No dream is too big and no dreamer is too small
I don’t use any social media at all. People say this forum is a spamfest but they probably haven’t seen twitter. Twitter is almost 90% bot fest. I read posts in twitter because people share twitter links a lot. I don’t post anything on twitter and I don’t read anything there in my free time. I deleted my facebook long time ago and never used Instagram. The forum used to be a better place of course but it is still far better than any social media crap out there.
I think it’s okay to use social media provided that you also have your own limitations set on it. For me, I’ve seen it more as a source of entertainment but never for educational purposes as I know majority of these being shared do not have reliable sources at all. And if ever there are, there’s only rare of them.

Unlike bitcointalk, everything comes from its original author itself except for those who are fond of plagiarism. And what’s good thing also is that bitcointalk shares real life true stories and experiences, that would bring lessons for other members, compared to social media where everything is made to become hyped so that views and subscriptions will be maximize.

You missed one important  point. Bitcointalk offers us the resources to be able to make money. Social media just consumes time which could have been used to earn money.

By the way, if you plan on sticking around and making posts with any kind of honesty, be prepared for criticism if not outright hostility at times.  In other words, I hope you have a thick skin on you because some members can be quite prickly.  Best of luck to you, m'man.
Thank you so much for your advice. To be honest, this is what I need right now and it came just at the right time. From my last two recent posts, I have already started facing such hostility from some members and this can be discouraging for someone who is working hard to make honest posts. I can't really say I have a thick skin, I am human and every negative comment I get here tends to affect my personal life. Notwithstanding, I plan on sticking around for a very long time, I'll try to work on my emotions.

BTW, OP, just thought about one Bitcointalk advantage against social media websites. This forum is clean from ads anfd it's really big thing. While most of social media websites is full of annoying ads, probably there is more commercials than actual content.
Thanks so much for your contribution. I wish to edit my post and add your reply to it if only you'll approve it. The fact that we do not have annoying ads and commercials popping up at intervals in this forum is another thing I find interesting about this forum which makes it even more unique than other social media platforms.

But, I'm just curious, how do the moderators of this forum get money to run and maintain the forum since there are no ads and commercials to generate income to the forum? Huh

Goodnight, ohh Leo!!! 🦅
Before I joined this forum, I believe almost everything that I see online like social media, YouTube contents and Google searches, but when I joined and become a member on this forum, I saw a lot of mistakes online.
To be really honest,I realized how vulnerable I was to any crypto space scams after spending a good time in here...I can't help but applaud the admin for managing a place like this up until today.

Sometimes, things don't really get as interesting as it should be from the start; especially when I tried to surf through and, I wasn't able to contribute to a single discussion at all. Braced up after a few deleted post and began constructive criticism - that's exactly how I got to learn!
..and oh, the social media? It's not even compatible!

I have just seen someone like me, I don't use twitter and I also do not use Instagram and I don't have a tiktok account. I only have a facebook account which I don't visit frequently. I am very ok with the forum. Although, sometimes here feel boring but I have a way to deal with it. That is reading older threads.

Congratulations to me! I'm now a junior member.
Congratulations to you!
It is not difficult to reach a jr member rank, but many people wouldn't know how special it is to you. I have been there and I know the feelings. Keep pushing!

What is clear is that there are more obvious differences between social media and this forum:
- This is more specific and is indeed specific to the cryptocurrency world. So yes, we can get various norms regarding cryptocurrency that are more specific, updated, and discussions between memes here are more connected.

Meanwhile, if I look at social media, most of them are just more focused on promotion. We can find various promotions related to new projects and there are indeed many social media accounts whose purpose is for this, including people who make money from promotions and free programs with prizes. But unfortunately, there are a lot of scams on social media, in my opinion there are far more, unfortunately also, there is no control or ability for people to declare if they are scams and give them a bad reputation. Yes, because social media is freer for anyone to be there.

Meanwhile in this forum, just look, if there is a projection of scams, then the members here immediately give a reputation for scam accusations and various things that make us much more aware of various types of scams. Not only that, there is a lot of information and also sharing stories or news related to crypto, good and bad, which makes us more aware of crypto itself and what we will do next. Then, what's different is that we can discuss more specifically here, with more controlled language and more significant discussion, which is very different from on social media.

Whatever points you have mentioned might be correct, but I would say that there is a difference between a social media platform and a forum.

A forum is a place for people to exchange knowledge and information, whereas a social media platform is a place for people to communicate and socialize, so there are different use cases hence different rules and regulations.

Social media this days are also used as a platform to share knowledge. It has crossed beyond just socialising and communicating. But the most case use of it still remains in the sector of socialising and communicating. It is now at your own peril to believe in whatever you come across on social media either to accept it or not. When you get more familiar with those social platforms, you can easily see and know the authentic and fake news.

