Slush,
Sometimes my router down (for serveral hours), then when it back I get this
Quote
No more backup pools left. Using primary and starting over.
I use latest poclbm
You should ask for help from whoever wrote your miner.  I don't think slush's pool has anything to do with your problem.

this space intentionally left blank
Just wanted to point out that there seems to be a little HTML error in the payout notification.

the [2] in the following needs to be excluded ftrom the html code or moved away by one space from the adress:

Code:
Payment processing through Bitcoin network may take between 30 minutes to 3
hours. You can watch current payment status on
[http://www.blockexplorer.com/address/1--------------------------------][2].
If you see payment on Block Explorer and not in your Bitcoin client, please
try to rescan your wallet using command "bitcoin.exe -rescan", verify that
your client is up to the latest block or ask on Bitcoin forum for any other
help.

Here is the bogus addresses for everyone to see.
False Bitcoin Address : 1AzUM6p7DdxBDHaMCnk7nmAcbFRXzotuoU
False Namecoin Address : NAiW3cn2rdhW9TP9HSVWTr4QaEAev6NfTd

Also, has anyone ever thought of creating a database of know addresses that have been involved with scams or robberies?

Its very hard to create a database of scam or robbery addresses.
Coz it will also create another BIG databases which will take time to download & waste hard disk space.
Already blockchain database reached 1+ GB.
Besides there are millions of addresses to create & if one address get scam name then thief will generate new address.
creating new address is very simple.

Trust me, these default swaps will limit the risks
@ Graet,
Yes I did use the same password at other sites and yes I have changed my password.

It would be awesome if you could insert an address into a little program, press enter, and the program spit out a result letting you know if that address is in the database and has been known to be used for scams in the past.

Hello everyone,
This is my first post since my newb status has finally passed although I have been reading these posts since about 2 months ago. Yesterday I finally registered in these forums because I noticed I had been robbed of a bitcoin while mining in slush's pool. Apparently someone had changed my bitcoin and namecoin address and also unchecked the box that notifies me when I have had a payout. So of course as soon as I noticed everything I immediately changed both addresses to the correct ones and then checked my emails because I receive emails almost anytime I alter my account there. Then it dawned on me, "Why didn't I receive emails when my addresses were changed just a few days earlier by the bandit?" So I tried to notify Slush about this and he responded but I don't really understand what his email is trying to tell me. Hopefully he can figure out what happened because I am stumped. I keep thinking about it and I can only think of 2 ways this could have happened.

1. The bastard whole stole my bitcoin also checked my email and deleted the two emails notifying me of the address changes a few days ago.

2. This is the work of a hacker who was able to prevent the emails from ever being sent.

Either way I hope slush can figure this out and I hope this hasn't happened to anyone else. I love mining in Slush's pool and hope to never experience this ever again.
did you use the same username/password on the pool as you have other sites?
have you changed your password yet?
this is the most usual way that single pool accounts get compromised.
did you save the "incorrect" addresses? a lot of ppl would be interested to see if it matches other addresses used by theifs

No, pool was up all the time. Connectivity issue?

Poor impulse control.
Try Ozcoin or EclipseMC, or Deepbit PPS if you can't hack variance.

Yeah, I know, but I was in the exams month when I set up my miners and I was kinda lazy on that. I'll have to do that, and decide on a backup pool.

You should probably have a backup pool set in your miner preferences.

It is a result of pool hoppers coming in at the beginning of a round.  The other half of your payout on shorter rounds is going to them.

Slush is currently working on a payout system that either eliminates this problem, or comes very close to it.  He said himself he is hoping to have it in place in a few days (only 4 posts back).

The new method eliminates the possibility of pool hopping completely. There is no possible way to mine it strategically. See the thread on DGM: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/double-geometric-method-hopping-proof-low-variance-reward-system-39497

Oh, wtf. I switched to slush specifically because I thought the scoring algorithm made it unprofitable to pool hop. D'oh.

His current scoring method does discourage pool hopping.  But it doesn't eliminate the profit from it all together.  The new method will eliminate any benefit from pool hopping period.
