KQs is a very strong pocket pair, in my opinion.

I don't think so, but depends a lot on the overall circumstances of course Smiley KQs looks nice, but when you go all-in, you would have to consider which hands are likely to call your all in. You aren't favourite against any hand that has an A and any 55+ pocket pairs:

Source: https://www.cardplayer.com/poker-tools/odds-calculator/texas-holdem

Of course you might also get called by KJ, KT, QJ etc., where you are strong favourite, but more often than not, you will also find yourself up against AK, AQ, high PP, where you need a miracle then. But each players has his own style and some lucky charm hands he likes to play, so there is probably no right/wrong here. I would like to see a flop first with KQs unless I am short-stacked, desperate and have to gamble Tongue

(...) but not from @FOMA, who, based on my observations, usually starts playing only with good cards, and when he goes all-in pre-flop, you can bet he has something extremely good. Smiley

Yep. But with <10BB you will also see non-premium hands then just like from every other tight-ish player.

I'm too overcautious.

Well, as we all know, there is a huge difference in going all-in and calling an all-in. I remember you going all-in with KQs in middle position with middle of the pack stack, which looked a bit desperate (for no reason). Webtricks called you with Ax with his monster stack and you won, but this play wasn't overcautious Cheesy This is the interesting psychology with Poker - reacting to aggression and being aggressive yourself. You folded QQ in a good spot and had a Hail Mary all-in with KQs in a (I think) bad spot.

It's similar with Hhampuz when he has lots of chips and triples the blinds nearly every hand Grin You fold better hands than he has, but what can you do; the power of chips Wink

KQs is a very strong pocket pair, in my opinion. When I went all-in with those cards: I din't expect a call, in the first place; secondly, I knew I had good chances to win in a case of calling. Now, two Queens was obviously a better hand, and I would not hesitate to call all-in almost from anyone, but not from @FOMA, who, based on my observations, usually starts playing only with good cards, and when he goes all-in pre-flop, you can bet he has something extremely good. Man! He always plays on insane mode! The first hand I played after he was shifted on my table was my worst hand of the last tournament. I had around 6.2K chips and he got some 15-16K. I got KQ as hole cards. When flop was dealt, I had 2 pairs. Someone raised 1BB, he called then I raised 5BB and he raised my bet by 10BB! I was dead at that time! I already wagered 1.7K chips in that round and still 2 more cards to be dealt.

He can really make you feel uncomfortable if the luck isn't with you. However, his pushing comes very nicely when I manage to pocket something and have a nice stack myself.

Looking forward to game this Sunday, hopefully we will not start loosing players as they lose chance to qualify. I know I am planning to play all the games no mater what. I need to keep that attendance streak going.

I folded that hand with heavy heart and my stack dropped to 4.5K chips. Then I revamped my strategy to counter his aggressive raising and succeeded. After that hand, I went 1v1 against Hhampuz in like 10-15 hands and except one, I won all hands.

In the end, I was the one who eliminated him.   Cool

If I knew you had AKo, I wouldn't have called with my Queens.

I wouldn't have called as well, I would have gone all-in ( to get rid of jayce). You are only doomed against AA/KK, but Foma's range is big enough here with 11BB left, although it was points bubble iirc. In most of the cases you are solid favourite and even if you lose, you still have ~7.5BB, which is enough to work with. Winning the hand will put you at 30+BB and with >50%, you should take your chances imo.

Just shoving could be a little trap, but most of the times the player has something where he doesn't necessarily wants to be called. With AA/KK you don't go all-in in this spot, but want some action and not just the blinds.

~

i guess i was just referring to my overall range. AKo is near the top of that range---hands like 99-JJ are just as likely tbh. all considered, without giving away too much info, you're a solid 60-65% favorite there.
~

You've convinced me, guys. Smiley The best thing I should have done was going all-in, to get rid of jayce, in case he had something worth risking half of his stack. So, folding was a wrong move on my part. I'm too overcautious. Way more often than I should be, anyway. Maybe that's why I've never took the first place in any tournament of our Series(and I participated in all of them!). I'll try to do better in the future. You watch yourself now!  Grin

Idk, man, in terms of probability, pocket Queens against AKo, is almost the same as pocket deuces:

open shoving KK or AA is not completely outside the realm of possibility (more likely below 10bbs though) but yeah, true in most cases.

