I may understand your plight to be frank, OP.
In trying to reduce the post count because the merit score doesn't quite say how great a persons effort or input has been so far, it simply means one might be ashamed of failure and rarely do learn from it.
I sincerely have pondered on this kinda scenario but lacked the grit to articulate it here properly.
So many other persons agree that one's post count is like an archive or a library of thoughts, so why delete or clean it off?
References can be made with such post in order to avoid spam, detect spam, measure growth, be an encouraging figure/member to those with similar cases incase the merit starts coming in.
Unless there is an ulterior motive behind deleting the numerous post, or you just feel like you want to start afresh, then, there it is.
Mind you, deleting your posts might even show or present you as untrustworthy, and might even earn you a negative trust, possibly.

Not that I frown at people deciding to delete their posts for the sole purpose of de-ranking themselves and on the other hand it doesn't in anyway fault forum rule in doing that.

But am just raising a concern I conceive in mind after reading your comment, like in a situation where an OP gets to delete a particular post of his which contains quality information, solves certain regularly asked questions that might be of a burden to a newbie or any member rank at all. So to me I think if many people continue doing that we might lose some answers we could have easily sight or pointed to in the forum when we meet similar questions that such reply/answers could have resolved or been of help to but then it already deleted by the OP.

I don't know if you understand the perspective am talking from.

I understand your view, but, since these people have control over their contents they can do to it whatever they wish. Although, their answers can't be the only one in a thread, tens to hundreds of responses are seen in a thread. What could be of importance is deleted threads, which goes away with other people's responses under the thread. Thereby, reducing the post count of the owner and that of the members who responded to the thread. I've seen some users who complained about miscalculated post counts not knowing that a thread they responded to in the past must have been deleted, either by the Op or the moderator.

As mentioned, the Activity will decrease and, subsequently, you may be de-ranked depending on how many posts you delete. The good news is that the Merits will stay, so in the hypothetical event depicted in the OP, it would only be a matter of posting (and time) to recover the Rank. Bear in mind that Recoverable Activity would not be available as an accelerator to recovering Rank if you delete all your posts.

In broader terms, some people have managed to de-rank their account from Legendary to Sr. Member and even back to Newbie, as well as others have taken their Hero member account back down to Sr. Member through to Newbie.

Not that I frown at people deciding to delete their posts for the sole purpose of de-ranking themselves and on the other hand it doesn't in anyway fault forum rule in doing that.

I checked your profile OP and I noticed you already have red flags attached to it which is not a good signal. So I would advise you not to bother deleting anything because it would not remove the red flag as your profile is already archived with the reasons for the red flag tag. So It is nice you leave it that way because deleting your post would not hide anything from the forum since your account got tagged already. You will only end up reducing your activities and ranks while deleting your posts but your tag still remains there. So no need wasting your time.
If I may ask, why do you want to delete your post when you know what it takes to make a post to get rewarded with merits and growing through ranks. Do you not think deleting your post would affect your rank?

Depend with your activities enough or not, but how many your pots deleted and you seems worry about your rank? next time make constructive posts then not chance for post deleted. Usually post deleted because have any user report with your low quality post and easy for moderator checking about your post is good or not.

Upgrade and make your post better and check about deleted post and learned there for better to next time, right now you have 126 activities with 200 post above and seems still secure with your account level as Jr member.

Interesting replies, thank all for your input. It seems fairly straight forward now as to what will happen if I choose to delete posts. Tongue

Apart from the fact all of your posts are archived by third party sites, the negative trust feedbacks and flag(s) that you have amassed will always remain.

The same goes for your alts.

One thing you may notice is that when a post is deleted from our total posts, we see one less post from the total posts. If a post is deleted when your post count and activator count are equal, a post will be deleted from the activity account as well.  As such it can be said that if all the posts are deleted from the account then no rank will show in the account but the merits in the account will remain permanently. Because post can be deleted from activity account but not from merit account.

If all my topics that I've started are deleted. Do I still retain my rank ? Junior , Member , Senior etc...  ? ?
If I decide to wipe my profile clean completely, will the rank stay ? Roll Eyes
That is the best way to derank yourself. It is totally not a bad idea to derank yourself if you feel that you messed up your journey in this forum. This should be seriously applicable to some bounty hunters who didn't discover this aspect of the forum and started from the bounty section. When they discover that their history is made up of only links and no earned merits. They can decide to wipe their post history and start afresh.

