I ordered another psu to try until my server psu's come in and I can try both. I can't try the mobo without the 580 since it has no built in graphics, but at idle I would imagine the power draw with only 1 card installed would be a couple hundred watts at most.

I don't see how. I only have the 1 card, 1 ssd and nothing else plugged into the mobo with thre 550w psu.

Hi all,

New to the forum and new to crypto mining but I decided to jump right. Looking for a little advice. I know you guys need info to work off of so i'll post what I bought and what i'm doing and looking to do.

I have x6 Sapphire Nitro+ rx580 8gb
MSI z170a gaming pro carbon

I'm building a customer frame so while i'm working on that, i hooked up the motherboard, 550w psu which will ultimately go along with a 1200w server psu and a single 580 to get things loaded and started.
I loaded driver 17.3.4

The first issue i'm having is that the whole system is just randomly shutting down. I originally tried to make some minor changes in Polaris bios editor and copied the 1750 straps into the 2000 straps.
This first card that I'm 'trying with has hynix memory. Does anyone have any advice to setting up a hynix 580 for best hashrates/power usage?

As far as the power shutdowns, i'm not sure whats causing that. I don't have any overclocking and this base setup shouldn't be too much for the 550w psu, so i'm thinking maybe a hardware issue? once I get that sorted out, I will go through each card one by one and set them up for the rig before trying all 6. I know there have been some updates on getting 580's to run with 6 cards, is the go to solution still to copy the older driver folder into the new one?

Any advice you guys can give would be greatly appreciated.
Shut down means over power. I think your main power supply shuts down due to over power consumption.

so i grabbed a few MSI 570s 4GB and two XFX 580 8GB to play with and the cards are nice , 570s do 28-29.5 mhs at 2100 mem
the 580 does around the same

problem is even with afterburner lowering wattage by 100mv they still are stuck at around 1000mv , higer for the 580

the 580 consumes close to 200 watt at the wall, the 570s 120 ish , compared to 100watt from my 470s and 120 watt from my 480s.

Anyone know a version of  Wattmon the free tool that recognises 570s and 580s so we can get even lower offsets ?

It's not WattMon, it's the controller on the cards. XFX has NCP81022 - if they are the same as their non-ref 470s and 480s - so use MSI Afterburner.

yeah but AB only lets you undervolt by -100, these cards have a crazy high default voltage, they probbaly need to be brought down to -150

Ok now I know why my elpida mods didn't work and that's because the elpida/hynix IDs keep changing in different card models. sometimes elpida can be at 1 and sometimes elpida can be at 2. So turns out I never even edited the card properly Cheesy

Would realy appreciate it  Wink
This. This so much. I've never overclocked before / edited bios and I'm afraid if I do it myself, I will brick it Sad

Are you guys actually installing through the AMD installer?

I tried manually adding them in Device Manager, but it wouldn't find them. I installed the AMD drivers (Video+Audio) and it recognizes 6 but it crashes after bootup.

16.9.2 -> 17.4.3

what type of motherboard do you have? For me trought amd installer it doesnt work. You probably make some mistake in copying files. Probably you copied inf files in

C:\AMD\WHQL-Win7-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Crimson-ReLive-17.4.3-Apr17\Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF\
 by 16.9.2

but you only need to replace content of C:\AMD\WHQL-Win7-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Crimson-ReLive-17.4.3-Apr17\Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF\B313057

by

C:\AMD\Non-WHQL-Win10-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Crimson-16.9.2-Sep21\Packages\Drivers\Display\WT6A_INF\B307117

or

You did not select manually inf file from device manager.  Not working only point to folder for me.

The card model is the most popular card on this board.

Is that the Sapphire Radeon RX570 Nitro+ 4GB? Memory from Hynix or Elpida?

Can you upload that bios somewhere I will try to use it for gigabyte cards.

Sorry I was looking at PBE (forgot it lists 2), it's Hynix

Bios? Smiley

Hello All.
I was able to get 6 x RX-500 series running on windows 10 x64. After two days the stupidest thing I tried worked  Grin.
1. use DDU to clean the PC from any previous drivers.
2. Disable 4G decoding so you can log into windows (only  for Z170,H170, etc.)
3. Extract older driver for RX 400 series in Drive C: (I use 16.9.2 )
4. Extract driver for RX 500 series in Drive C: (I use 17.4.3)
5. Copy and replace all content from "C:\AMD\Non-WHQL-Win10-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Crimson-16.9.2-Sep21\Packages\Drivers\Display\WT6A_INF\B307117"  to "C:\AMD\WHQL-Win7-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Crimson-ReLive-17.4.3-Apr17\Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF\B313057" (Basically you copy the old driver over the new)
6. Install the VGA cards manually from Device manager in Windows pointing path to the new driver 17.4.3 in this case.
7. Reboot and enable 4G Decoding in Bios
8. Enjoy if it works for you.

You can try with different driver versions if they work for you. I`m happy whit the 16.9.2 for the moment but any driver that works whit 6 and more RX 400 series GPUs should work  Grin.

I know  that this solution sound stupid but it`s tested on 8 different rigs whit Asus Prime Z270-P and H270 Motherboards and works like a charm.
I`m pretty sure only handful of files need to be replaced but I don have the time to test more elegant solution.

Sorry for my English and grammar. Grin

Anybody tried this on windows 8.1 x64?
I do the same replacement of driver files, but there is no compatible model for RX570...

I'm running the rx580 8gb gaming x. How can i decrease the core voltage more. Msi afterburner limits me to -100mv. Would i have to flash the bios with that coded in there? Running 1750 straps 28-31mh

what memory are you using ? yeah MSI afterburner limits you to -100 mv  saphire trixx lets you do lower undervolts but I like msi after burner, whish it let you undervolt more
