If you have $42,000 then you should just buy bitcoins instead of litecoin because litecoin is nonsense after the segwit of bitcoin is already activated. Litecoin is just hyped right now because of its advantages like segwit and also the fast and cheaper transaction than bitcoin but after the august 1 which is the segwit2x then bitcoin will be the king of all currencies again.

ok good for you, but you don't need to repeat it in multiple comments

and it sometimes is so much better if you are more active in trading altcoins, rather than just buy and hold. that way you are also reducing the risk while maximizing the profit. for example selling yesterday on top could have meant a nice little profit to buy back more after it fell.

Holding LTC through what I think was multiple years in the $3s would be tough. I had a bunch of LTC, that I converted back to BTC when the conversion ratio was strong enough for me. I think I would have been like 15% more profitable if I would have held until now, but dollar for dollar I didn't do that bad on my timing in switching back to BTC.

If you are still holding them then don't sell any LTC but sell bitcoin to buy more LTC

people were crazy to pay $25 for LTC 3 years ago?
One other thing to think about: if you only held the $42K since 3 years ago you would've had $42K now but since you bought crypto and the most promising ones as well now you could have more than $100K if you sell them.

For sure when the op staryed this topic last 2014 and they hold their bitcoin and litecoin for sure they are now millionaire because they can earn a lot of profit. If they sell their bitcoin and litecoin. Byt bitcoin rpice is still increasing so its better if we hold our bitcoin now and wait the price to increase to the maximum price . Even the litecoin is now good and for sure if we invest that we can earn a lot of profit after that.

The op hasnt made just 20%, those reference if im not wrong is about litecoin value into btc i do believe, the exchange rate from dollars to his currency has changed a lot, i might be wrong but i believe 1 dollars were 2,50 real, not sure at all. This is the histories that make several people do risk over crypto, sure if he had went all into bitcoin he would had made 10x the value as well the ratio against is local currency.

Its a great success story but consider taking out some profits even if only a small portion. You say you could buy 3 appartments like the one you sold so why not buy one then the other 2 appartments worth you still HODL. That way even if your investment goes belly up you still have everything you need.

I think if you held all the LTC from the original time that you purchased, your profit margin may have finally caught up to if you would have put half in bitcoin and half in litecoin like I was recommended to do way back when the Original post was made.

LTC was sitting stagnate for so damn long but the Segwit stuff put LTC finally back on the map. That and coinbase finally adopting. That was what litecoiners were praying for for years!

Indeed. That amount can set up a real business that can give you steady earnings without risking losses in trading. Though i think it is reslly well worth it as well to invest in bitcoin, it's better to spread your capital especially if it's that big.

I don't see any reason why you shouldn't buy btc. With that amount you can buy a couple of bitcoins. I doubted litecoin price, choose another altcoins instead. Be updated on the new coins that is being introduced and invest in there but you do have a lot of amount man, don't invest it all in cryptocurrencies, do some business in the real world or buy lands and house. That amount is enough to start a good business. Be smart.

Perhaps you should do some profit booking now? Litecoin prices can't be trusted. The exchange rate fluctuations are similar to those with the other crypto-currencies. It can drop by 80% in a matter of few days. It might be a better idea to convert at least a small part of your holdings to BTC or fiat.

It feels really good to read such a success story. It made me think deeply what to do with the coins I hold and the best I can do is to hold the bitcoins. The only thing I didn't understand was why you invested 50-50 to bitcoin and litecoin and not 100 % in bitcoin ? I guess it was because you wanted to at least diversify the risk.
