bitcoin will split into two chains, one that will have segwit activated, the other one will now. So there you go, there will be a version with segwit live on August 1. You just have to make sure that your exchange, or your wallet supports segwit before the transition and your coins will be bitcoin with segwit. Make sure you are on the right side when this come because one coin will die. Also I suggest you to diversity your investment and buy litecoin, it already has segwit, so if bitcoin activates segwit succesfully you win, and if not litecoin already has segwit you will win there as well.

Let say if I choose the correct one, will bitcoin value will back increase like golden days like ever before ?
Actually I'm also worried and my friend also yelling on me and asking my opinion about SEGWIT things.
Ofcourse I need to calm them and myself for preventing any bad action

I'm afraid the picture that is glimpsed is not very good, There are too many things that are converging on that event, At this rate and considering the days that are missing the price can be collapsed until the $1000 or less maybe but that is a mere assumption, And perhaps the worst for many peoples while the price continues in free fall neither alt can be considered safe option, The risk of splits is too much even to ensure that the price will recover soon.

the only reason why price dropped so far is because of two things: uncertainty and being uneducated.
and because of these two there has been a lot of FUD to change the direction of bitcoin. the risk that you call "too much" is actually way too little at this point with the factual data that we have at our hands. but it was exaggerated through a lot of FUD and that is why price fell in the first place.

and just like the previous fork FUD, this one will also lead to a big rise when people realize it was all empty bullshit. unless the facts that we have today change in the future, which is not likely.

it won't continue until then.
because for the most part, these things never go until exactly their dates. they start at least 2 months before the date and end usually a month before or at least 2-3 weeks before that date.

also in a couple of days things will be clear. miners are slowly starting to signal for SegWit and by a couple of days the real support will be clear and when it is big and above 90% everyone will realize what a big mistake they have made and start FOMO buying bitcoin.

at that time you wish you bought at least something at $1960

I don't really care about trending news that happening in these days, I will be honest. I just care and worry about the price that steadily declining day by day. I am wondering why people get panic and put that cut losses.
You need know people selling their BTC at now are speculative and they not have knowledge about Bitcoin or Market, maybe hear from some friends or news say Bitcoin is good, is future ... and they buy in highest price as $29000-$2500.

I see a lot of threads talking about the BIG date regarding August 1st.

But there are no threads about whats going to happen after August 1st. There will be an August 2nd (My birthday) so lets talk about that...

Predictions/Price/ etc...

I want to hear some thoughts.

My plan is to buy up BTC in the coming weeks and HODL

Great plan there mate.

The price is very attractive for all of us. Your holding will be worth it for sure. After August 1, we will just be waiting for the final announcement as to what the final decision was agreed. I seriously doubt a split though. All the parties involved will try their best to avoid it.

What I'm sure of though is that by the time everything's clear and smooth, the price will soar very high quickly.

Ok your Birthday is Aug 2, well you have a great reason to celebrate if you really bought and still buying Bitcoin like you've posted because after the scaling the price will skyrocket, although the price of Bitcoin continues to dip so keep buying more for your coming birthday and enjoy knowing that you will make a fortune when everything is settled.

As for now, we still don't know what will exactly happen on that big event on August 1 which is segwit. But we are still hoping that after this event we will be expecting a change in rate from dump price going to a great pump which can mostly lead to bitcoin reaching its highest price value peak that we think. What we have to do is just wait and see the effect on bitcoin's price value after the segwit.

There is a strong probability for a big rebound once the scaling solution can already be implemented and there would no significant technical problems that can affect the whole Bitcoin network. Buyers would be back on the market when they can realized that things are already getting normal. And if Bitcoin is still fairly priced at that time, expect more big buyers to snap all available Bitcoin on the market.

This is actually nothing to be surprised about as the history of Bitcoin attest to this kind of cycle. And since we are all dealing with an open market where market forces are all dictating the price, then all of these 'abnormalities" can actually be considered as part of the game and in fact from a higher perspective can still be "normal".

The only thing I don't like is that it really hurts to see your Bitcoin go down in value...Smiley

Without a HardFork the main prediction here is that the price will skyrocket. In few months Bitcoin can be pricing $4500 or even more.

But seems things won't happen so fast, we need to wait what will happen right after August 1, maybe there will be a delay of days or weeks until things come back to the normal as we see today.

So is the hardfork 100%?
not sure yet but i know now the BIP 141 (proposed by bitcoin core) deadline is missed by the miners but there is another deadline which is in July 29 where the miners must activate segwit by BIP 91 (segwit2x) with lower activation threshold which is 80%. so, there is still a chance to halt the activation of BIP 148. well we wil see that in next few days.

It's nothing but pure FUD I wouldn't even worry about it . Nothing bad is going to jaooen. The only bad thing is what oeoe are doing by dumping. Good way to get cheap bitcoins I must say. Creating FUD like this for the weak minds to break under.

If you will buy bitcoin make sure that there will be no hardfork because if there will be, I predict there will be a dump after august 1 so if it started to stabilize by that time, buy. There is also a possibility of it going up to unimaginable prices if bitcoin hardfork is good so it is better to buy one week before august 1 but don't go all in on fiat.

Keeping all in bitcoin and keeping all in USD / Fiat is not a good idea. Sell some bitcoins now, see the market regularly and play with the news. Thats the best way to avoid loss in either case of bitcoin going up or down.
In my opinion. The concept you are talking about it would not work. If you really afraid that bitcoin will be goes to down would never pumps up. So sell your bitcoin. But a fool person will sell out there bitcoins. It is the chance to those people to buy more bitcoins. Keep it hold. After August the history of unemployed will be change if they goes toward bitcoin in these days.

Please just make sure you are using a wallet that gives you access to your private keys, and back them up in a secure spot!

I use Exodus and export my private keys and keep them in a safe location. An even better option is to purchase a Trezor or Ledger, especially if you have a large amount of BTC.
Yeah it would really helps if you are holding a large amount to keep it safe in trezor or ledger,
And make you sure that you don't have any bitcoin in any third-party wallet .

do not panic.
Panic things that we need to hid, because it greatly affects the decline. But it is also necessary to decrease in order to balance.

The price is about $1800 now for one bitcoins which is very  low for the past period of time.
This was actually expected as ppl want to play it safe so they cash out.
Price dumping before August first doesn't worry me, what really does is what happens after.

Hopefully it goes up or at least gets back to normal $2500+.
The thing is all altcoins depend on btc price (therefore altcoin mining). And since I'm mining I want it to get back up ASAP Cheesy

My main question is what version of Bitcoin will be best after the hard fork: the miner version or the BIP141 version?

I get the feeling a lot of people want to stay with the miners version to avoid rocking the boat even if that means a few miners having a stranglehold on the currency and possibly killing it in the long run.

The BIP141 version sounds more interesting in that it aims to reduce the power of a few miners and their ability to set transaction fees as they wish. On the other hand the initial lack of miner adoption might kill it at birth.

Is this correct?

I'm finding it hard to get useful information on this. Too many oracles, not enough analysts  Sad

Edit to add: This thread seems to answer these questions but it's 69 pages long  Grin
