First Peoples ASIC, now a potential additional datacenter, why are you not on salary?

I wish the salary would be some dividends! I have a lot of connections and I try to help out whoever I can if I see a good fit.

Well, it's interesting to know that the board is not a first gen HF or a EVO, since that it reaches 500GH (first gen HF shouldn't, at least from the reports i remember).
And it's also interesting to know that you are going to put out 3PH this month... It's impressive.

Actually I didn't remember that, if it would not require to much effort+time+money then perhaps expanding to multiple datacenters would be the way to go though I'd have to run the math on that to confirm (and that's nigh impossible due to most variables being unknown). I suppose the best I can do is just watch what happens until more info is available (rent + power costs on datacenter(s), cost of boards, rate of production of complete miners, profit margins, etc.).

There are some things i would be curious to know...

1) Bargraphics, the pics you posted have a Coolit cooler. How did you get that?
2) The board is different from an "evo" one, but yet it seems to reach 750GH with ease.

So the board shipped is really similar to a first gen HF, just with double the hashrate and a Coolit cooler that i don't understand the source off.

Ah, thought I answered this. Must have forgot to click post yesterday Sad

The CoolIt Cooler came already attached to my board (The first board I ordered) - I assume this was a gift from Ken for probably being the first order which I appreciated because I was able to get that board up right away without any issues.

The boards do not reach 750GH with ease. CGMiner was bugging out badly. After getting them running stable and OC to 720 Clock Speed that particular one runs at about 520GH on CGMiner which mostly corresponds with what Eligius is saying.

Ken forgot one of the purple thermal pads for the metal heatsinks and I had to use some not so great ones I had laying around. The board I put the H80i on is only getting about 505GH and I think it is because of this.

Ken, please do not forget the extra purple thermal pad when you ship more miners! Luckily I had some leftover thermal pad (not nearly thick enough though) from when I setup the chilis 5 months ago so I used that but I'm pretty sure that is what is throttling that particular mining a tad as the contact just simply isn't the best.

I don't think all 5,000 boards will be populated with chips this month. I think a more realistic estimate would be 2-3 months

2. Mine with it.

As long as being a Hash Fast reseller isn't our endgame, I think ActM should maximize sales so as to build up capital for mass production of ActM's own chips which should carry a greater profit margin than acting as a reseller.

Setup

Each box should contain the following:
(1) Board
(2) Finned Heatsinks
(2) Thick purple thermal pads

Thermal Pads/Finned Heatsinks go on this portion of the board


Unscrew the screws under the heatsinks


Peel off the film on the Thick purple thermal pad (Front and Back), stick one under each heatsink - *Be sure to poke holes where the screws should go*


Screw in the heatsinks to the board



Wipe all of the thermal compound off the chips (if there is any)

Wipe all of the thermal compound off the heatsink (if there is any)

Smear (Don't Dab) the Antec Nano Diamond Thermal Compound on the chips. I've been told less is more but to full cover them.

Since the H80i's mounting kit simply doesn't work with these boards you will have to do some weird stuff unless you want to buy correct standoffs (I Found that buying just the nuts was easier)

I Labeled the following image to make it easy (This is the mounting kit that comes with the H80i)

A goes under the board just as it is
D (The Standoffs) screw into A on top of the board (Longer Side)
B goes on top of the cooler first (To create spacing to get a tight fit
C goes on top of B on the cooler
Use the #8-32 Hex Nuts to attach the cooler to D (The Standoffs)


Once you are done it should look something like this:



Screw the Fan that came with the H80i onto the Radiator with the screws (E) located in the mounting kit

Now to prepare your PSU

You only need the following cables:

2 x 6 Pin PCI-E - (Plugs into the Board)
1 x 24-pin ATX cable (Paperclip trick to turn it on - http://www.seasonic.ru/media/uploads/jump-start-3.jpg)
1x Sata Power Cable (to power the pump)

Once you have the PSU setup, plug your PCI-E's into the board (Make sure your PSU is off guys!)


Plug your the cord from the Cooler into the Sata Power Cable and into the board (Sata is under the board in C) (into the board in B)
Plug your Fan on the radiator to the board on any of the open places (I put mine in A)


Now plug one of your Port USB A Female Slot Plate Adapter (5-Pin) into the board


Plug your USB 2.0 A Male to A Male Cable into the USB A Female and into your computer (host)


Download the Latest CGMiner - http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/

Install WinUSB if needed - http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/zadig/

Start it up and it should run!


I highly recommend you have a large fan blowing on the board to keep it cool else it WILL throttle if you try to OC it. I use one similar to this THIS
You also should have it somewhat in the air so that the bottom side of the board can be cooled as well
I also recommend using Linux with CGMiner as it has been crashing with Windows somewhat

To OC simply make a .bat file inside your CGMiner with the following conditions (Thank you MrTeal)

While all the progress is great, I really feel like we need to be at 1Ph of equipment mining by the end of May and 2Ph by end of July to be in with a shout of still being a decent player in the mining game by year end. Difficulty is going to go through the roof the next 3 months.

4. Keep adding hashrate to keep up with difficulty, add some miners to the store.

5. Miners will sell as people see the machines actually work.

7. Do not forget to keep research and development up.

Selling the shovels is the key as we have always known.

The common belief is that hardware stores made more from the gold-rush than did the miners. Maybe, but gold mining is still happening in all areas of the world today and the supply stores have all gone. What has replaced the panners and miners of old is industrial-scale gold mining. While the equipment may have just got bigger (diggers, excavators, lorries, grinding machines instead of pans and picks) I would think most of the profit is now made by the mining companies and not the firms who supply the mining equipment?

I will have to say that Ken avoid this. Let the legal system do it's job. Who knows what these Karpeles coins will be worth, I mean they are now named after the one of the most hated people in BTC right now.

Ken, despite staying positive since the first day you came on these forums, I started losing faith in the last month or two thanks to the communication issues and other hiccups. But things are looking up.

Lets hope we can start developing our own chip again. Selling the shovels is the key as we have always known.
