Saying that scam ICOs take up 80% of ICOs in general and that just 20% are legit might not be accurate. Most of the ICOs i have come across are genuine, although i have read about some alarms raised as regards scam ICO, but i have not by chance participated in any of them.

This might be true. Although, not all failed ICOs are scam, but we most times see them as scam, because they could not deliver their mandate. On the other hand, i think a careful study of all projects before investing into them, will avoid falling victim of scam.

Probably yes almost ICO's right now are scams and you must be aware with that to avoid losing your money, time and efforts. That's why this makes people disappointed to partie or invest to some ICO with a real platform and a good purpose and development.

Yes, I think it is better to invest on the cryptocurrency market directly, it is less risky and has already been established, ICOs on the other hand are unestablished projects, not saying that you should avoid them completely, but you should definitely think carefully when investing in them.

80% of ICOs end up being unsuccessful sounds much more legit to me. 80% of businesses fail sounds legit. I don't think the scams are more than 9-10% of the ICOs.

80% are scams. 80% of the rest fail, as any startup. This is much fairer to me.

Yes, some can not raise funds, some can not release a good product in the end. This does not mean scams, this means that people do not know how to plan correctly or do not cope with the task.

Currently there are many not successful ico, as their sales results did not reach softcap. When the market falls I do not recommend participating in the ICO.

Yehh, that's a huge issue. I think this is the reason for governments not ready to accept crypto currencies.
I don't aree with you. Doverment worry about avoiding of taxes. Scamers aren't a big promlem for them.

Dont know about accurate % calculating, but from what i read here on forum i guess it is true, and almost 80% - 90% of all ICOs are scams, which is ridiculous.

Saw this study on twitter... https://twitter.com/Zeex_me/status/978981735101878272

I've seen a lot of people asking about how many legit ICOs there are, so I thought I'd share

Quote from the article: "The study begins by breaking down ICOs into 6 groups: Scam, Failed, Gone Dead, Dwindling, Promising, Successful. “On the basis of the above classification,” they wrote, “we found that approximately 81% of ICO’s were Scams, ~6% Failed, ~5% had Gone Dead, and ~8% went on to trade on a exchange.”

"Scams were defined by researchers as “Any project that expressed availability of [an] ICO investment (through a website publishing, ANN thread, or social media posting with a contribution address), did not have/had no intention of fulfilling project development duties with the funds, and/or was deemed by the community (message boards, website or other online information) to be a scam.”

DYOR people ...

Yes, you are correct as of now thier are a lot of scammed ICO they corrupt all our money. That's is why we need to do a certain research before we decided to choose that ICO. So that we will know that they are purely legit ICO.
during this bounty I think to distinguish between good ICOs and deceptive ICOs, it is very difficult. we must prove it by seeing its progress gradually before we decide to join it, and that takes a long time

you are very rigth but percentage can not be, I follow the rating, and sometimes those ICO projects that have gone out of their way, come back, most just stop believing in these projects after this and that's all, this cut a percentage.

Those people who have more or less understanding of project evaluations can easily avoid scammers. The other thing is that most people are still naive and continue to believe the loud promises.

Yes, I agree with you, most of the projects are scammers. But we should not be upset, because among a lot of scammers you can find some good projects.

Now investing in ICO is very risky and you can lose all your money.  Therefore, I advise you not to risk and not invest in companies that you do not trust.

But so the rest of the percentage is very good ICO, which are worthy of attention and investment. I hope this will be corrected soon, and the percentage of good ICO will be much higher .

So it approximately and is. And because of the lack of control over ICO, fraud is rampant. The market needs regulation.
