Terminated.
If you may ask me, this is pretty scary as hell. I know I have never plagiarized in the past or shared contents without citing sources but hey, I have seen legendary members, even some DT members and also people who have been bursting plagiarized white papers get the bans lately  Shocked
I'm just waiting for something to nuke me: It's very likely that I made a mistake somewhere during my shitposting days. Cheesy

So those autobans are global mods?
Yes (or admins). Autoban = any normal ban.

Moderators will always check the reports for legitimacy. There will be no bans where it's not cleat that a user is a plagiarizer or at least I don't know any user being banned without reason.
Ban is the hardest punishment and therefore an individual checking by mods is inevitable.

Moderators cant ban Users , only Global Mods and admins as far i know !

For those who suspect me, It's not me. I would love to spare some more free time to investigate them but nowadays I have just small 5-10 min breaks in which I visit the forum and it's mainly for reading.

It's summer time and when I finish building the new veranda I'll have my free time Smiley

Good to hear that the system is working, good luck to the one who is doing it Smiley

Weak sauce, only 6 lies in 5 sentences, that's gonna bring your average down. Try harder lest Livecoin fire you for not enough shitposting.

So someone created a working bot to detect them?

I have no idea how he spots them but he does a good job.
Suchmoon is transparently one of the people who is reporting plagiarized posts (I am not sure if this is who you are referring to). She is transparently scraping posts in the forum and putting them in some kind of database, which is concerning for a variety of reasons, including the type of business she is in and her lack of integrity. She is most probably cross referencing posts in her database with some other database and/or with google/another search engine.

She also targets, in part specific members, and I know this because she was able to cite a plagiarized post that Redsn0w created from many years ago that was written in a thread with a very small number of posts, and the most recent post in the thread was also from many years ago. I would not make her a mod, and I think a decent number of people would leave if she was made a mod, or if it was discovered she was a mod.

All of the posts here are all public with the exception of a few boards? (No idea what they are, not the point) so if all the information is public anyway, why does it matter if its collected and saved or not? If you think anything you publicly post on the internet isn't saved than you are just kidding yourself.

Patrollers (at one point, the majority of mods were patrollers -- moderators of newbies) can ban Brand New and Newbie accounts.

Bot will be the most shitty idea. And like in movies, his creator will be banned by cold hearted machine  Grin

I'm pretty curious on who that user is, let me guess?
ICOEthics? Coolcryptovator? Last guess would be iasenko?

I think you missed one potential member who could do this work!

Veleor

He is been spotting Plagraized Posts from much time too.

Even if a decent contributing member is banned in this saga, he could just appeal about it. As Theymos has already said this is a case-by-case approach and would be handled same.

No God or Kings, only BITCOIN.
If whoever he/she is or who they are that job is worthy of praise eliminating people that doesn't make an effort over what he/she post because from what I see here on Meta most banned accounts are linked to plagiarism. What makes me boggle is the Meta board is experiencing spam over this issues and hoping sooner or later banned appeals will have its own board or childboard here in Meta.

And the number increasing after you made this post.

The person who is reporting them should probably just be made a mod and I've suggested so in the past.
If he's that spot-on and is responsible for this many members getting banned, he not only should be made a mod but tapped for forum sainthood or something.  I was wondering what was going on this past couple of days with so many new ban appeal threads in Meta.  It was quiet for a bit and then suddenly exploded.

is it just a coincidence that this accounts are getting banned as bitcoin is experiencing some upward price trend
Yeah, probably just a coincidence but who knows.  This forum tends to get very active when bitcoin starts up on one of its bull runs, and it gets a lot of noobs trying to join campaigns/bounties, trying to scam with loans, and a bunch of other shenanigans.  I'm not sad that all these accounts got the boot.  On the contrary, I hope the pace of banning them picks up.

Anyways, that's already a ton of a job, I just tried to make a report about a 50 on the last day, and its pretty time consuming and it really gets me tired.

Somone's been very busy reporting copy and pasters.
That means current action against plagiarism based on report, forum isn't detective it self. Don't know who is that but doing good job at all.
So moderators also become very busy lately due to report  Grin

My question is why now?

Its really not matter of time. I don't think someone targeting any specific persons. This is just a normal procedure and moderators are verifying that before ban any account. Moderators are not just banning based on report, obviously they check report legitimacy.

My question is why now?

I don't think there is a specific reason as to why now. That script has been working for more than 9 months to my knowledge and the user behind it is not anonymous, many people know who that is (good job from me too Tongue).

I'm pretty sure he isn't targeting DTs, Russians or any specific signature campaign participants...as some comments in other threads suggested. I guess he had some free time to report.
