I didn't learn my lesson today unfortunately, but with so many games happening today, I gave in to temptation but decided to avoid Europe altogether (except for an early bet placed yesterday).

Backing Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria from Africa to take me home today, plus UAE and Saudi from the Middle East to add to my joy. Had considered backing Madagascar earlier but already two goals down inside 30 mins, so seems like I avoided that trap. They were doing so well before Covid, though.

So, can the Netherlands get revenge on Turkey? Cheesy Their last meeting ended in a win for Turkey... The last three games have not gone in favour of the home side...  But now the Dutch are in great form! The odds for a Turkish win are 10! That's crazy! Shocked It's likely that everyone will be surprised in this match... When bookmakers give such odds, it's misleading, I guess...

In the last two matches, the Netherlands have conceded 7 goals to Turkey and scoring just two. It is speculated that the Netherlands' fortunes against Turkey are not very good. The two teams are almost equally strong. I think the match is likely to be a draw. The field could be a goalless draw.

Judging by Turkey's poor performance of late, I think the Netherlands will win today! They are worthy of that home win... However, the statistics often come true... Yes, and the bookmakers' inflated bets raise some doubts...
We'll soon find out! Wink

I agree with you about this. Turkey have been doing really poor lately excluding the Gibraltar match. Because it was the easiest match ever for them. I didn't like their performance too much against Montenegro. They got one point after making a very simple mistake while setting the wall and conceding the goal after. Netherlands demolished the same team 4-0 in their last match. I suppose Netherlands will win this match without having too much problem.

yeah its amazing what the Italians have been doing breaking  the record of Brazil and Spain  and they are currently the most consistent team that has reached a series of stability without losing for match 36.
This reflects the mythical continuity that the team has reached. Italywhent it gets sick, the whole world goes to her and does what tgey did, but when she comes back.
They are l the one who goes to them and restores the honor, as if getting the euro was not enough to forget the years of hibernation, so the Italians now refuse to lose even at the time of joking.
From their worst ever ranking to the longest unbeaten streak ever.  Roberto Mancini is the Legendary name that turned Italy around off to a New start. This form started long time ago in 2018, against Ukraine after playing a draw. Playing through the very competitive 2020 Euros and avoiding any defeat till the final against the Three Lions when they claimed the victory. How they have manage to maintain that good streak till now is what most managers need ton learn. Roberto Mancini is a quiet man, a vey tactical Coach, achieving something like this is a big plus to his career. With the quality of teams they are to play soon, they will surpass 40 games.

There is an interesting statistics like Turkey never were able to defeat Netherlands in their away matches. I know that Turkey destroyed them 4-2 home. In that match, Netherlands were nearly making a comeback as they scored 2 goals in a very short time period and made it 3-2. But Turkey still maintained their superb performance and finished the job by scoring one more goal.

This time, I see that Netherlands are highly the favourite as they are in-form but Turkey are having some problems. Yeah, they beat Gibraltar 3-0 but nearly every team can beat them.  Grin  I think that Netherlands will win this match by 2 goals at least.

Today we will have another game day, in the European qualifying. What will the results be?

Group A: Azerbaijan vs Portugal, Republic of Ireland vs Serbia
Group D: Bosnia-Herzegovina vs Kazakhstan, France vs Finland
Group F: Austria vs Scotland, Denmark vs Israel, Faroe Islands vs Moldova
Group G: Montenegro vs Latvia, Netherlands vs Turkey, Norway vs Gibraltar
Group H: Croatia vs Slovenia, Russia vs Malta, Slovakia vs Cyprus

I have to say, that the outcome of most of these matches seems pretty clear to me, at least on paper. My picks for the winning sides would be Portugal, Serbia, Bosnia, France, Austria, Denmark, Faroe vs Moldova i think that  Faroe is the slight favorite but a draw is also very much possible, Montenegro, Netherlands vs. Turkey is also not that clear to me, as Turkey performed very poorly in the European championships but so far they delivered in the world cup qualifiers i would say that the Netherlands are the slight favorites here, then Norway, Croatia, Russia and Slovakia should have no problems again to win their matches.

I would say also it's not the only thing, not also the most crucial.
Teamwork is important, but it is also very important how the coach sets the players up for the game. after all, players who play the game selfishly can be put on the bench, thereby showing that this will not work in his team. But if you take Immobile in Italy, then I will say that he very often does not give a pass at the right moment. But despite this, Italy still plays team football, and does not draw out victories on the individual talents of football players.

