Crypt2skate it would appear that you do not have libboost-dev installed, use apt-get or synaptic to find and install this. Make sure all other deps are installed too. Hope that helps.

Thanks, I'll try that when I get back to my PC. I thought I had all dependencies met, but I guess I might have missed libboost-dev. Appreciate the help.

Quick question, is github.com/aeonix  the correct one to use? I see there is an aeon fork on github.com/iamsmooth which appears to be more recent. Sorry if this was already answered, I looked a few pages back and didn't find a clear answer

Yes, aeonix is the official repo, iamsmooth is smooth's repo where stuff happens before getting merged to official one.
Hi there, a newbie here!

i just bought some aeon, i already have my moneros in a paper wallet, which I generated with moneroadress.org offline. I see that it also alows creating aeon paper wallets? Am i right? Just changing monero for aeon the generated wallet will be for aeons??

Looks like it can generate Aeon addresses too, although the one currently running on moneroaddress.org seems outdated and you need to download the latest one from the git repository and run it locally.

Finally, i do not know how to check my moneros balance in the block explorer, just searching for my monero adress does not show the balance. How to know that my coins have reached succesfully?Even if the transaction has been completed.

Can somone guide me??

Thank you!!

One of the prominent features of the CryptoNote protocol is that you can't find your wallet address on the blockchain thanks to a mechanism commonly referred to as "stealth addressing". You need to scan the whole blockchain using your private view key to recognize all outputs that belong to your wallet address. Furthermore, your private spend key is needed to generate a key image for each output which tells you if the output has already been spent or not (thus telling you the correct balance of your wallet).

If you're not allergic to math, I highly recommend giving a read to the CryptoNote whitepaper:
https://cryptonote.org/whitepaper.pdf
Although it came with the shady launch of Bytecoin, I find the content genuinely sophisticated and fascinating.

Otherwise, Monero Stack Exchange is a very good source of information about CryptoNote and Aeon (which is also considered on-topic):

Bad blood may extend to aeons relationship to monero.  The monero devs have made no secret of their negative opinion of the exchange.

Probably you are right.

Some times ago I was told Cryptonote coins (Bytecoin exactly), Minergate and Hitbtc was established by the same swindlers...

Any plans for a pre-built linux package?

I can't get make to compile on UBUNTU 16.04 or 16.1. It errors out.

This might help you;)

Note the unconventional cAPITALIZATION!
If you have the donations fund you don't need pay a development team.
Try to negotiate with exchanges, HITBTC will list AEON for sure if you are willing to pay.

HitBTC already said on twitter they are going to list AEON. We didn't have to pay.

https://twitter.com/hitbtc/status/864491788299628545

Very good news if it will happens.
I asked guys who close to Hitbtc team to list AEON but I was told Hitbtc bosses don't like this coin or probably team behind it, this hate is very old and Hitbtc will never list AEON.

So I will hope they are changed their mind and in case of listing I will be really very glad Smiley

But if you can list AEON at big exchange like KRAKEN and trade it not for BTC only but for EUR/USD as well - it will promote the coin much better than any development team.

It would be very unusual for a major exchange to list a #136 coinmarketcap rank coin. I won't say it is impossible but I will say it is a lot more likely to happen if we grow the community and the value first.

2. The donations fund is about 450K AEON. At current market prices (which are very volatile), that's about 135 000 USD, assuming it could all be sold without crashing the market, which is unlikely. Can you pay a development team for that? No (well at least not for long). Can you pay bounties for some work? Yes, and we have done so for various things like mining and pool software. (Also offered for web site development but that was done for free.) I'm happy to offer more bounties if people step forward to do work. Failing that I'm happy to continue holding the coins in case they become worth enough to actually fund a good development effort. Will that ever happen? Who knows.

Yeah, it helped a lot. Thank you. I have been here only few days and I have already learned a lot.
My address still shows not found, but I guess its still early for any payments. I think I have been mining maybe 30 hours only with 2c 4t pentiium. This is what my cryptonote miner shows now:
Code:
[2017-05-19 10:59:50] thread 0: 615 hashes, 10.52 H/s
[2017-05-19 10:59:51] thread 3: 620 hashes, 10.49 H/s
[2017-05-19 10:59:52] thread 2: 628 hashes, 10.42 H/s
[2017-05-19 11:00:21] thread 1: 640 hashes, 10.45 H/s

If i read pool calculator correctly, that should be 0.13 AEON/day for 43 H/s

Your address still shows not found, because you didn't submit any valid hashes.
AEON don't uses the cryptonight algorithm. It uses cryptonight-lite.
Go to the Getting Started section of the pool and download a proper miner.
I use the CPUMiner (forked by Wolf). The first one in this page: https://github.com/Arux-BTT/CPUMiner-Multi-cryptonight-light/releases/tag/04082015
Did you mention your processor (to see what hashes you can expect)?

Thank you very much for kind welcome and huge help.

I'm looking forward contributing to community.

If you need a pool for mining, I can recommend these guys:

https://aeon.kryptopool.com/#getting_started

They have helpful information for getting your miner pointed at their pool correctly and I can vouch for being paid every time I mine there. Smiley

I have started with that pool, nothing earned yet. If nothing happens in the few days I need to check my settings. Smiley
I was fixing some issues with my pc so I was not mining all the time.

First I start aeond, wait for sync,
after that start wallet, input wallet name and pass, and I get
Refresh done, blocks received: 116
balance: 0.000000000000, unlocked balance: 0.000000000000

After that I start pool miner cryptonote-easy-miner_v0.0.3 with host aeon.sumominer.com and correct address of my wallet and I get mining started on 4 cores and I get (Hope Im doing it right):
Code:
[2017-05-18 20:45:56] Using JSON-RPC 2.0

Recently thehihoguy announced a new pool:
http://185.166.239.22/#

(Reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Aeon/comments/6bfvz4/new_aeon_pool_in_amsterdam_available/)

Let's spread the hashrate!

Thank you, I saw it already but thought it was some localized mining crew. Smiley I will look to it again.

Thank you all for help.[/code]

As smooth mentioned you can access stats on the website. In case of aeon.sumominer.com go to "Home" Tab and look at the "Your Stats & Payment History" part. Enter your view key of the wallet and press "Lookup". Now you see your hashrate and how much you mined already.

If you dont know your view key public wallet address anymore, either check out the file [walletname].address.txt in your aeond folder or enter "address" in your simplewallet.
https://wiki.bytecoin.org/wiki/Simplewallet_command_line_arguments_and_commands

About my pool, no its not local, its just a pool like any other:)
For choosing a pool its mostly about 3 things for me:
- Treshold of payment (Tab: Payments) which indicates how much you need to mine before the pool pays you out
- Total pool fee + core Dev donation (Tab: Home) how much the pool deducts from your mining for maintenance cost and supporting the devs. The total pool fee includes the core dev donation/pool core dev donation.
- hashrate, make sure the pool doesnt have over 50% of the total hashrate of aeon, else its bad for the decentralization, i.e. bad for aeon in general

hope this helps a lil with understanding

This 4_per_thread branch achieves further magical speedup Smiley

Well, with settings bruteforced, I've seen around 25% increase using half of my cores. It's useful for the ones who mines on PC which is in regular use. So, u get 50% CPU usage on the system, and maxed-out speed for these 50%. As for full CPU usage, I got ~15% speed drop over previous builds. Won't use this one.

Hmm, never observed that behavior. For me this branch always achieves speedup on my multiple desktop/laptop computers running Windows/OSX.
