Saw this study on twitter... https://twitter.com/Zeex_me/status/978981735101878272

I've seen a lot of people asking about how many legit ICOs there are, so I thought I'd share

Quote from the article: "The study begins by breaking down ICOs into 6 groups: Scam, Failed, Gone Dead, Dwindling, Promising, Successful. “On the basis of the above classification,” they wrote, “we found that approximately 81% of ICO’s were Scams, ~6% Failed, ~5% had Gone Dead, and ~8% went on to trade on a exchange.”

"Scams were defined by researchers as “Any project that expressed availability of [an] ICO investment (through a website publishing, ANN thread, or social media posting with a contribution address), did not have/had no intention of fulfilling project development duties with the funds, and/or was deemed by the community (message boards, website or other online information) to be a scam.”

DYOR people ...
Now a lot of ICO scams and I advise not to risk and it is better to buy coins later on the market.

I don't see if ICO that scam reaches 80%. So far I am following project ICO, ICO I got was a success. There are many ways to get the excellent ICO and certainly, it should be with the process. You should be careful before deciding to follow the ICO project.

Yehh, that's a huge issue. I think this is the reason for governments not ready to accept crypto currencies.

At present, there are many ICO failures due to the failure of sales results. There may be some reasons, but if token sales reach the hard disk, it will make the ICO project a successful ICO. In my opinion, only 60 perscent.

Now the sphere of ICO has become a pure business solely for the sake of money. The team is engaged in the "development " of the project only for the sake of raising money on ICO. After that, the project is slowly closed, or its price falls to the bottom, where it becomes a object for pumps.

scam ico are a big problem today. no one knows in advance whether an ico is scam or real . Now really a lot of scam projects, but I think not more than 30% or 40%   The remaining projects do not reach the soft cap today. it is a difficult market at this time and people have no confidence to invest in ico

His growing ICO growth that scam currently makes the community crypto restless and afraid to follow ICO again. However, although there are many scams, the legitimate ICO also still has a lot, Qualifications in following the ICO is now increasingly made strict rules. If you can get a legitimate ICO of sufficient quality, you will get many benefits.
I think that has something to do with this saturated market situation. Scam projects are sometimes caused by unachievable sales targets, either because of a less realistic project or due to less professional management. Increasingly difficult to determine profitable ICO, ICO rating is no longer a guarantee, many predictions are missed.

I think the saturated market situation is the number one reason ICO investors don't see profits when trying to flip on an exchange. The interest and the demand has dropped as many people left the crypto space. I see this also with people around me were very interested last year are not talking about it anymore.

Sad to say but you might actually right. More and more ICOs of today are becoming scam and they are killing the true rationale and purpose of an ICO. Its all because of people who are so greedy about money. What we should do is to be more critical and observant in choosing the right ICO. If we are smart enough to choose the right ICO, we can minimize the scammers.

Seriously, you are right because ICO that become successful nowadays is very small, what am looking forward to is that, there should be a regulatory authority that should be in-charge of ICOs.... At least, this will limit the scam of project. Am looking forward to that.

Because there is no legal regulation. People who do ICO are not afraid of the authorities. However, this will change soon.
Yes you are right.  Therefore, I advise you to check all the information and if everything is good, then you can invest in ICO.

Most of the ICOs are scams and it is very difficult to identify which one  is genuine. So check the team and project before taking part.

90% of ICO should be fraudulent, and the remaining 10% will have a chance to succeed! I think investing in ICO is similar to buying a lottery! I do not recommend investing in any ICO projec

Fraudulent sounds a bit to harsh. Most of them might be simply trash and won't succeed.

yes may be. before you invest on ICO's make sure to read the all the documents, articles and etc to get the idea about it. and also don't forget to get the advise from the market specialist.
I agree.  Before investing it is necessary to study the information about the company and all the same it does not guarantee that this is not a scam project.

Yes there are plenty of scam projects and they are making troubles for good ideas.

I am not aware that 80% of ICOs launched are scam, maybe they are just trying to develop something but they don't finished it. In my insight all the campaigns that I have supported are all successful and will be successful because I evaluate first the ICO before I join them. MAybe we should have a raw basis that it is true before we say the percentage.
