I used to believe that to be true. But I think we can agree (or okay I will agree) that yes, newcomers and new investors will always buy a recognized coin, simply because it is easier to buy and that was the coin they heard about and can find most resources on. But as they stay and learn more, they naturally want to also be an early comer for a new coin. To make the moon on their own or whatever fancy way of putting it they wish.

And the proof is every day here. People are asking about some random coin I never heard of. People are owning 100ks of Verge, things like that. So newer coins also benefit from new money, that is for sure.

Well, I believe that the coins above have a good future but an average cryptocurrency enthusiast like me couldn't afford to invest into those coins that priced more than a single buck. I got PRL from my recent signature bounty campaign and while it's still cheaper I bought some thousands of coins more because I believe PRL will give me more profit than investing higher valued coins that belongs to Top Altcoins today.

In altcoin there are many options but not all options will make us become successful, I think BCH, WAVES, XRP is a good coin to be a long-term investment.

Well holding XVG will do only good for you but once you hold XVG you must hold monero and pivx also. But there are many and many others alts that deserves to be hold for some years.

Actually ripple is one of the success story of crypto currency market and also it is such a good lesson for all of us that we should really learn how to be patient and just wait without taking any action. I'm sure that all the people who sold it when it was around $0.25 is suffering a lot now.

I think it's a very long time target of holding altcoins, and my estimate the average altcoin will increase all if we hold it for 2-3 years, only in my opinion if you want more profit you can hold XVG, because in 2 -3 years ahead the price will rise very high from the current price.
