I can feel your pain, dear but that why it's usually said that, "while gambling, only spend the amount you can afford to lose." In gambling, there's no certain strategy that works 100% every time but if you are a sport gambler, some time you could be more lucky if you use a good strategy to make your prediction but be aware not nothing is always certain in gambling.

Spending at least 3-5% of your salary will not cause you more harm that 20% and above will cause you.
Every game in the casino has it's own strategies, well except for those that are solely dependent on luck, like the roulette, dice games and the slot machines, these are games that depends only on how lucky the player is and not how experienced he is, but other games may have effective strategies that may give the gambler some sort of an edge, but as you've rightly said, it still doesn't guarantee any wins.

2. Tell someone: You have to have at least one person in your life (the more the better) to whom you can share your feelings and let them know about your situation. It will help a lot because if you continue to live in isolation with that feeling, trust me, you will not be capable of taking care of yourself.

Let me emphasise more on this because the aspect of telling someone is very crucial in regarding gambling matters, because they can either break you or make you.first thing to do after having such huge loss it to entirely take a long break then after which limit your gambling habits, so having someone in your life don't really matter except it's someone that advises you to avoid such gambling activities.

It's better to just step away from the game itself for a few days and see how it goes. I know that feeling though, last week I lost some big money, for two straight days, and whenever I played after that, I still take a big L.

So I said to myself, that I need to slow down for now, as I'm having a unlucky week. That's why I do for now, although I'm tempted to play because online games are accessible, I try as hard as I can to not to as the damage is going to be too emotional for me. The money yeah, you can recover if, but the psychological tear is killing me.

That's the problem with online gambling, easy accessibility makes it so addictive and it's always tempting to go back even after deciding not to. Like you said taking a step back is what is needed most times, you made the right decision and it's going to be a tough one because the thought of recovering your losses would always come into your mind. if you bounce back and decide to gamble again perhaps you should consider changing the game you have been playing, switch to something new , who knows you might get lucky with something different.

It's a good piece you have there, thank you for it. I am not a gambling addict and neither have I had any issue related to gambling but at times when I see what will help others, I appreciate it as if it is me who it will help.

As for the points, they are accurate enough but they depend on the stage of the addiction. I believe that anyone who can accept the loss is already a winner because if you accept the loss then you will move on and it ends like that. This may not need telling people as stated in point number 2. But if the person is of the weak mind, why not? This will help to build the mind better. I know because I have been in that shoes before, telling people about your addiction helps a lot if you can't use professional help yet.
All these points are worth studying for those who are just planning to start getting involved in gambling, it is better to immediately understand what the consequences may be and the best ways to solve them. Players who take more risks and get into problems are most often loners, according to my observations, do not belong to any communities and do not read forums, which is why they lack knowledge and experience.

Prevention is better than cure, instead of waiting on losing this big first why can't you stop it from happening? The one thing you must do is avoid losing big then these 5 things won't matter.

It is only a greedy person that will want to win big in gambling which will lead to big loss eventually, stop using huge amounts to gamble, and start learning how to lower your risks by using very small amount.

If one thing leads to another and you end up losing a lot of money you should let go completely else you will start thinking about how to recover the money, and this will make you lose even more.

I can see the problem, I think you lack control and I cannot blame you for that. Gambling can do that to gamblers and that's because we are trying to chase our losses, we want revenge, and we want back whatever they took from us even if it means using a lot of our money. That's the wrong approach but when you are in that moment, you are not thinking straight anymore and so you keep on depositing without even thinking twice of what you are doing.
I think I had been in those moments a lot of times but thankfully I learned my lessons.
All we need is a pause on what we are doing so that we can realize that we are already making a big mistake in our lives. Then, that's when we can somehow control our gambling habits.

Accepting the loss is the best thing a gambler can do when he loses a lot. When someone accepts his loss with an open heart, it means that he realizes that he has lost and does not feel that he has to cover the loss and stress about it - accept everything and let it go. Although it is not easy to do this, every gambler must do it if they do not want to be stressed for a long time just because they do not accept the loss. And also another key is that someone needs to gamble according to their ability and not exceed the limits they have set if they want to stay relaxed even when they lose.

