So my wife and i has a big wine 🍇 store and this includes other drinks as well, we sell in packs, and loads of people always come around to buy from us, I am thinking if this is a good opportunity to start promoting Bitcoin? I mean if some can pay Bitcoin for goods and services it will help even if they are few.

I believe this can make people start wondering what Bitcoin is and I will be waiting for questions like

What is bitcoin?

What benefits come from using it as payment?

Then I will give my answer and see if any people become more interested in it, some have heard about it but they have a wrong perspective of what Bitcoin is leading to believe it's a scam.  What do you think?
In such cases, I always think that YES instead of NO. Try to implement your plan and see where it leads. In my opinion, you have nothing to lose.

You can write down a discount for paying with a bitcoin as a benefit for buyers. Make a discount of at least a symbolic 5% and then it will be an attractive offer for them. To be honest, it seems to me that the discount should be higher, because people will lose on the commissions of exchangers, which will also push them away from paying in bitcoin. Calculate the approximate costs for the exchange rate + your discount and you will get the figure that will be of interest to buyers.

Accepting Bitcoin as a means of payment is one way to bring publicity to the network and attract people to using it. You can also explore other options to make it more attractive to your customers like;

• Selling Bitcoin collectibles,
• Having Bitcoin themes designs in your store and possibly exploring NFTs (it has bad rep around here and has hit some downtime, but it's still an attractive option),
• Running Bitcoin quizzes and games.

All these are cost effective means if bringing attention to Bitcoin.

As long as you're confident that you can actually give great answers that doesn't make Bitcoin sound like a pump-and-dump scheme, then sure.

In my opinion, a quick conversation in your store isn't ample enough time for them to get a good grasp on what Bitcoin is and why it's important. Idunno, probably hand out small strips of paper with links to education material?

There's nothing new if you starts accepting bitcoin, well to my best knowledge it would be a win win move for you because those who wants to pay through bitcoin would be very much easier for them and also for you as the receiver, if bitcoin price soar along the line then you have more profits during conversion to USD or to your local currency (fiat). As well as giving bitcoin a maximum exposure within or around your locality.

You should also look into how to accept payments with bitcoin lightning network.
I believe the lightning network was created to allow more efficient means for retailers to accept btc payments.

Bitcoin Lightning Payment Solutions
A look at open-source and corporate point-of-sale systems from BTCPay to Confirmo, so any merchant can start accepting BTC in 2023.

It is a great way to promote Bitcoin. You should definitely try that out but, keep your expectations low when it comes to sales via crypto. Online stores works the best for that(maybe set one up for delivery?) and is safer for you as well. You could wait for the confirmations first on blockchain and then start delivering the goods. Regarding those questions, you could set up a FAQ board along with a "Bitcoin accepted here and the QR code" sign.

It depends on where you live and whether there are a lot of bitcoin users in your area, or you can promote your trade through social media or where you trade with flyers so you can accept bitcoin payments.
and if your business always has a lot of people coming to buy i think there is nothing wrong with you doing that and i think now everyone knows what bitcoin is and what bitcoin is used for. And the advantage you get if you accept bitcoin as payment is, when the bitcoin price goes up, your previous profit will double according to the bitcoin price.
and I suggest you keep it for the long term, and if there is something to buy for your business, put it on fiat and let your bitcoin work and grow.
and ignore those who think bitcoin is a fraud because there are still many people who believe in it.

That seems like a great idea. People who buy wine tend to have more money to spend on investments, and tend to be more educated which means they are more open to learning about something like bitcoin and using it.

I think it's a test you can run without causing yourself, your business, your clients or the community any harm (at least, if you don't use an external payment provider, don't accept 0 conf transactions, make sure you keep your wallet safe, and convert sufficient BTC to FIAT to make sure you can pay your own vendors/taxes/...).

Honestly, going on the little bit of experience i have by helping to setup and maintain a small online store, i don't think you'll make a lot of sales using BTC... But the cost of accepting bitcoin *can* be 0, so it's defenately worth a try. The more stores accepting BTC, the more "mainstream" we become.

Good luck Smiley
