When new wallet is going to be ready?
Q1 2018 sounds reasonable, I'd love to announce take-off in January but we wait way too long for this release to bug it out.

When new wallet is going to be ready? Old wallet seems to scare people off. Is it even worth fixing?

Maybe when current chain reaches block 1188888 the new wallet will be ready.

Or maybe on January 8th 2018.

I don't know, but it sounds like it is coming up soon, I'd love to hear a firm date myself if anyone's got it, but understand if this is still unknown.

The old wallet isn't being "fixed", it is being "replaced" by an entirely new codebase (PIVX v3), so anyone scared off over the years will find it a much more pleasant experience once the new code/chain are implemented.

Don't know about the scared off, the price has really been on fire lately. Love it!

Happy Christmas guys & gals.

A thought for 8bit community going into 2018:

John McAfee recently tweeted about the value of privacy coins

https://twitter.com/officialmcafee/status/941003398215761922

tl;dr  - they have the greatest future/potential.

Bodes well for 8bit with the upcoming implementation of PIVX codebase including private send and zerocoin protocol   Grin

Bring on 2018  for 8bit...

I tried to build masternode, took sources from here: https://github.com/8bit-dev/8bit
But in order to get it running I had to actually edit sources and call dead code that is responsible for reading masternode.conf.
Is it supposed to be like that, or I am missing something?

Hello Smiley

Yes there are some unusual parts to current codebase, there is currently a major 8bit upgrade under development and soon to be launched. New wallets, new features etc.

If you've got any suggestions or pull requests in the meantime though, I'm sure the community would be happy with the input.

So are you doing a upgrade of the current codebase to the PIVX codebase on the current chain? Or do you plan to do a coin swap?

I guess it is neither (in other words - something in between). The new codebase will be completely different from existing one, and will be PIVX v3-based.
However there is no coin swap planned, as the new PIVX-based codebase is going to be modified to accept the private keys from the current one. At least this is the plan, as far as I understand.

Why don't you provide the links I can't open, it seems that the project is not developing, or the project is in the adjustment?

We are in adjustment/transition, hold tight.

man do you use the correct git version?? the only thing that needs to be edited in order to compile the wallet is the following:

I thankfully used that guide and did use the git source. I think it is due to my fully upgraded Ubuntu version. I had some problems compiling other wallets also due to this.

It is your Ubuntu version that is giving you trouble. I can't get it running on Ubuntu 17.04, but it does run on my Ubuntu 16.04 machine

I did some moving around and got myself a 16.04 server. Compiling went much smoother this time. It was syncing alright but used a lot of server resources.
At current point is is using 1gb Ram + 1gb swap + 100% CPU load constantly. It stopped syncing also.

I'll give it another go with a fresh database. If you guys say it should work, than it is going to work.

** just reloaded the bootstrap file. And started 8Bitd - rescan. Again it is draining all server resources, but seems to be syncing from block 983236.
Anyone able to share his latest DB? This is going to take forever it seems.

so whats up, guys. This project is still alive?

Some content from page 1 seems dead

Alive yes, a new thread is currently in the making, the original thread maker is no longer here so we can't edit the first post.

Yeah, also we can always introduce feature flags for smelly stuff like zerocoin implementation and enable them once they mature. Win-win

I think that will be the best option
