I have acquired the domain name:-

www.aeon.help

which we could perhaps use for the main website (or forum).

.help is a relatively new top-level domain - only about a year old. The vast majority of the many other single-worded aeon domains (that are credibly appropriate) have already been taken.

Given that ultimately a website (or forum) is indeed intended to help, it could be pretty useful and succinct for a community-based non-profit entity such as Aeon.

That is a good domain name. People in crypto area already used to .to .io and more. I think .help will work great for this purpose.

I think it is a great name for a help site, but wonder about its impact as a main address.

Who wants to start working on how to guides for Aeon? Surely www.aeon.help would be the perfect place for that!

Bringing it back to the subject of Aeon Speculation for a moment...

Looks like we're about to engage in a mini-buying frenzy.

With Poloniex adoption likely so close, how long is the price likely to stay so low?

What is your reason for saying Poloniex adoption is close?

Nothing other than an educated guess, largely concerning the only principal obstacle that is the database.

Perhaps smooth or another dev could offer some words in respect of the development schedule?

How's it going smooth?  Smiley

Interest in Aeon seems to be growing. My Twitter followers are increasing daily. Hopefully we can get some feedback on the new domain name and website crowdfunding ideas:

Ok, I hear you,  I created the name 'aeoncoin' last year without much thought but perhaps something more professional is needed.  Anyway, if we were going to switch, now would definitely be the time before our subscriber count grows any higher.

Hopefully the admins will come through on handing over /r/aeon but if they don't I have reserved /r/aeonblockchain which some might argue sounds more professional and elegant.  We could argue over whether it's worth the switch to that or another 2nd level subreddit if the top-choice doesn't pan out.

I had the brilliant idea of possibly snagging /r/Blockchain but it looks like someone has already taken it.  My point through is that if banks are all about 'the Blockchain' then that is definitely us: we are the best Blockchain out there, with a little investment from them.

Also, I'm gonna try to get ahold of /r/aeon proper so we can get away from the idea of being a 'coin'.

The name is definitely "aeon" and not "aeoncoin" so we don't need to get away from being a 'coin' but at the same time '/r/aeoncoin' may not be the best name for a subreddit even if /r/aeon can't be obtained.

Currently it's a private subreddit, but the mods aren't responding so we are gonna try to request Reddit admins turn it over to us.

If you haven't been by the subreddit lately, it is looking remarkable thanks to the new theme.

Thanks to the mod who threw that together into the CSS.

Can you add a high resolution version with the slogan to dropbox?

Yep - I'll get on to that this week.

Is someone actively developing an Aeon website right now?

Not that I know of.

Would a website be an appropriate use of donation funds? Or are those meant  to be focused on core development?

A web site would be appropriate, but the budget is limited. Even though the number of coins in there is decent, the market value is still not much, and the liquidity is very weak (i.e. dumping coins would trash the value even more).

If some community member wants to take on web and be included in the coin team for purpose of being eligible for a share of the donation coins later once they might be worth something, then I'm all for it, but not in favor of dumping to pay for stuff in the current market, or paying them out to someone who is likely to dump them. BTW, I consider the logo development work in that category as well, especially if the logo ends up being successful and long-lived.

Another option would be a crowd fund. In that case I'd suggest raising funds using a bigger coin like XMR or BTC to avoid the dumping issue. A web development budget is a much smaller deal even for XMR's market (obviously BTC too).

Crowdfunding with XMR sounds like a good idea. I would guess 90% + of the Aeon community also belong to the Monero community

What type of budget would be required for the development of a PROFESSIONAL looking website?
