Are there plans to get cool banners showing our slush pool hash rates?

Yes, that would be neat. All for the e-peen!

Hi everyone,

I got an e-mail indicating that I was paid out by slush's pool about an hour ago, but nothing has shown up in my Bitcoin client.

I did however notice this warning in my Bitcoin client:

WARNING: Displayed transactions may not be correct! You may need to upgrade, or other nodes may need to upgrade.

I have the latest version of the application for Windows (0.3.21).. any insights?
Be patient, also make sure your blockchain is fully downloaded in your bitcoin client.
It will come through, dont panic, you can check its progress on this site: http://bitcoincharts.com/bitcoin/ ... It is probably just a very low priority transaction.

Thanks for your reply MiningBuddy,

Ok.. checking the progress I see that the coin has been received, but it's not showing up in my Bitcoin client... also, the number of confirmations of previously received transactions have stopped counting up and all have frozen for the last twelve or so hours.

I believe this has to do with the warning I got (posted in my original message).. I tried re-installing the Bitcoin client to no avail.

Any info would be greatly appreciated..

To answer the person above: Roughly 1 hour should do it, the confirmed reward should then be transferred to your BTC wallet.

To slush: Can this suggestion (by melco on deepbit.net thread) have any merit on your pool?

Is it possible to add stats column on how much BTC worker earned in front of each worker (after "Shares" column)?

Would be actually quite useful, though I'm not sure how easy it would be to implement.

Also, server is constantly complaining about "problem with bitcoin rpc" every few minutes for the last few days.

Why I have some "Unconfirmed reward" value but "Confirmed reward" value is zero? Set "Send threshold" to 0.01 but no effect. Maybe I don't understand meaning this terms?
I think that there is a 0.01 transaction fee for sending less than 1 BTC amount. And so the pool cannot send you 0.01 becauase it would need to pay a transaction fee of the same size that the amount transferred. I think that the minimum amount that you can really receive is 1 BTC. Am I correct?

btw - anybody knows how did bitcoin faucet manage to send 0.02 BTCs? Maybe this method could help the pool to send small payments and avoid huge transaction fees.

AFAIK you don't pay a transaction fee unless you choose to.  If you use the bitcoin official client (which I assume slush doesn't) you go to the preferences and populate the field that says,  wait for it...! "Pay transaction fee:"  thus the payment of a transaction fee is entirely up to the user.

I would like to see pools share the block fees among miners at some point.

I know the fees are small at the moment, but maybe something to think about for the future.

Agreed!  While these aren't a huge amount yet they are increasing and will become a larger part of the "reward" for hashing in the future, especially when the reward drops from 50 to 25 BTC for a solved block.

When the block being solved awards transaction fees, are those being divided up amongst participants?

No, fees are currently not divided, as in other pools.

You ever plan in implementing that? I think it would be a neat additional reward for mining with your pool. Let's be honest here even with just solved blocks with 2% you're still making a nice bit of money.

Just a quick question slush.  You probably answered this before but I can't see going through all 125 pages of this thread!  When the block being solved awards transaction fees, are those being divided up amongst participants or do you keep them in addition to the 1 BTC fee?
Yup it's interesting. How is it handled?
Now there is not too much fees in a block byt they will appear more and more often...

Confirmed is when the network knows it's valid because it's been accepted into a long enough chain of blocks. Slush doesn't pay until 100 confirmations have occurred otherwise he'd be "out of pocket" if the block was later found to be invalid. The stats page is a good one to look at to get an idea by looking under validity it will drop from 100 confirmations left to confirmed.

Typically a new block is found around every 10 minutes or 6 an hour, so it takes around 16 hours subject to some variance. I'm not sure how it fits in with the transaction fees as above, but you might find it best to set a limit that gives a payment about once a day so you don't end up with a wallet full of tiny transactions anyway. That'll have some implications on speed versus fees when you go to spend them.

This is what I'm curious about now!

Current shares CFD:                         100.00 %
Current Bitcoin block#:                             0

bitcoind on webserver stopped working, it is running now. This is really annoying, because pool is using last bitcoind version which should solve lockup problems and it fall down after long time of smooth operation...

Well c'mon now slush, you gotta help it get back up Wink
