...

All things being equal, which they're not, aeon's hashrate is about 1/100 of monero's: typically 300 kh/s divided by two because of algo versus 15 MH/s , give or take. So, with a network security that is 1% of Monero, why expect a price/marketcap far off from that?

Both can price and hash rate can fluctuate both up and down. I don't see a good reason to assume either will remain the same.

I'm not saying they both won't change, or even that one is a leading indicator of the other, just that with the current state of affairs the price ratio seems reasonable. Just from casual observation the hashrate of both has been pretty consistent for at least the last few months, and though the price has jumped by 2-3x on both, there hasn't been order of magnitude changes in either for quite some time.

When does everyone think we'll hit 0.0002?

I'm thinking fairly soon.

Lol, wut?  That's 5x the current price.   Cheesy

Mark my words, 640kb of memory is enough for anybody and Aeon will never be worth more than 10 USD cents each.

What the hell are you talking about?

10 cents is 10 times the current price now... and that's only 0.0004. If you think that's high... well frankly I'm disappointed Aeon's most vocal investor has such low expections.

If Aeon was just 10% of Monero's marketcap which is pretty low anyway, then assuming Monero were to hit a new all time high... well that's 0.001 right there for Aeon.

And that's pretty darn low.

What do you think the price of Aeon will be on April 1st for the next four years?  2017, 2018, 2019, 2020?

Damn... that's a good point actually.

Better to just invest in Monero, and mine Aeon for weekly gains.

Just a friendly reminder that exchanges are meant for trading not for long term storage.

I am afraid some people are not cognizant of this and still use Bittrex as a wallet.

Admittedly, I'm one of them - a break in habit for me. My rig doesn't (yet) have the memory to support both an AEON wallet and all my other thingies.

(To be honest, I shouldn't make that many wisecracks about Windoze given how much I've abused its virtual memory.)

You don't actually need to run the daemon and sync to create a wallet, btw. Yea, it's nice to check and make sure your coins are received, but you can just create a wallet, get the address, and send the coins there from an exchange without actually ever running the daemon.

I think wanting to verify receipt (for cold wallets) is a common wish.

Maybe a bounty can be started to copy/recreate this Monero tool for Aeon: http://xmr.llcoins.net/checktx.html

I don't think anyone is seriously suggesting giving Aeon a gimmick or associating it with an animal mascot/name.

I maintain that Monero may one day be the money of the people, and Aeon could become the money of those who fashion themselves as something 'more'.  One possible scenario is that DNM's bite off hard on Monero and taint the name beyond repair, despite its technical success.  If that happens, Aeon can be waiting to pick up the banner and keep marching.

Another, very different, scenario is that Monero becomes a slower international private settlement ledger while Aeon continues to radically evolve and focuses on being more nimble and mobile.

You sure? Magical Pegasus Money has a nice ring to it.  Tongue

Do you think Dogecoin will always rule the crypto animal based coins? When did you give up on the cats (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.4748038) and dinosaurs (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.4748038)?

Is there some way Aeon/cryptonote could be combined with an animal?

Aeonsaur or Spidernote maybe?

DOGE is the BTC of animal based coins

AEON is the LTC of CryptoNote coins

What is the LTC of animal coins and can/should it be combined with Aeon for double the LTC power up (CryptoNote and Animal power)?

There was duckNote, but then went and changed its name two times, both to non-animal based things. Also, boolberry is kind of a space lobster coin.

Aeon is a great name. Lets keep it:)