That's what I meant earlier. To find a team that plays with each other properly is hard to do for internationals, unless your country mainly has local players playing in local leagues. You found this in Iran and also in Russia for example, before.

But it's the total team mindset and how you get them to play with each other, a cohesion from the manager and coach. People always underestimate a manager's impact on a team, it's only when you see the consequence from 2 different managers that you understand this.

i have marked my favorites in bold. in my opinion, the match between austria and scotland will end in a draw, and in the match between the faroe islands vs. the republic of moldova, i hope that the islanders will win. Cool

Most of the matches played today seem one-sided to me. The match between Austria vs Scotland I think will be a draw. Moreover, the match between the Netherlands and Turkey also looks like a draw. The Netherlands and Turkey are not in a strong position now. I agree with your predictions for the rest of the matches.

We are starting to the match day with the Azerbaijan - Portugal match. Azerbaijan got their first point after performing nicely and getting a draw against Ireland in an away match. They have nearly zero chance to promote to the next round of course but they are still trying their best to get some points at least. Even though they are at the last place, they conceded the same amount of goals as the group leader Serbia. However, Portugal are very dominant in this match. Ronaldo is still performing awesome as we saw it in their last match. He is definitely a game changer. And in this match, with the help of Ronaldo, I expect Portugal to destroy them.

South Korea have already messed up their first home game after Iraq forced a draw upon them, I felt South Korea are one of the strongest team in Group A beside Iran. If South Korea could not beat Lebanon today by playing this match in their home country, they might face some difficulties securing the top 2 spots in Group A. I think South Korea would surely want to avoid facing that situation and the players would try their best to earn 3 points by beating Lebanon today.

I'm favoring Italy and France both in their next games. They both got draws two times in a row recently against weaker opponents. This is really unacceptable considering the fans especially. I think that it is the compensating time for both of these teams. France should be able to defeat Finland with at least 2-goal difference. And Italy should be able to demolish Lithuania with at least a 3 or 4-goal difference.

For Italy, it is going to be easy, as Lithuania has not been performing up to the mark recently (they have lost all 4 of their group matches so far). But Finland is a strong side and they have a history of upsetting top sides. On top of that, France also seems to be in poor form, and that was evident during the Euro cup as well. They had a draw against Ukraine in the first match of the qualifiers, and then managed to defeat Bosnia and Herzegovina by the narrowest of the margins (before drawing against them at home). The last match also ended in a draw (away match, against Ukraine).
Italy has to be wary of the exploit of Switzerland in their group, the Swiss can win their outstanding 2 matches by topping the table with 13 points to lead the table, both team will have to slug it out till the last game.
It's a pity that France is struggling to consolidate the leadership of their group after losing form, that group is equally a tough group with Finland even Bosnia and Herzegovina had 2 matches can equally create an upset getting a runner-up in their group after the final round is another opportunity for the teams

Serbia has a tough challenge to beat Ireland away, but Ireland is real bad at the moment, all loses in qualifications
it is a race with Portugal for top spot in the group, seems that both teams are already secured top2 positions, others are far down on this point

I think Serbia and Portugal will win their games today with some ease.
I don't see Ireland capable of standing up to Serbia. It might even be a little difficult, but they will eventually win. Unless eventually Ireland score a goal first, in which case everything gets more complicated.

there is also important match in Netherlands, where home team needs to beat Turkey, to improve their qualifications chances, all teams are within points in this group, probably most interesting qualification group in this round

A really important game for the Croatian team today - a victory over Slovenia would all but confirm one of the top 2 spots in the group.

I'm quite optimistic, Slovenia is a weak team - but I'm not really looking forward to the game itself. We have been grinding results lately, so it will probably be another boring 90 minutes. Even more so if the rumors are true and Kovačić will be rested - with Livaja starting the game.

International football can really be boring - can't wait for these qualifiers to end.

It's not whether or not it's special, it's the quality it can bring to the tournament. But of course, this is not guaranteed.
Either way, it is strange that a team that has already won the tournament several times, is not present.

But that won't happen, I believe they will be able to qualify.

You're right, it's all about entertainment after all, better to be showman than win a boring game right? You need to keep the audience because they're the ones that's making you a lot of money.
