Hey guys. Finally decided to get me some coins. I have about 10k to spare. any recommendations?
no. be happy because you have become one of the members of this forum. bitcoin and other altcoins will get better in the future.
if your capital is limited, and now the bitcoin price is very high, I suggest you start by buying eth or bch. or by joining a bounty program and getting a reward from there.

For now, it's not a really good time to join Smiley). If you join earlier it'd be better cause Bitcoin price was under 14k$ at that time but for now Bitcoin price is incerasing back very quickly. But if you still want to invest I think you should do it cause IMO before the end of this year Bitcoin price will reach to at least 20k$ so if you invest 1 BTC at the moment you'll earn at least more than 4k$ at the end of this year Smiley)

There are many choices before you to invest. But i would suggest you to invest in bitcoin as its demand is continuously increasing as new companies enter crypto related businesses more and demand for bitcoins is continuously increasing.

Bitcoin is the leader right now and for the foreable future.
Other coins are doing well.

Try to buy in at one of the dips.

But that said when BTC hits 50k this time next year it wont really matter whether you paid 13k or 15k .

Be prepared for volatility, but so far all the tests have made Bitcoin stronger over time.

Right now high fees and slow transaction times are issues which will be addressed with the upcoming lighting network.

Following people's advice without researching is a good way to get rekt

Very clearly and nicely stated. Theres always a risk to reward ratio. Greater the risk, greater the reward. But the question would be if we have the risk appetite and can we afford to lose it all. If we cant then we have to carefully evaluate our position against the odds and then, and only then, take an informed decision. Its our call at the end of it all.

No, you're still in good time to join the party because just this 2017 has begun to take the issue of cryptos as a global mainstream, and even the ICOs fever is also a very recent phenomenon in the field of investment.

It is difficult to find reliable information about the best altcoins to invest your money here, but if you have enough time you can find all the information necessary to make a decision according to your risk aversion, your investment horizon and investor profile.

Nooo, not too late. It's actually good amount to join the party lol. Umm in my opinion at this point it'd be wise to buy Ethereum other than Bitcoin. But only you know what's best for you. So be careful about what to choose. Good luck Smiley

From one point of view we may be 7years late but from another we may be here at the right time; all depends on how each of us looks at it related to our individual situations. Probably we were from the doubters category even a few years back as are some who even now think Bitcoin is a bubble or a scam after such a great run.

Buying bitcoin next year wont give you alot of profit. It might increase in value but not twice its base.
Best of luck

How sure are you that next year is the year for ethereum? No one can tell if what will happen on the prices of the crypto currency. It will really depend on the demand that the coin will have. Bitcoin's price will continue to rise on the next years and I don't think that Ethereum will be able to go over it's rate in the next years.

Truelly, no one can actually tell how next year will workout for ethereum or altcoins, but the high rise in bitcoin price makes it look like its too late to invest into bitcoin, therefore making a new plan for the long run.

Create a shortlist of the coins you are interested in and then do some deep research on the fundamentals  and prospects of the coin, such as the development team, the technology of the coin, the use-case (what problems will the coin solve), marketing and so on.

Well, it depends on what kind of knowledge you have in the crypto currency industry. If they are not enough, then there is time to study. But if there are no problems with this, you have a good opportunity for investments. But do not focus only on bitcoin, there are many alternative coins.

He's asking for a recommendation. And I think that recommending is base on ones knowledge so we might also call it an opinion. I do recommend ethereum because ethereum's system is better than bitcoin's. It just so happen that bitcoin is the first crypto to be acknowledge by the public giving it the edge over ethereum.

In regards to opinion, the other activities that one promotes should be considered as a gauge of how one's opinion is shaped.

Meepospammer here is promoting in his post signature an ICO that asks people go give sell their established Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, etc to buy a "P2PS ICO". Their website doesn't talk about what the P2P ICO token is, how its business model provides something tangible to the world.

This P2PS sounds like a ponzi scheme...would you trust the opinion of someone who supports a ponzi scheme?

Hello dear Mr./Ms/Mrs. HabBear,

Greetings.

Firstly, thank you for your criticism. We just wish it was constructive in nature rather than a baseless accusation.

At the onset, please allow us to bring to your kind notice that ALL of the points you have raised are clearly covered; briefly on our website (www.p2psf.org) and in greater detail within the whitepaper. Kindly find the time to review the same.

Secondly, after you have studied the information about our P2PS utility token offering, if you still find some aspects that are in your opinion not clarified from your perspective, such as our business model providing something tangible to the world, please feel free to let us know. We shall be delighted to address any and all of your concerns; hopefully to your satisfaction.

Moreover, we learn from criticisms of stalwarts like you who have much more experience than us in this forum, if not in the crypto-world. Therefore, please feel free to be as critical about our offering as you possibly can, but kindly be specific about what is really missing so that we can address those aspects proactively and productively for the greater good of mankind. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone on this forum who have guided us to grow from strength to strength to a stage where we now have Mr. David Drake as our Advisor.

Finally, with regards to your concern about the crypto coins acceptable during your participation in P2PS ICO, we would like to clarify that we have given a wider choice for anyone willing to participate out of his/her free will, unlike certain others who have only accepted ETH.

Look forward to your continued guidance, support and participation.

Thanking you again,
Best regards,
Team P2PS.

Hello again dear Mr./Ms./Mrs. HabBear,

Following, for your kind reference, is an opinion about our P2PS utility token from one of the industry leaders associated with Blockchain and Bitcoin since its very early days.

Sean Brizendine, on Dec 10 2017, while comparing P2PS token to Bitcoin stated that "the speculators are jumping ship. It could go all the way back down to $1000 and stay there for 5 years before we see $25k. This is why the best investments are in real startups like P2Ps Tokens. The average person can invest in a Bitcoin and loose or invest the same amount in P2Ps Tokens. They have to invest in Multiple Bitcoin to show any real returns where the average person puts $15k in P2Ps Tokens they will see each unit rise and be able to play a part in making that happen by utilizing the Network and building up more tokens."

Sean Brizendine is a Blockchain Specialist and Advisory Board Member of several successfully funded ICOs. Sean Brizendine's profile on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/sean-brizendine-a71634b8