The forum has now come in a more authentic form. It easily filter out the fake news and misleading ones and only trail on those that are genuine. The main aim of this is not to deviate from its purpose of sharing the right and truthful information about bitcoin ecosystem. When there is changes in them, they become very fake not to be shared in the forum. As this forum is a place of knowledge like school, fake news shouldn’t be tolerated and this is one big advantage the forum has over social media.

In reality, a forum (whatever it may be) is a social network. The difference is in the form of interaction between users, and the associated purposes.

So the difference is not between an apple and a hamburger. Before, it's between an apple and a tomato, both are fruits, but they have quite different uses.  Wink
Maybe such comparison sounds better. Personally, I don't consider forums as social media website, I see it as message board, but in general yeah Wink

What I like more about Bitcointalk is that it opens your knowledge and the way you will understand things. Before I joined this forum, I believe almost everything that I see online like social media, YouTube contents and Google searches, but when I joined and become a member on this forum, I saw a lot of mistakes online. If you make mistake on this forum, you will be corrected to edit the OP or your post which is better.

I do not have much activities on social media, especially Meta like Facebook and Instagram. I only make use of Twitter which people on this forum will also be using. This forum is a place of knowledge.

The honest truth is that being a member of this bitcointalk forum is a one privilege of which it will Optimize your mindset to stay focus on what you're doing and most especially researching before agreeing to whatever being speculated.
The social media isn't a trusted place and being in this platform will make you understand that most informations from the medias are incorrect because the media aids understands that what the masses are more interested about is to hear what they expected and not the reality which its truth maybe bitter,
That's why bitcoin as a reputable Cryptocurrency and it users doesn't believe on hyping the technology development In other to gain massive adoptors nor to gain values.

I agree you know. X (Twitter) or whatever you want to call it is a total spam fest. I dunno about general stuff but Bitcoin related tweets are full of bots. Elon said he would deal with the bots, he hasn’t done a great job of it so far.

I really should delete my Facebook too really, Cuckerberg’s spyware and lots of people I don’t have much to do with any more. Maybe 20% of the ‘friends’ I have on there I even see any more.

Hope you’re good any way, long time no speak.

The advantage of Bitcointalk over social media is subjective to individual choices, as members of this forum will see her merits over Social Media so also some persons that use Social media platforms creatively will also give there own opinions, the difference is in what is shared, Opinions, Knowledge and values. Personally Bitcointalk have helped me with a diverse knowledge on Bitcoin and related Topics under it aside this I also learnt some other things aside the forum which both have shaped me greatly. In essence this comparison is not worth it.

Nice one OP for your creative writing.

So anyway, I applied as a merit source :)
Who needs social media when you have bitcointalk? Grin

The drama that was present in this forum a few years back when flag system was not there and DT was full power, its not worth digging those up. But truly speaking, the control over scams was iron-fisted at that time. It is way more than what you see on social media.

Most of us here are aware about privacy and prefer not to use social media, so this "idea" is a bit of a circle jerk.

The average population on this world, will use social media more than a forum. Its like asking the questions "bitcoin is better than traditional assets" and then getting 99% yes response on this forum.

That's not true as before bitcointalk there were Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, YouTube etc.
Timeline of social media has more information to prove that pakhitheboss was wrong.

What's happening to bitcointalk happened to basically all the other forums-younger generations are drawned more to faster means of communication which then made forums less popular and that's the trend that has been going on for atleast a decade.
It is like you said, and honestly I can understand why people addicted to Facebook, Youtube because they have many long stories and videos to read / watch, that can make them more addictive and maybe they learn something from such resources.

With TikTok, very short videos and many non sense short videos there, but the younger generations tend to love TikTok. They wasted many times for time, on the screen, for fun, but nearly won't learn anything helpful. It is best way to kill their precious time and destroy their career / future.

Bitcointalk lost that charm when these social media platforms came into existence, where everyone discussed Bitcoin and cryptocurrency. To an extent, Bitcointalk has now become a forum where discussions are set to current affairs or promotions.

Bitcointalk started before social media came into existence. At that time when I was not part of the community this forum was the only place to discuss about anything related to Bitcoin.

As social media gained importance, at that time social media meant Twitter, Facebook, and Reddit. They all gained a lot of users who were nothing but the users of this forum. These platforms created a replica of the forum which was far much easier to use and did not need BB code understanding.

Bitcointalk lost that charm when these social media platforms came into existence, where everyone discussed Bitcoin and cryptocurrency. To an extent, Bitcointalk has now become a forum where discussions are set to current affairs or promotions.

