Why would anyone keep a preorder for vmc brand asic instead of a hashfast?

Hashfast boards are now going for ~$3/gh

Vmc platinum miner is more than $10/gh

Because , I ordered from HashFast and Ken at the same time (November) , i am batch 3&4 on HashFast , And i will not be receiving anything before May . And from Ken , i will be mining this week , with 250% of power i ordered .

So , im glad i din't cancel or refunded my order .

I understand it would be a much better deal to go with the hashfast boards shipping now.

I am just wondering if there is any incentive to stick with the vmc asic instead.

As of now it seems like they are equal in power/efficiency only the vmc machine is 4 times more expensive and shipping in a few months.

Those are old miners I don't think they will ever be real products. What we have now is the Prospector and on the horizon is the Gold Rush miner which i believe is an optimized version of the Prospector. Those who held pre-orders for the old products will be receiving new products.

Ya , But the VMC ASIC will be a very good thing for the shareholders , and that's the only reason Ken is still working hard on getting his custom ASIC done ASAP....

Where do you see the price headed? I'm very excited as well. I hope to see it blast past the ATH from BitFunder which was 0.0075 per share.

Early days yet but never forget shares = divs. We could still be a big player (and a big player is just 1% and above in this multi-Billion dollar market) in 5 years time and 5 years of regular divs from company profits will be worth a lot more than you will be able to sell your shares for in year 1.

But I agree the ATH was just speculation, if this solid news continues the ATH will likely be a new floor and we will trade above it. 0.007 on the 10Mill public shares only values the company at 30Mill USD. If we get a good reputation for selling in-stock equipment we can sell that value of gear in just a few months based on our previous sales figures.

btw if you are REALLY excited check out the Hangout thread and post up a few vids or whatever.

Or you could just buy Bitcoins and not mine and make that same amount of money when the price of the coins increase.

No, if you mine the idea is you get xBTC more back than you payed out. So you might pay 20BTC for equipment which will mine you 25BTC within 8-12months.

If BTC stays flat you make 25% on your money, if it goes up you make x multiplied by the new higher value so the more BTC goes up the higher your profit margin over just holding.

So:

If 20BTC = 10k if you hold and BTC stays level after a year you still have have $10k
If you mine and BTC stays the same then in a year you have + 25% which is $12.5k so 2.5k 'profit'

If you hold and BTC goes up 200% (to 1.5k) then you will have 20x1500 = $30k so $20k 'profit'
If you mine and BTC goes up 200% (to 1.5k) then you will have 25x1500  = $37500 so $27.5k 'profit'

A year of mining with fair difficulty jumps would only ever net you about 4.8-5.0 BTC, of which 1.5BTC (at current prices) is needed to cover power costs

You could be right, I'm not a miner and the calculator (bitcoinx) might not include enough difficulty increase. I suppose economies of scale come into it. If you invested 50BTC today and ended up with 65BTC after expenses in 12months you have made 15BTC. IF BTC is only $400 in 12 months you might be break-even in dollar terms. If BTC is 3k in 12months.....you have made a cool $45k.

And so it goes on, if BTC is $10k in 5 years you will have made $150k profit from the 10 cards that you had in the corner of your back-room in 2014-2015.

still waiting to see ken demo more than 1.4TH of equipment though - wasn't 100TH supposed to deploy right about now?

Yes pending the downstepping of the power in the datacenter from 480V to 240V

Electricians are working on it now.  Hope to be up and running on Friday.

With the discount code for one card and using bitcoinx profitability calculator I work out that break-even would be around 2 months and after 5 months you would have doubled your money (BTC).

4BTC today for 8BTC in 5months? Sounds like a decent buy for an in stock miner.

Any info on shipping to the UK Ken? You doing international shipping on these cards?

where are you doing your calculations?  http://btcinvest.net/en/bitcoin-mining-profit-calculator.php?diff=5006860589&dcosts=1650&diff_mincrease=15&blpbtc=25&dhsmhs=512000&diff_mincreasedecrease=0.7&btcusd=480&dpowcon=500&btcusd_mincrease=0&pcost=0.15&calcweeks=25&dleadtime=0&action=calc

considering BTC=$480, plus the cost of PSU, shipping, a H80i cooling system, and a computer or RPi to control it, you have a total cost of about $1700-1800 or ~3.4BTC

Not sure if I got that right, maybe double your money after 8 months. But that is with BTC staying at $450 for the next 8 months. The beautiful thing about getting into mining right now is that BTC is 95% likely to be on the way up from here. In 8 months we could be at $3k and so your 4BTC today ($1800) would be an 8BTC worth $24,000 instead of half that if you just hold the coins. $12k extra - it's a small gamble for a big reward.

$3 per gh/s is on par with the antminers but with better power usage. The first 50 should go relatively fast
