Just now occurred to me.. when the crypto revolution happens and everyone is using digital currencies for everything, how in the world are we supposed to use XMR, AEON, BTC to snort blow, "make it rain" on strippers, etc.?  *Sigh* I guess we'll have to behave once the economy has matured to a more sophisticated way of doing business... And people said dealing in cryptos were fun... my ass  Wink

AEON can be used for any purpose you want but I see no reason to make these comments on this forum. There are potentially women reading this who could be offended. Luckily I do not offend easily.

I am pretty sure he was referring to male strippers.  Grin Does it make a difference?

I guess making it rain for a web cam girl isn't quite as visceral.  Sad

BUT as far as cocaine goes, there are companies working on brain stimulation methods that mimic popular drugs, so I'm sure they'll take payment in digital cash.  Grin

AEON

Monero's little sister and last of the super-heroes of the planet Cryptonite to escape the evil overlords of BCN.

Abandoned as a child, she was rescued by her older brother and taught how to use her super-powers of invisibility for the good of humankind.

Wearing the pendant of the Aeon (æ) she would become one of the true superheroes of the galaxy, fighting for freedom and justice against the dystopian empire of a single all-seeing Blockchain.

SHE WILL RISE

I like the creativity here. Aeon is fun

Look at Monero, it's above 200K at this moment, don't you think that AEON can easily go to 20K soon? I am sure. Current price level is a joke, everyone with even spare 50 USD can acquire AEON for dimes and these "lazy bets" can give a significant return in near future.

We are living in a very "interesting" world, governments fighting with cash breaking bad, ignoring this fact and ignoring legit true digital cash is just stupid. Exchanges already banning bitcoin transactions. I bet some of us already was in doubt if they should accept BTC payment from people they don't know very well in order to protect themselves from possible problems with "cashout gateways" like coinbase.

There were several "competitors" in past: some just pure blatant long term scam, some has broken cryptography. There are only two projects so far with literate community of users and developers, so respect your and other's privacy - hold Monero, hold AEON.

I mentioned AEON a few times in the Poloniex trollbox, and some people insisted on having a conversatrion about it, but that thing moves pretty fast.

I also see the price has risen to nearly 4000 satoshi.  I assume that's not a coincidence.  I just wanted to say (if any of you are reading this and I didn't make it clear enough there) that AEON is possibly one of the riskiest cryptocurrencies out there.  No one can guarantee it will ever become anything, and I would never seriously advise anyone to 'invest' in it.  Nevertheless, many are telling me 'thanks for the tip'.  Let me be clear:  there is no tip.  I am in AEON up to my neck, but that is just transparency.  You following my position should be based on your speculation that my buys were wise.

And let it be known I am an idiot who has lost all his money in the stock market twice now.  Once in 2012, and again in 2013.  So proceed with caution.  In my defense, since I have started trading/acquiring cryptocurrency exclusively since 2013 I have done remarkably better.  My total crypto returns are probably at about 100% so far.

I am in Aeon because I think the branding is cool as hell, and I really like the grassroots passion many are putting into the project.  It could very well be true that the world has need for two major Cryptonote blockchains (or maybe even three).  In that case, AEON may become more than a CN test bed.

Until then, if you insist on buying in and joining the mad tea party: there is a good chance (imho) we will get relisted on Poloniex once we get a formal release that minimizes the memory requirement, but no one can say for sure when that will happen.  You are welcome to come bag hold with us in the mean time, but I hope we can entice you not to sell Aeon even if it were to go to absurd heights from current levels: like 20,000 satoshi or even 100,000 sat.

If your goal is cold storage why would you want to run the daemon at all? You can just create an Aeon address by running simplewallet on an offline device (or live USB/live CD) and send to that address. Even a very old computer can run simplewallet.

Ok, let's pretend I'm an idiot.  And five.  I'm not, but let's pretend I am.

What would be the best guide I could follow to do such a thing?

Lol, ok, what he is saying is if you want to cold store, you can just run the simplewallet and generate an address. Send coins to that address and you'r done. Simplewallet does not need the internet to run, you also dont need to sync with the blockchain. Wallet generation can entirely be done offline

Transaction fees all go to the network. Are you referring to the 10XMR fee for importing existing wallets?

MyMonero adds a tiny extra transaction fee on outgoing transactions. I think it was 0.005 but I could be wrong.

Thanks for correcting me. I don't use online wallets and my memory must be incorrect.

Any guess for a timeline for a reduced database release of Aeon similar to Monero's latest release?  I would love to move some of my coins to a cold storage box, but I don't think I can run it currently.

Also, to all: Fluffyponyza said that MyMonero is open source, but I don't know how to copy it.  What would be a suitable bounty for someone to implement an Aeon version?  10,000 Aeon?  I know that's not much now - but this person would also make a lot in transaction fees over the next few years.

An online wallet might interest some people but the demand may not be great assuming smooth delivers on the CryptoNote GUI reasonably soon.

I don't know about it being fully open source. I think the back end at least is unreleased and would need to be reimplemented or replaced unless fluffypony releases it. But maybe it was opened up at some point when I wasn't paying attention.

What percentage of the Monero community do you think is also involved with Aeon?

Expressed that way I think its pretty small. Monero is much more widely known and popular. In the other direction (percentage of AEON supporters also involved with Monero) it is pretty high.

I'm just guessing though, not hard numbers to work with.
