What advantages do altcoins have that differs it from bitcoin ?

There is a wide range of variations between altcoins. The transaction fees, transaction times, scalability, can vary. Also, some coins don’t use a blockchain which could have some benefits as well as some drawbacks. There are also altcoins that are designed for specific functions such as platforms for tokens, internet of things, mining, privacy, etc. I think these variations are important because they serve different purposes.

First in theory and almost 100% in practice all altcoins has an improved transaction speed in relation to Bitcoin, it has greater utility due to the liquidity rate lower than Bitcoin, in this case the price can be considered. In general the biggest advantage of altcoins is the ease of obtaining them for a small price, at this current time in the market.

What advantages do altcoins have that differs it from bitcoin ?
In my opinion, each altcoin has a distinct advantage, because it focuses more on developing a functional technology that may be the solution of a problem that lacks bitcoin. For example, altcoin transactions are usually faster and cheaper.

Depends on the coins, but generally the newer altcoins tend to have much more sophisticated algorithms. So you can expect fast and cheap transactions.
Plenty of them has some sort of utility, a goal which is built upon.
This goal for Bitcoin was to create the first cryptocurrency, with working transactions and ledger. - Blockchain 1.0
For Ethereum, it was the increased transaction speed with being turing complete - so you can build almost anything onto the infrastructure it creates. - Blockchain 2.0
Newer alts, like EOS, or Wanchain, aims to be Blockchain 3.0 . What it takes to be that is something I dont know, probably undefined yet. But interchain solutions of WAN makes it more interesting.

Each of them is trying to replace BTC in some way, so they are constantly improving in all different issues that BTC really has (such as transaction speed, throughput, and drawbacks of PoW algorithm as well). If you are really interested in technical details, you may want to read about different generations of blockchain, as it seems to me like a right topic to start from.

In a investors perspective altcoin is par better than bitcoin when it comes to possible potential for its the reason why many people tried to invest on different altcoins. A chance to increase your profit is also the reason why many people lose their earning since they dont consider the risk of altcoins.

What advantages do altcoins have that differs it from bitcoin ?
It depends a lot on the specific Altcoin as many of them exist only as the leftovers of pump-and-dump schemes intended to make their creators rich. Amway, we all know Bitcoin has a transaction time of over ten minutes on average. And this can take several hours in cases thanks to its very low block size. Altcoins like Dash and Ripple have successfully overcome this problem and has a clear advantage over Bitcoin at this point. Also mining of Bitcoin is much expensive and difficult requires data center for it while Altcoin like ripple can be mined using a mobile phone.
