What do you think about RealCoin?

It seems to be generating some enthusiasm, but that's hardly uncommon. The creator's web site suggests it's the latest of a number of luke-warm attempts. Either way, it'll be interesting to see what happens.
is this safe to download??

idk, i think a couple alt coins might be helpful, the litecoin faq argues that having more than one crypto currency is better than having one single one which can fail.

thanks for the warning though

First post.  I'm currently mining Litecoin and Feathercoin, using 7950s, not overclocking, just stock.  3 of them are working Litecoin, 4 of them working Feathercoin.  Currently about 2.4 Litecoin per day, and about 60 Feathercoin a day.  Using Coinotron.com.  Earlier today I switched, because Coinotron was reporting the "Profitability" of them was 1.15 (LTC) and 1.50 (FTC), against BTC at 1.0.

Right now, they're 1.13 (LTC) and 1.03 (FTC), so I'm thinking about switching back to LTC.

I'm also considering writing a script that would read the "Profitability" and switch miners to use the most profitable.  It would run once per hour (user-configurable, perhaps 5 minutes would be better?), and would switch all miners to the most profitable.

It would probably use an external site, so I would configure each miner to pull its script from there, and then when I update it, it would see that it was updated, pull down the new script, and restart itself.

At any rate, I then wondered, since I had this idea -- has anyone else?  Would hate to reinvent the wheel, even if it means I'm flexing my brain on a challenging problem.

The best alt coin is Gold Coin (GLD)!!  Grin

LOL!~~ya physical gold coins! Wink

Quite basicly MicroGuy loves GLD because he is an old domainer and loves the letters GLD and loves it cause
he thinks that GoldCoin carrys some of the legacy that real gold has and who can blame him it is a good name

its just ashame the original dev couldn't even sustain an erection in the playboy mansion let alone sustain this coin
and his fail launch of Quickcoin was probs the most interesting ive seen haha

It's true that there's a huge saturation of alt coins in the market now, which is devaluting a lot of them.  It's hard to say which coins will gain in value in the future; sometimes you never know.
what is a alt coin are they like lite coins and such?

Some people consider anything other than BTC an alt coin. Others only consider secondary coins (coins that can't be mined directly) as secondary coins. Another definition is on the Exchange sites. Some classify certain VC as primary market, secondary market, etc. down to "trash" and "scam" coins.

Could you please elaborate on WDC? Is it considerably different from LTC and BTC?

Hey everyone. I have a bit of an issue going on here. I just started mining AmericaCoins or wth they are called at the Americancoin mining pool a little over 24 hours ago. I have yet to see one block paid out to me. At first I thought the confirmations where just really slow, but now I know that we are confirming blocks that I should be getting paid shares from and I'm not getting anything. Still showing everything as pending, not verified. Anyone else having this problem with Americancoin mining pool or other Americancoin pools?

If they are ripping me off I will just join a different pool.

I just finally got some of my credit. I will stay with this pool for now, thanks!

It would be nice if we could potentially track or create a trust list of reliable download points and legitimate alt currencies. I may have to work on this.
I set up a site a few weeks ago that shows coins and their values (and your earnings w/ hashrate). www.WhereToMine.com Is that what you were looking for?  It's a new site so, I'm open to suggestions on it.

that is nice attempt to replicate exacting sites, but you did not answer that question actually, for example for TRC there is a link to http://terracoin.org/,  very nice I can use google for that. It is a lot of time have to be spend from comming to http://terracoin.org/  and actually getting into mining it.

If you will share your personal experience (or some who willing to share their experience) in mining all those coins that would be much more valuable