I liked the part where OP mentioned that we should tell someone about our losses.
I can relate it. People are usually jealous if we win something or we are happy but when we lose something it's good to share it with others.
The reason is because we tend to feel lighter when we share our sorrow and people don't get jealous over it or judge us.
I might not share your ideas on this one or just can’t relate because, it really doesn’t matter much to me how or what other might feel about the outcome of my bet. I’m not getting any form of compensation from it at least, in fact, I feel they would find it humorous and so, I just don’t share. I rather stay private and come to think of it, should you have someone that would be jealous over your wins, what makes you think those set of persons would offer some genuine sympathy when you lose?
It doesn’t sound like a good idea but, whatever works right…!

You have a point there. If we share our losses with someone who might get jealous on our wins then the sympathy showed by them on our losses might not be genuine.
You changed my perspecitve now and I think it's better off not to share either the wins or the losses with such people afterall.
Yet, there will be few people in our life who would genuinely care about us and may be it might be better if we share our losses with them ?
Afterall, we do feel lighter when we share our sorrow with others. I am not talking about betting losses but sadness in general.
One of the main reasons on why i do really decide up to play on my own or simply having no accompanies or friends is that whenever you do make out some wins and they are suffering on the other way around
then this will really be bringing out that kind of guilt feeling on which you will really be trying out to show up some sympathy into your friends in regarding into their condition. The question is, what if you are on the losing side or condition? Would they be doing the same thing? Of course they wont or really having no guarantees. This is why if you do really want to avoid such scenario or condition then it will really be better to gamble on your own and dont mind others situation because it will really be just that might be ending up some potential troubles on which this will really be causing up some relationship gaps due to those kind of losing moment and trying out to show some fake concern or sympathy. Also, when you are on a huge loss then it will really be that understandable or common sense that you should be stopping on playing completely or calling it a day. Never ever make yourself do make out some more deposit because it will really be just that making the situation getting more worst. So if you dont like to mess up your finances with
gambling then it will really be ideal that you should really be that sensible into the actions that you are making and not really just carelessly trying out to chasing up those loses and decided to deposit even more
on which i could say that it would really be that a suicide action.

When you lose gambling, it becomes difficult to accept that defeat because you lose money there. Anyone with money can easily afford to lose money on bets. But a poor man who gambles to double his money can never accept losing.
It is just the mindset that has been buried that money can always be made in gambling, that is is why when they lose they believe by playing continuously money can be recovered back again. Gamblers with this kind of mindset always fall prey to addiction  because one of the cause of addiction is believing money can be gotten by all means in gambling.  Gambling is fun when loses are let go, and it is better to gamble with a fresh mind, it helps one to take out the sense of greed.
Quote
Everyone should not know our losses despite growing up and should speak directly from the front instead of talking back. I like to gamble in secret so that no one can think of my loss.
No matter how you gamble very responsible, those who are not into gamble will always criticise you, i don't see reason why it should be known to people.

Take a break. A break is like a detoxifier. And while on the break don't engage in any activity that can trigger one to engage even if it is "a little" in gambling. While on the break read a book, take that course, learn that skill, do something that is outdoorsy and involves a group of people. While on the break, volunteer in an organization that engages in public good. While on the break, start that business. There are so many things to do after a huge loss that can't even be summarized into just 5 points. But then thank you for bringing it up.
It is a general agreement that the best thing to do after a huge lose in gambling is to take a break and I'd say let the break last for as long as necessary for the gambler. Within the interval the person should try as much as possible to preoccupy his mind with activities that are not gambling related, so that they won't be dwelling on the painful lose. Most of my posts on this gambling discussion board, I never fail to repeat what I've learned from this board when it's necessary and that is to always gamble with the amount that you can afford to loose. A person that gambles with a small amount, depending on the level of their income will not have such a heartbreak when they lose.

Actually, if at the process of gambling to make profits you lost a huge amount of money I doubt that you will quite gambling for ever because you lost a huge sum of your money. In my opinion, I think you would probably continue gambling (even if it's not that same day). The mindset of a gambler that's gambling to make huge profits from gamble is always different from those that are gambling for entertainment. When you gamble for profits you will lose more and most of the times it probably because you gamble with what you can neither afford to lose.
I have seen a case whereby the gambler just received his monthly Salaries and he went to a gamble shop and gamble with all his salary and he haven't settled his monthly bills before gambling with the rest of the money. So am just trying to say that when you are gambling for profits it would be difficult for you to quite after losing because you would feel like you have waisted your money for nothing but when you are gambling for entertainment, you will not feel too bad about the money you lost because you risked what you can afford to lose.

