The mass media always reports more on negative stories and will hardly rally behind good policies or bitcoin doing good in the world at large. This is the nature of disseminating news in our world today. Also the corporate media has fiat dollars behind it so will not back this disruptive technology as it should do in these trying economic times.

Media usually do bad publicity because bad news always caught the mind of the reader, that is how they can attract people to view their pages or listen to their news, therefore we should not rely on media alone and in order for us to verify the media always check in in the forum for accurate information.

Really? because I think media is also commonly publish good news and it also attracts a lot of people. Plus more because media compete with other media, I think the news is the news accurately displayed. Compared forums usually only issues that do not necessarily occur.

Good point!

Like everything else in life, including Bitcoin, you can focus on positive stories or on negative ones.

It really is a choice.

The "bad" stories can be excellent warnings too.
They are all the same, in media there are also publishers that are not telling the real score of the news and there are also what we called shit posters. I think it should come up unto us and we should more intelligent enough to evaluate what is the truth behind.

I think if that bad news in social media about bitcoin will have an impact to people, it 's just a little. If a person doesn't know or doesn't even have any idea of what bitcoin is, he won't be interested with that news. Why should he read the article in the first place? Right? And of course someone who knew about bitcoin won't believe it in any way, since he knew the truth. I think there will always be people who will defend bitcoin from those bad news and let others know what really it is.

yeah, these bad news are getting old these days. and the article is also old showing that OP may have some other purpose for sharing it because it is for some months ago before the rise.

besides if people are making their decisions based on the crappy news they read on a news site they better stay out of bitcoin.

That is the problem. How can we encourage them with saying just stay out of it. It needs to be corrected. There are people who dont know a thing about bitcoin and didnt even researched it because of bad advertisement. There should be a goal to make them understand and not be selfish to tell them just stay out of it. We dont want it to be like a plague.

I agree!
I think we all heard a lot of sensational "news" about BTC by writers who clearly did not understand it, especially in the earlier years.
Bitcoin topics are perfect for practicing our critical thinking skills, especially if our minds are open.

This is nothing new in Bitcoin & not alarming, IMO.

If you look at the news about developing private blockchains, however, you'll find that over $1 Billion has been invested in the technology & that even presidential candidate H. Clinton publicly advocated for blockchain technology this year.

well yeah, bitcoins usually have a lot of hhate on the media, to be honest a lot of people are made to think that bitcoins are bad so they avoid using their bitcoins
Media is mostly highlighting the negative aspects of the bitcoins. It sound like the bitcoin is criminal currency.
I guess this because the people in power doesn't want people to use bitcoins !!!

The online newspapers like to create sensational news about Bitcoin which is not necessarily true in the slightest in order to pull more readers to the sites and earn more from the ad placements. I think we need to take everything we read online nowadays with a big grain of salt because we are dealing with bad reporters and greedy news agencies and all this results in badly misinterpreted breaking news that only serves to create more confusion in the public.

Yeah journalist love to sensationalized to the point of exageration.  But the news in fact has some truth to it not in bitcoin but in people who are doing bad things like money laundering, child pornography, drug cartel.  So when people read this stuff, they think bitcoin is the culprit in this which is really not true.  And government should implement responsible journalism so those who exaggerate and coz more harm than good and found out to be biased should be arrested.

Some media are manipulated by the government and you know that "some" government in any specific country dont want Bitcoin, they don't get it that we have to advance as a human and here it goes were using digital currency they just want to stick to fiats and don't want innovation.

That is one of the points that I wanted to express in this post. That there are movements behind in which we do not know that uses media as a strategy to subtly attack bitcoins by destroying its image in public.

If there are some movements behind the black propaganda or bad publicity what are their motives then. Their motives and who are they is the big issue.
Who they are is simple. Whoever has a stake in btc not suceeding and has resources to push propaganda via the media or social media. So banks,  payment processors like visa,  maybe western union and moneygram,  maybe paypal. Maybe a giant lobby comprised of some or all of those.

OP when you think this is bad publicity I recommend to check articles written by the big newspapers and magazines around the world 2-3 years ago!
Compared to that Bitcoin is doing really good at the moment and gets a lot of neutral and positive news as well.
And what do you think had been written about electricity, the car, the internet first?? Wink
Don't worry too much.Even negative press can be good press.

Yeah, i agree with you. because I think the media have an important role and parties neutral as I mentioned earlier.
Haha true, several times I read the news about the shortage of bitcoin. But it turned create bitcoin prices rise Smiley Good or bad news depends we react. Just my opinion

we should not believe media always , now days a media news are not at all true. media wants their popularity  to grow ,so they will be publishing the new as their wish. it is not only with bitcoin ,any new on real life media does not show truth most of the times, it depends on the person to believe.

I think it's actually a good thing that some people on social media are giving bitcoins a bad name. If the viewer is dumb enough to believe everything that he could read on his phone, then he's stupid enough to be not in this industry. We don't need those type of people.

Media has given a lot of good things a bad name so this one isn't surprising at all.
