if coin has ANN thread and all pools/services advertise there its way betteer than each of them makign new topic. this way 1 coi nwould be 10 topics. is that really better?

the other very real problem is that pools fall by the wayside everyday and I can pick at least 10 coins right now where the OP has links to pools that are not even in existence any longer and the devs are long gone, but yet the coin still has a very active mining community and there's no one around to update the OP - so I want to know HOW us pool owners are going to let the miners know we have a new (and sometimes) THE ONLY POOL AVAILABLE TO MINE A COIN IF WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO POST A MESSAGE MENTIONING OUR POOL?

WANNA ESPLAIN THAT TO US?

Huh

Exactly. As I said, this rule is arbitrary and capricious. Granted, this is a privately held forum, but if it were subject to any sort of common law test, this rule would be found by any court, even the Kangaroo courts in the United States, as overbroad and deliberately operating in restraint of commerce. In short, under any theory of common law that I've ever heard of, this is ridiculous.

Advertising spam is not allowed, this includes mining pools, gambling services, exchanges, shops, etc. Mining pool ops should make a thread within the Mining section of Alt Currencies. Most OP's already link to pools available so advertising your pool is unnecessary and leads to too much spam. Exchanges, shops, gambling sites, etc, should make a thread in the Marketplace section of Alt Currencies.

I own and operate Lifeforce.info pools and I did what you asked and guess what? - you guys deleted the thread....

what's up with that?

and I do agree with your decision to stop the spam - many pool operators have consistently hammered thread looking for free advertising - that's why I pay money to have my banner ads run on various sites promoting my pool.

here's a great article: http://altcoinherald.com/bitcointalk-lowers-hammer-pool-advertising/

I think actually that twitter stuff works quite well.. You can also do support via twitter as people message you directly, you get coin recommendations over twitter etc..

be sure to have a look at my sig, i'll always keep you updated with all the latest suprnova stuff !

Since I consider Twitter to be very much akin to the mental equivalent of ebola Zaire, that won't help me any. But personal preference aside, the rule is arbitrary and capricious.

I'm glad you found a workaround. I hope mods won't consider posts like this one (ex. catch up with me on twitter, link in my sig) advertising and just delete them.

Do you mine?

I think it's pretty obvius that he doesn't. But even for someone who does not trade/mine actively, it should be pretty obvius to see that there's an unreasonable part in this rule.

Just returning to tell the mods here to go fuck themselves.

You have made it easier for large miners to push smaller ones out by making it nearly impossible to show people when a pool is up.

Fucking idiots.

No one here likes it and it's obvious.
I like it, because I was getting really tired of all the pool "advertisement" in the Announcement threads. It was crazy, distracting and, well, spam.

Do you mine?

I usually don't comment on the rules, as most of them are unobtrusive. But it seems like this one is specifically for the purpose of restricting pools from being seen. You all claim to want decentralized networks, but then do whatever you can to centralize. This isn't the only instance I can think of, but this one is egregious.

It would be FAR BETTER to warn a pool op if they were overdoing it. Getting devs to update the OP is at best a random exercise, and, Bad Bear I'm looking at you, you people know that to be true.

This is a rule like so many "exectutive" decisions that was made without any thought to the consequences, or else was something deliberately done to retard commerce.

If the admin cared and actually wanted a solution rather than just bitch and moan until we all piss off (they can pretend they aren't telling us to do so, but clearly they are) they could get off their lazy buttocks and install any of the copious mods available for SMF, such as Good Post/Bad Post, auto anti spam, bot protect etc. They either chose not to give a shit to this method, or are too incompetent. Personally based on using an out date SMF, and not changing the branding etc, my money goes with incompetent.

Give users the power to do the moderation and we will see what people actually want. I pity to foolish admin who thinks any sized army can moderate a modern forum. This is not sparta (they may be the downy hunchback however..)
Even though this forum is using an older version of SMF, theymos has added a lot of aditonal coding in the backend to provide security. He has fixed numerous security vulnerabilities, added the Trust system, the activity counter and various small snipets of codes here and there.  Installing SMF mods only brings more possible exploits and overall decreases forum security. Updating to the new SMF version would mean that all of the old issues have to be recoded for the new version and tons of effort would have to be dedicated towards finding seurity issues only present in the new version.

BTW, if you didn't now, there is a new forum software in the works: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=167.0. Regarding moderation by users: there is a "Report to moderator" link on every post and thread and the fact that only a dozen or so users report actual spam threads and posts, has shown that not all people aren keen on moderating and/or know what is considered spam.

a few days were missing, last seen is that you can leave 1 message in the thread coins me someone can confirm this?Huh and then Lediirina again gave ban.
1 message (real advertising on the run coins )
2 when you restart problem coins it was reported in the forum thread pool that stopped (to create a new wallet dev)
3 at the request of the same developer has updated purse and said in the thread that we started and BAN

Now added a new coin on the pool and wrote to the dev, but he is in no hurry to add us to the OP what to do right Huh

Need clear rules on the first page of this discussion, and then everything will be a little better

now I do not understand what some are banned and others not

and how to add your pool on a coin in which the developer doesn't want to do HERE FORUM ON these INTERESTS? (separate pools and dev)

sorry for my English