BTW, do you, by any chance, remember what you had that time when I folded to your all-in(having pocket Queens!)?

It was in the beginning of the 3rd hour of the game. We, me and my wife, thought you had pocket Aces or Kings(we were kinda sure of it for some reason), but it would be interesting to know what you really had. Smiley

i'm not positive, but i'm pretty sure i had AKo there. it definitely wasn't a monster like KK or AA. you probably should have called! Tongue

nice one! i can't remember the last time i hit a straight flush, or even quads.

Yeah, it's a rare thing by itself, but winning the tournament with straight flush being the very last hand ... it's unheard of. I've never seen it even on YouTube(and I watch lots of top poker tournaments).

guess who's back

you and everyone else. i think @bitmutiny/imaginethat is the only one who has locked up a spot. it wouldn't take much for @SyGambler, @Improved, @jayce, @Globb0, or @Iv4n to edge someone out.

somehow I thought my chance is zero since I missed some games but now I see it's very possible , thanks for the reminder
I will try making 500 krills before next game , wanted to moan so bad in chat yesterday after I lost to 2 outers  Cheesy

Nice congrats. That makes 2 Straight Flushes that have been the winning Final hand. I flopped a royal in the second series and was lucky enough the opponent flopped a flush.

I couldn't make a comeback at all. My JJ ran into 1r0n1c and the 9x of hearts - I rivered a straight, and they rivered their runner runner back door flush draw.

This left me short can't remember what I went out on but it was a shove and I lost the flip.

Either way see everyone next week. Need to secure some more points and try to lock up a finale spot.

Guys, I am going to tell you all a secret. Before today's tourney, I have played 17 games in the series (excluding finals) and only ended in cash position once(S3 2nd game). In that game I took loan from efialtis. So before playing the today's game, I thought why not take the loan again, maybe it will act as a lucky charm. Even though I had sufficient chips in my account, I asked for chips in the thread and guess what! I won cash again!  Cheesy

So from the next time, I gonna ask for 1K chips in the thread before the game and you will see the magic on the table.  Cool

now that we know, nobody is gonna lend it to you anymore. Tongue

Ye!! I won the tournament. What would be better than this as a final hand (my first straight flush on SwC):

Good Game Everyone! Jayce you played very well in final showdown. I was kinda relaxed and thought I would easily beat you but you played few hands splendidly. But in the end, the flavor of my coffee made me win the game. Cheesy

I know, there is no magic, but, man, your story puts me in a state of cognitive dissonance. Smiley Not only you won the tournament, but your final hand was , what?, a straight flush? How can I keep not believing in magic after seeing that? What have you done to me? Smiley

Seriously, congrats, mate! Some magic stuff can happen in this world sometimes, and you just have proved that.

Congrats to all your ITM lucky bastards, see you next week.

Thank you, @Trofo! It’s been quite some time since I finished In The Money in this series. I'm so glad! Smiley Congrats, @jayce! Congrtas, @Sy! Good job, guys!

First jinxed @Betwrong, now @arallmuus

This is what I get for being cocky last week  Roll Eyes

To be honest, getting into point finishes is not as hard as it used to be.

Now with that sloppy finishes from me,  I need to get as many points as I could next week or I need to free up my schedule on the 8th round to be able to play. I was trying to pull a 'sygambler' by sitting out because I was focusing too much on a roll hunt competition

It's a pretty tight race, 2nd place through 9th within only 3 points, qualifying for the championship game couldn't be more open.

Yeah, dang if only I could get some points from this game then I might take some points lead to secure my spot for the grandfinale Tongue

Gracias, amigo Wink

Congrats to webtricks for winning this round, well played!  Wink

It's a pretty tight race, 2nd place through 9th within only 3 points, qualifying for the championship game couldn't be more open.

I had an uneventful exit, i would say typical for me. I got myself in trouble with two straight suckouts on the river and then went pre-flop all in with QQ vs. KK

This one, in particular, hurt a lot, i think i was over 90% favorite after the flop/turn:

Anyway, cya all next Sunday!
