had that from someone else also?

People go to these countries to find a job because these countries offer opportunities for those people who are hardworking. I know very well that some owners are almost always behaving very badly with the workers. But that is not the case everywhere.

I really think in these first world countries, if people go missing, there are laws about it and the police force also does their work very well. well at least better than India in my opinion.

What happened in Qatar is modern day slavery. It's sad that the cost of this world cup was people's lives. I really can't blame Sepp Blatter because he was only been fair to the Arab nations and in the bid of developing the game in those affiliated countries, the world cup has to be awarded to Qatar. I think the US and most European countries were angry because the world cup didn't favour them this time around.
Being from India, I have heard about horror stories told by people who have been to countries such as Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Tens of millions of expats work in these countries and the treatment varies from one employer to the next. Tens of thousands of such employees vanish all of a sudden, with their family members unable to find out what happened to them. And in most cases, these individuals are listed as "missing" rather than dead, and therefore no monetary compensation is being paid to the family.

And do you have any proof of that?  or are you just saying a story that you heard from someone else who had that from someone else also?

It is very unfortunate that there have been so many casualties and deaths in this country. But canceling or boycotting the tournament wouldn't make things any better. At least not at this stage anymore. And the footballers can't help it either, they basically just go there to work like in football. The unions should have acted better and harder.

Qatar is the richest country and only has a population of less than 3 million, even the state of Qatar pays their workers wages of 350k per hour, even though the government does not give discounts to its citizens, I am very sure their citizens are not angry, the Qatari government only wants to profit from immigrants , they managed to host the world cup, their goal is to show the world that their country is a safe country and none of their citizens live suffering,

What do you mean by wages of 350k per hour? In Qatar most of the work force is made up of immigrants from South Asia. These workers earn in the range of $1-$2 per hour, if not less. And there are reports that around 6,000 workers died during the construction of stadiums for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. I am not saying that all of these deaths resulted from accidents at work place. A lot of them died as a result of sunstroke and cardiac arrest. But most of these deaths could have been avoided, if the Qatari authorities had provided better working conditions.

These deaths may overshadow this world cup in Qatar. The death of 6,000 workers stands out as a very high figure. Qatar should explain the reasons for this. The best conditions had to be provided for workers working for 1-2$ per hour. Although, in my country, the monthly salary of a minimum wage earner is $275. I wish a fairer wage was made and everyone lived under the same conditions.

What he says about not favoring Europe is also somewhat true. Roll Eyes

But on the other hand, we also have to see that many moral values that FIFA has been promoting have been put aside. And that is regretful.
It is true that FIFA's idea, without raising the question of money, was to try to make these countries change their attitudes a little. But to do that, they should have been stricter in their demands, and not turn a blind eye to many human rights violations.

One thing is certain, despite all these controversies, it will certainly be a very emotional and interesting World Cup to watch.

But the irony is that nobody voiced for such deaths that resulted just because of abusive use of labor. This abusive use of labor is not only limited to Qatar, almost all gulf states have such attitude towards poor immigrants from south Asia. Few months later everyone will be busy enjoying and betting on FIFA worldcup matches, no one will remember such deaths.
There will be plenty of people like you and me who will remember. In fact it is such a big deal that Fifa actually fired Sepp Blatter who if I am not wrong ended up being the reason why we are having a Qatar World Cup this year because he took bribes. It was such a big news that we had interim president for a while and now have a new one.

The new one will have to give it to nations with democracy and no slave labor just to make sure that they are going to the right direction and current president doesn't get impeached as well. So, we are going to see new decisions made for better nations and that will be better for everyone who watches it as well.

Unfortunately this World Cup has many things wrong, allowed by FIFA in an indirect way. And there are just no more things, because public opinion has exerted some pressure and they have adjusted something. Despite being the biggest event in world football, it will also be marked as the most controversial World Cup.

The world has been through a lot in these years and people all around the world had to get adjusted to a lot of things. And after what the world has seen in the last few years the controversy around the FIFA world cup is not something that people will not be able to get their head around.

Anyway, after a lot of controversies and waiting the world cup is going to happen and I can say that a lot of people are really excited about it.

I think what people are not realizing is that the country itself is a hot area and the weather in the daytime is Israeli hot there. And it is very much possible that the people who went to work there from another country are not able to cope with the weather there and that can cause some serious injury and also death in many cases.

I am not saying that there was nothing to be done for the workers but what I am trying to say is there cannot just arrange air conditioning for the workers working under the sun. But they could certainly have arranged at least a hut if you know what I mean.

But the irony is that nobody voiced for such deaths that resulted just because of abusive use of labor. I believe for any team to win this World Cup, they should've had a good preparation, a strong mentality, and at least some level of madness to go at any length or do anything to see their opponents off. I think team England is a good pick, actually they are always one of the favorite to win the competition at every edition but tend to fail woefully though because most times they lack one or two of the things I mentioned for any team to have in order to win the world cup.

Here are the odds of who will be the champion:

Brazil 5.50
England 6.50
France 6.50
Spain 9.00
Argentina 10.00
Germany 12.00
Belgium 13.00
Portugal 13.00
Netherlands 13.00

Teams below these have odds starting at 29, so they can be ignored. As you can see, this is a fairly even distribution - the first three have only twice the chances of the best than the last. It can be said that Brazil has an equal chance of winning with a pair such as Belgium + the Netherlands.

England was good team , they always participate in final round of world cup. but they have no history to fight in final stage in every event. they also need luck to be champion , playing character was formed before finally i live. I dont see any special player in England team, and so team work should be main focus for coach team. maybe quarter final will enough for England

England do have some world-class players, and Harry Kane in particular can win any game. But I'd agree that England are unlikely to win the World Cup. Some of the players they've relied on in the past are just in really poor form at the moment, most notably their main defender Harry Maguire, who is not having a great time at all at Man U. And they also suffer from a ridiculous weight of expectation that is out of keeping with the quality of the players.
