This... looks amazing! I do have my doubts, considering the number of scams out there. Hopefully you will take escrow BTC payments or at least PayPal.  Wink

Currently, they accept ACH/wire and crypto. PayPal took themselves out of the picture - claiming chargebacks (PayPal does not like crypto). Squirrels is working on other payment options. I don't think forum escrow will be one, though.
So no paypal
No escrow

No cc?

prices are tempting  to say fuck it  I will get one it is not much to lose if he is like dwarfminer.

I don't want to attack gpuhoarder
but this is very easily a scam .

I am  not saying it is a scam and I want the gear as much as anyone else.
But where is the protection  for the buyer?
the answer is there is no protection here.
Early in the thread I offered to escrow first batch.  Free of charge!

I will take some.
I will offer assistance to op at no charge.
If op needs a pre order run I will do it at no fees for me.
I no longer do escrow but for this project I offer free escrow other then the tx fee.
At op do we need intel CPUs ?
Are higher end CPUs better?

and this is a less then satisfactory answer

Can you clarify what you’re offering?
Higher end CPUs can be interesting, but system memory matters more if you’re trying to use the accelerator with CPU***

as free escrow service is pretty much as  clear as possible.
And the render is pretty but still no real proof of concept.

I just realized that the biggest problem to incorporate Acorn into existing rigs is this:

"At launch, Acorn will work exclusivity with SQRL Miner. We'll provide an SDK and API documentation later this Fall for other miners to integrate Acorn support." I am not sure how this miner is going to to work with various pools or NiceHash, for instance.

Also, the longer I look at options the more confused I am getting about how Acorn (any model) is going to improve my ethash mining for GTX1080Ti with ETHlargement pill (53.5 MHs).
Could I please, get advice on this? Simply put, I am mostly interested in Ether mining with high end GPUs

Just looked at the Blackbox and that looks pretty slick.  Is that the ultimate config to get the empty chassis and then just keep adding Acorn and FPGA boards and expand in that chassis?  Not sure how doable that is and would love some feedback on that idea.

Good starting point but I am hoping to see how Acorn (different models) is going to impact the performance of GTX1080Ti with ETHlargement pill (53.5 MHs). Also, PayPal or Crypto payment options is the must, for me (I have enough of international bank transfers - I live in Canada).

This looks like a great project.  However a little daunting to sort out what will be needed to support the best configuration.  All my gpu rigs are older configurations so this would require a complete retool to optimize for this.  I looked that the web site and the FAQ with the good, better, best configs, and the recommended hardware has yet to be spelled out.

So does it mean you buy 1080ti's for this rig, or what is going to give you the best bang for your buck?  Then the mobo support and getting the best acorn to gpu mix for optimum performance.  Looking forward to the updates.  Just scratching my head trying to figure out the specifics we should have in place for the acorn to give us the biggest cost benefit ratios.

gpuhoarder, thanks for all the hard work you are putting into this.

what is this "brake pedal" you speak of?
July 11, 2018, 05:28:10 AM

good info (to start with anyway).

at least i can start basic planning. looks like iwill have to bring my old z97 miner board out of retirement and move a couple cards from the onda b250 d8p (with its pcie x1 slots) over to take advantage of the z97s pcie x4/x8 slots. the bcu1525 will also go into the z97 board, so the z97 would have come out anyway.

For those of you who are familiar with the Octominer board, would the "Acorn CLE 101" work on this board? (Along side RX580's/Vega 56 on cryptonight v1).

The main goal is to reduce power consumption.

I think the board uses an older M.2 slot but its hard to find info on the specifics.

This might be an obvious answer for some, but I am not the most technical person. Thanks Smiley

It will be interesting how this will make me split up my puny 9x1060 rig. 3 rigs with 3 cards (directly on MB) + acorn each I guess, since risers does not give enough bandwidth.
"the SQRL Dual M.2 + USB-Based PCIe Riser Host Board (Coming Soon)" sounds interesting?

The classic 12GPU rig build appears to be different with the Acorn in the mix.

Updated Acorn info:

http://www.squirrelsresearch.com

Mine on!

One other item that is hopefully listed in the Acorn store are the PCie adapters mentioned in the first post:

"I am also pursuing making available well priced options for individual PCIe x4 to M.2 M-key host boards (these are broadly available for $10-15), as well as Quad-M.2 PCIe switched and Bifurcated x16 host boards for those who do not have the available M.2 M-Key slots or require up to 240MH of acceleration."

This way, the user gets a tested, Acorn compatible, hardware solution .

See the FAQ. Yes.

Reminder, since I’ve said it a lot but people seem to not catch it, ETH is not what these are targeted at.

More details over the coming days. Thanks for being patient everyone.

The 215+ can do standalone mining? Maybe use your 16x and 8x slots to run multiple Acorns doing their own thing (on one of those multi-M.2-to-PCIe cards), and leave GPUs on your 1x slots - perhaps not being accelerated at all because they're using legacy algos? Man I'm going to need a spreadsheet to figure out all the setup combos Smiley

In Vosk's last video he mentions mineority disappointing him by selling FPGAs instead of working on ProgPOW. Then he's complaining about reduced Nvidia profit due to the Z9 mini and bitmain being evil, and how 'people' only care about profit, yet he's bought two Z9's and another ASIC on the way? If he's not going to set a decent example, he's just a hypocrite. I don't hate the guy, I just think he could do a lot better if his reviews were more focused on the technology and less about how much money he can make. Let him and his subscribers buy their ASICs and leave the FPGAs for people that can tell the difference between a scam and a deal at this early stage. If you have a review sample please send it to Seth or someone else that actually made some FPGA videos recently.

Vosk supports zen cash. Right now, if you want to support zencash and untill they fork you must buy a Z9
Actually I think he supports USD only every review is slammed with amazon affiliate shit so I don't bother with any of it
