I'm planning to do an initial investment of $500 in crypto currencies. $100 for 5 separate crypto currencies. I'm thinking of XRP, Adcoin, maybe Ethereum and 2 more. Any advice related to the choice of coin?
My goal is to find at least one Unicorn which will generate me maybe $30k in the next years. Which coins would you invest most likely in to achieve this goal?

If your goal is to turn $100 into $30,000 then I think there is no point investing in higher market cap coins because the room for growth is not there. Just imagine what it would take for Ethereum to grow 300 times bigger than it is now. The market cap would then be insane. So I think you could either make your goal smaller or put in more money, or if you want to stick to that goal then go for some obscure coins that are more of a gamble.
Keep an eye on Byteball if you believe in true innovation. Besides DAG, I don't know any other tech that scales better than blockchain.
My bet is in 2018 Ethereum will overcome Bitcoin in capitalisation.

Controversial Bailout Hard Fork Ethereum isn't worth more than a few million. Nick and Elaine are backing ETC. Vitalik the Bailout Kid may be Chancellor of his shitcoin but we don't have to validate his hubris.

Maid/ XBY - depends on the project's development stage can turn out to be a dark horse. If they are anywhere close to implementation, I do expect aleast 100X in both the counters.
NXS/ QRL - may be the coins for 2019 or 2020. I dont expect much from them in next year or so
Monetha - though I expect it to be a decent outing, but not sure how things are going to unfold
and the much discussed liked Waves and Stratis

I suggest five top coins personally something special for me such as firstly Waves is best coin and this coin is good effective coin i hope in December will be hit worth 8$-10$,ETB is another high optential coin and OMG is something different coin.
Imo the best risk-reward coins for mid/long-term (buy and HODL)

2. ETH: solid team, a lot of companies are invested in it. Once POS mining kicks in and more and more companies run products/projects on it the demand will be huge.
3. OMG: huge potential, solid team. Might be best positioned to become the first REAL large-scale crypto payment provider that the regular people will start using.
4: ICN (Iconomi): all devs will get all their ICN tokens, voting rights will be introduced for ICN holders. I think the ICN price is artificially low in order to have cheap buybacks. The price will blow up after October 2018 I think.
