Unless you wish to carry on with such an automated system, IO suggest employing NicehHash which is more sophisticated and in some cases, can provide higher payouts.  I dedicated approximately 14-16 months worth of hashra

Realy good news about power consumption  Grin

Can the 580 work with only 8pin power attached?

IF its anything like the 470/480 then you can put in a 6pin inside the 8pin and it will work.

Basically its not PCIe compliant technically.

My 580 uses roughly 5W less power at the same settings than my XFX 480.

Have you locked to voltage to the same level, or how you have measured the power consumption?

Can anyone confirm the assumption that RX 5xx are just better binned Polaris that means higher ASICs in general?
At my place the price between RX 470 Nitro and 570 Pulse are same right now, I yet to question RX 470 availability though, really tempted to buy a couple and test for myself

I just tested an RX 570 and got the same results as Wolf0 regarding power consumption.
28.3mh/s with the usual mod with 120W@wall.
It is about 3-4W less than a RX 470 on the same settings.

You can simply go with the newest driver+patch+bios mod.

What model and at what settings?

Thanks!

That IS the million dollar question.

I don't see a point of flashing it the other way since you can just mod the bios to underclock the 580 if you want to save power.

For gaming though, I see the potential benefit of flashing your 480 with a 580 bios.

We don't have a updated bios editor to work with the 5xx series for those not comfortable with hex editing.

I ordered an xfx 580 black edition,   Just wondering if the 16.9.2 drivers will work with
the new cards, and if not what version driver comes with the card?

That IS the million dollar question.

Well I've exactly those XFX RX 480 8 GB graphics cards. I wonder if I should try it out?

Seems pretty interesting though! Grin