No one enjoys losing money. No matter the amount, we’d always rather win and earn instead of keep losing. However, it may soften the blow if your money is not the money you’re going to use to pay the bills. Now, that can surely hurt more. Betting inly your extras will allow you to get disappointed a bit and then move on. Harder to move on when you’ve lost all of your money in betting and now you don’t know where to get money from.

Here’s the thing, we all hate losing, right? But gambling is called entertainment for a reason. The truth is most of the time, gamblers end up on the losing side. It’s just how it goes. No matter how hard we try, the house usually wins. But if we’re having fun and enjoying the thrill while gambling, then honestly, that’s already a win in itself.
The problem is many people can not accept their losses and change their mindset from having fun through gambling into recover their losses. That will make them want to revenge their losses and play gambling longer than usual.
They don't know that can makes them lose more money but their minds already closed by the losses and makes them insist to recover their losses. They can not consider that gambling is an entertainment but as a place to make money so when they losse, they think to recover their money first and then winning the games.
If they can not change their mindset, they will only losses more and more money. But they will difficult to win as their minds can not thinks clear about playing gambling moderately.

Personally, I’m going through a healing process too and reading these tips early in the morning has been really helpful for me at least for the rest of my day. First, when I had to start with accepting the loss I encountered was really difficult but it also resonates deeply as it’s such a necessary first step to let go of guilt and begin to heal. Expressing emotions for me wasn’t ideal as I had to make it with online friends only but even through crying or just talking to yourself really does make a difference. I believe that suppressing feelings only makes the pain linger longer.

The advice to talk to someone is so true. It’s hard to open up but I think when you do it lightens the emotional load that’s why in my case I felt good once I started the topic here in Reputation section. I also love the idea of socializing more, getting out, playing games, or even going for a trip sounds like a great way to reset mentally and step away from those bad thoughts.

And that last philosophical point? It hit me hard you know? Life itself is a miracle, and even when it feels like everything’s gone wrong, we get stronger than we can imagine. These reminders help put everything into perspective

There’s a saying that you forget everything after you gamble. Anything that happened in the casino stay in the casino.  Cheesy

Seriously, we should just gamble what we can afford to lose and all this thoughts of regret will not a big deal anymore.

Yea, if perhaps one gambles with just a small amount that will not mean so much to them, then the person can easily forget about it when they lose the money but if the person was gambling for just the intention to double that money and also spend the money that he wanted to use for something else, then it will be difficult to let go. That's why some gambling go back home to pour their anger on their family member as if they asked them to go and gamble.

I do agree, that will be the initial reaction, that you will think to leave gambling for good because you have lost a money that you have worked very hard. But the question is, how can you get tempted and really put everything on the line? And with that kind of mindset, all I'm saying that, sooner or later you might give a second thought and gamble once again because you want to recover that money. Maybe the better approach is that lit it sit for a while and see how it goes. And if you learn from that lesson, maybe the next time you got to scratch that itch, then just play small, just deposit enough and have fun and enjoy.

Playing all-in leaves no chance to win, if you get lucky once, then everything will be lost the next time, and if a player allows himself to play all-in once, then I have almost no doubt that he will try to do it again. Maybe this will become a lesson, and it will never happen again, but I do not really believe in it, because I think that people do not change. Gambling is also a responsibility, if you treat it frivolously, there will be losses.

All gamblers go through it and some learn how to be more responsible with their money. It's easy to get carried away when we gamble... when we win we think how happy we are and want more, when we lose we think that a big win is very close. That's why it's important to talk about responsible gambling, only deposit what you can afford to lose, play around, and have fun.

After big gains/losses, we should take breaks, that's the only thing that can cool us down a bit and bring us back to earth. It's not good to make hasty moves... I remember to that sometimes, I'm one of those people who easily fall into the fire. But I know that fire can burn me, and it has happened many times. In any case, after big losses, I can curse the casino and myself, but after that I just say that my moment will come. Life goes on, better luck next time... it all takes a minute or two.