That some way to state the fact. I'm sure OP understands but, if I may;
Is it only posts that counts towards your being active and counts in the activity meter?
I thought sending pm did matter too and counts towards have been active.

You ask in a different context. The activity op is asking about is the "activity count" reflected on the profile page which affects rankings. The activity you mean means nothing if you expect to rank up, even you are considered active when you log in for the first time without doing anything.

Am sure you understand that, these ranks are automated and works based on the principle of having a defined amount in merits and activity such that, they arr complementary to get ranked up.
Since posts constitute to that activity meter count, having them all wiped out will as well wipe out your activity and with nothing to complement the merit with, you can as well be demoted to a rank that suits your qualification by the forum.

Your activity will never be greater than your number of posts. If you delete all your posts = 0 activity = "Newbie" rank.

If I base your question on your current rank, there is no doubt that you will return to the newbie rank again. Then it's not too bad to do because it's in Jr. You're a member after all.

But if in Sr. At the member level, it's a bit difficult to do what you're saying because most people here know how difficult it is to reach a rank like this. Maybe you can do that by erasing all your posts, maybe you really want a quality post history here in the forum, right?

If you delete all posts from your profile you will not have rank but you will not delete the merits due to your ID. Suppose you have 10 posts in your profile now, if you delete 8 posts out of 10 posts, your ID will have only two posts and two posts will have two activities. So if you delete all your posts, your rank and activity will be deleted but your merit will remain.

What does one get as a result at the end of it all in doing this? It make no sense at all deleting the entire posts made, this could means an indication for a bought account fro another user or maybe the account history has some phishy stuffs and the bearer no more interested on seing them, because no one would have try to make this kind of decision in his rightful mind to delete everything on his account post history when he had done a great job in the past in contributing to the forum.

I think the OP solved his problem by removing posts and downgrading. Yesterday, he made a stupid mistake and got negative tags from two DT members.
Now I think he should not worry about the rank, since the negative connotation of the reputation will remain and the account will simply become useless.
The topic can be closed. Smiley

If you delete your entire post, of course the activity and rank will decrease and the merit will remain. I think the OP wants to delete his entire post because he has participated in the campaign most of the posts there. But OP you don't need to delete your posts because no one will care about your campaign posts if you do it right. 'OP' you may not know that even if you delete your posts, your posts will remain https://ninjastic.space/user/swiftxi?merits. But I want to tell you what made you think of deleting all your posts? I saw that many posts have already been deleted, your total number of posts was 254, but right now your post is 201?

OP, I don't know why you'd want to do such to your account by deleting all you have worked for (your post), if you delete all your post then what's the essence of coming here? Lemme tell you, your info is more valid than you think in this Forum.
The Forum needs you more than you think because for you to start up something here that means you have a bigger row to play to make this forum greater. Well, maybe you just felt like getting this topic to clear your curiosity.

If you delete all posts from your account, your activity and rank will definitely go down. Your credit will be in your account. But I think this is a very imaginative post even though it seems very simple to everyone. Maybe we all can answer simply but we are going through a lot of thinking whenever we go to express it. If you have decided to delete the post from your decision then I would say don't delete the post. From now on keep up the good quality posts. Do not delete all at once but gradually delete later.

Your rank will be decided by your activity point and your earned merit.

Merit and new rank requirements.
When you delete your posts, your activity points will decrease but your earned merit won't be erased. Later, when you make posts and collect activity points again, you will rank up again.
Of course, members need to make several posts within the two week periods and reach the certain activity to rank up, but in most of the cases the users have sufficient activity and have no the required amount of merits. Besides that, activity can be decreased if user posts are deleted.

If you delete the post completely then your rank will definitely change to new. Actions I think are very necessary, now you have to wait for the time in the past for the action in the future.

But, (merit) will be in the right place.  But I think it's better not to delete the posts completely.
No matter how many times you delete posts from your profile, they will remain.

If you want to delete your posts then yes you can but remember you can't delete a thread which is even created by you so you can only lock and unlock the thread and only mods can delete the thread.

Anyway I wonder why you should care about your rank when you want to wipe your forum profile?

the ranking criteria is simple you need certain activity as well as merit to reach certain rank so if you fail to meet one even not let you there and FYI deleting a post will also create a loss of activity created but in most cases it won't affect the rank because generally number of posts will be higher than number of activity.