There was a time when anyone could find good tutorials related to Bitcoin and cryptocurrency here. As of now, you would not find them or updated as most of the publishers have either retired, died, or have moved to Reddit.

OP! rethink about this forum and come up with a new topic.

There are many advantage that we can say about this simple online forum, but my focus is only on the purpose of creating this forum. Each user has their own goal in registering an account on this forum, so they will focus more on what they are interested in while developing their abilities in other things. In general, this is a discussion forum, but user motives are different and we will definitely respect each difference wisely. I like how this forum is moderated in such a way, it creates the impression that each user cannot be arbitrary during their stay.

This is a great forum for getting information about bitcoin and cryptocurrency. I am glad to have been introduced in this forum and I do wish that one day I can become established, knowledgeable and reputable here to contribute immensely here.
Thank you all for reading.
Remember that not everything you read is true, sometimes some users also spread wrong information about something. You have to make your own analysis and ensure that the information you read is correct, so it is highly recommended not to swallow all the information you read at face value. My advice to you, don't put reputation first as why you register an account here. You will be a user in good standing as long as you can make useful contributions to the forum.

The Best Tipster on the Forum!!
Ever since i found about bitcointalk back in 2014 my life honestly changed. I was lost back then and was searching for all kind of stuff. But once i registered on this forum and atart exploring for months things opened up for me in all kinds of ways. Getting my tipster thread up getting sponsorships and all kinds of stuff. I think that this forum helped me back then a lot and i think that there isnt any similar forum that is on this level and that can help you like this one. This forum can help a lot more then social media can and you can tap into some resources that just arent available on social media and people after all of this years still dont know this.

An obvious difference between the bitcointalk forum and other social media platforms is their purpose for the creation. As the name implies it is created mainly for the promotion and discussion of  bitcoin and, cryptocurrency wholly. Unlike social media platforms where everything goes.
You can have nearly all things in discussions in Bitcointalk forum. Discussions are not only about Bitcoin even the forum name implies it's Bitcoin talk.

Big difference is the forum discussions are in text and in other social media, people use less texts for discussions but I don't say, writing wall of texts in Bitcoin talk will give better discussions.

I decided to make this article to outline ways in which bitcointalk is better than social media in sourcing for information about bitcoin and cryptocurrency.
You are a forum member and can say it is the best but it won't lead to any consensus. People can use this forum or don't use it and are more favorite on social media.

In bitcointalk, you will read from the original resources
Original contents can be made anywhere, not only in this forum.

3. CHECK AGAINST SPAM:
In bitcointalk, there are moderators who check for spam posts, such posts are often  deleted. This responsibility is not left for the moderators alone as other community members also show interest in reporting spam to the moderators.  This keeps the community clean and sane as much as possible.
Spam posts are more than you think and moderators can not handle all spam posts. They need support from community members to report spam posts but members can not report all spam posts as they have limited time for reading and reporting.

Reading your later points of discussions, you only want to bold the importance of bitcoin talk and try to say it is the best, this is not true. I like this forum but to say it's the best, it is not.

Like you say, advantages of Bitcointalk over social media. What is disadvantage?

There’s very little or zero Woke bull shit on this forum. The rules aren’t too strict, I really don’t like authority. This forum is the most informative source I have ever come across for Bitcoin related information and advice. I’ve met some of the most interesting and nice, friendly people in my lifetime by striking up RL friendships with people from this forum. I have learnt more, extracting more knowledge from fiscal, self sovereign intellectuals here than I did during my years at school.

Social media mostly sucks, I use X for sports news and fast, real time (almost) Bitcoin news. I have Facebook and Instagram but don’t use them much these days. I tapped a lot of ass meeting girls from various online platforms years ago but Bitcointalk.org wins every time over modern day social media.
As a new comer in the forum, I didn't find here friendly in terms of UI/UX but I continued for some time and understood the level of information that is being shared here. I can attest that I've never seen the level of information shared here anywhere and that is why I have decided to stick around and continue researching in the forum. Most social media platforms are probably for meetups and wider range of advertisement but when it comes to the quality of information, leave it for this forum.

CONCLUSION:
This is a great forum for getting information about bitcoin and cryptocurrency. I am glad to have been introduced in this forum and I do wish that one day I can become established, knowledgeable and reputable here to contribute immensely here.
Thank you all for reading.
You even seem very established since your first post on the forum - so I think it's just a matter of time and consistency for you to post a lot of quality things and get merit for rank up and then signing up for signature campaign. Some beginners often claim to be beginners – but there are also those who aren't really beginners, but sorry - I don't mean to say you are one of them.
Thanks
I didn't know that my post is as good as that, I appreciate. I am totally new in this forum and I am very much committed to reading about Bitcoin and knowing about this forum.
