Well right now its a good time to start tracing transaction.  I was in the middle of withdrawing my 42 from Altilly when it crashed a few hours ago..  lol..  I don't know if livecoin and atlilly are connected with each other but with altilly as Greenpanda mention, I also wasn't to surprised and using their faucet was causing issue on my browser and also mining on Nicehash was acting up during the same time I was on altilly.   I believe this was an well organized attack on all platforms. Be prepared for another instance!!!

It sucks but I'm not that much surprised about the Altilly exchange "hack". First of all, their 5% investbox returns on BTC, ETH, USDT and LTC were suspicious as hell. Also, for many days, I've noticed a memory leak in my browser after long time being logged in. The delisting of XQR markets a couple of weeks ago was botched and pissed customers off. I saw there how amateur they were and it gave me the opportunity to get most of my fund out. Also around that time I've caused the LTC wallet to go into maintenance by myself just trying to get my LTC out. They didn't seem to have the funds on hand and I'm not sure what constituted their "safe storage"... I thought they would close at the very end of the month, I'm surprised that it happened on christmas...

Double Exchange-Hack Information Bulletins

We have bids on 42-BTC and 42-BTS on XBTS. But we need to greatly increase the amount of coin on those markets. We must also greatly increase the coin on the Xchange 42-BTC pair. Have announced our situation in the Xchange troll box. (And we are very lucky that we have good relations with devs on both XBTS and Xchange.)

One Problem: we must determine an exchange rate. (We can start P2P trades anytime)

Update: 26th of December 2020 - 01:25 CET

Dear Altilly users,

Earlier this week. We've noticed suspicious activities on our Altilly servers.
After rebooting and checking the servers, we've noticed the same activity and a new system user being created on our servers.
Meaning that the system was hacked above OS level most likely using recue mode during the reboot.
We were still unsure what was going on and decided to move things over to a new hosting provider.

During the process, we've lost access to our servers at our previous hosting provider, including the database, wallets and codebase of Altilly.
We are investigating what is going on and what has been saved so far.
We are not sure yet if funds are lost.
We are still waiting for final analysis from the current hosting provider.
We will keep you posted.

I wonder if the Livecoin people are the Altilly people?

tee hee -- I wondered who'd be first to suggest this

Edit:

Okay! Double exchange-hack! You can trade on XBTS and Xchange. Laser and I will work hard to keep info up to date, and that info will be posted on Bitcointalk and Discord.

Actually, a guy expressed some woe on Telegram yesterday. I pointed out that this is a community of long-timers. He immediately asked what the significance was.

Well, the significance is: it's a community of long-timers, players who run QTs, who understand P2P, who aren't gonna be freaked out over exchange-hacks.

It would take more then that to tap maple out of my tree!! I've posted this before reguarding uninsured exchanges. Coinbase is the defacto of insured exchange.  As stated from their website..

All digital currency that Coinbase holds in its online hot storage is insured. If Coinbase were to suffer a breach of its online hot storage, the insurance policy would pay out to cover any customer funds lost as a result.

Unless an exchange can offer any type of insurance...  You might as well give away your coins.  Local storage is highly recommended for 42-coin and unless 42-coin can develop an insurance based requirement to exchanges and maybe even offer insurance (hint)(hint) .. Any exchange can be to much of a risk, even if technology prevents any type of cyber crime, mismanagement can bring any exchange to their knees unless properly insured!!

LiveCoin Official: "Dear clients, we ask you to stop using our service in all meanings: don't deposit funds, don't trade, don't use API. We are under a carefully planned attack, which has been prepared, as we assume, over the last few months. We lost control of all of our servers, backend and nodes. Thus, we were not able to stop our service in time. Our news channels were compromised as well. At the moment, we partially control frontend, and so we're able to place this announcement. We're fighting hard to get back our servers, nodes and funds, we're working 24/7. News and next update will come up in the next few days. We're working in contact with local police authorities. We really do our best to overcome this issue."

As an exchange owner... I can not FATHOM how this could POSSIBLE happen... Just w-o-w.

Yup another 42-coin exchange bite the dust and this site was my favorite....42-coin have seen many exchanges go by and yet this coin will never surrender!!   42-coin forever!!!!!

hehe if that was your favorite 42-coin exchange ever, I'm confident you are going to cum your pants when you try FreeBitcoins.com/xchange. (If you don't, please let me know what we can improve and I'll be happy to have an open ear!)
