Your activity will never be greater than your number of posts. If you delete all your posts = 0 activity = "Newbie" rank.
If you delete all posts on an activity period, you will lose that activity period (and thus lose 14 max activity points). Delete the right posts = lower max activity = potential downrank.

No. Activity and merit qualify you for every particular rank.
Even if you have obtained those ranks before you delete your posts, which will reduce your activity, the merit earned won't reduce, but your rank will eventually go down to newbies or whatever rank your current number of posts will qualify you for.
