Keeping the zero mixin transactions is a great idea and a good differentiation from Monero.

This is one differential I would agree with, mixins increase fee size, 0 mixin would allow cheaper transactions while anyone wanting guaranteed anonymity would use a higher mixin

It is an under-appreciated advantage of Cryptonote that these transactions are significantly smaller and more efficient than Bitcoin.

Nice update, smooth.  Would you please go ahead and open a dialogue with poloniex and ask them to pick AEON up again? I think it would certainly help grow the coin and the community.

We will ask them to reenable AEON (they still have it listed in their wallet but it is disabled) once the rebase is complete. The main issue they have with supporting it is the high memory footprint, which will be resolved.

i plan to move http://52.8.47.33:8080 at http://54.153.36.187:8080/# episode two !
i must move the pool once a year (because of AWS Free Tier), else i will be charged $20 monthly, very unprofitable.

my previous attempt has failed but this one should be ok
by default, on ubuntu 16.04, the unlocker module does not work with lastest async npm package (v2.0.1) but former package (v1.5.2) is ok so
Code:
npm uninstall async
npm install [email protected]
did the trick.

the front-end will be updated soon, core is running.
when all miners will move on http://54.153.36.187:8080/# (the sooner the better), 52.8.47.33 will be shutdown (stats will be lost, PM me if you want a record of your personal stat)

I was working on a website for AEON recently. Here is a preview: https://aeon.eurohash.net/

I used jekyll, no dynamic pages, so it can be hosted on a github. All content is shamelessly stolen from americanpegasus and smooth's roadmap.
Let me know if I missed something to add. Unfortunately I am not a writer and never claimed to be a pro css/html guy. I use a template I bought, so this markup is not unique. But it's better than nothing and AEON now is one step closer to more serious exchanges like poloniex.

It still requires some CSS fixes and responsive markup testing.

Since I use jekyll it's possible to host a website with custom domain directly from github. Currently I host it on my spare server just to show it and receive a feedback.

Wow...that looks really good

I second that, sammy007. Great website design. Nice flow. Easy to navigate.

Great work sammy007!

When it will be ready I will push it to github so you will be able to clone it and configure A record and github settings to serve it. Easy way, no need to launch and maintain one more server.

AEON new roadmap

The main focus of the roadmap going forward is to rebase against the current Monero. Monero has had many improvements LMDB storage of the blockchain, added features including view-only wallets, message signing, and many others. Monero adds the ability to prove payments using tx keys, which is necessary to trade on decentralized exchanges such as bitsquare.io.

The other major area of work in Monero is the upcoming GUI wallet, which is a brand new design. While AEON already has a GUI wallet using the old Neozaru open source, that upstream code is no longer maintained. Instead the Monero GUI will be ported to AEON.

Of great importance, Monero is in the process of adding RingCT, which hides the amounts of payments and improves overall privacy and fungibility significantly, with little to no additional transaction size (since RingCT replaces denominations). Some of the items from the existing AEON roadmap, such as the ability to do signature trimming and faster syncing of non-fully-validating nodes, are being incorporated in Monero's RingCT implementation, so those will be brought here as well. Finally, there are a number of other improvements such as better support for full-transparency (including spending) on view key wallets and proof-of-reserves. AEON will gain all of these features for free while it migrates to a newer, better maintained code base.

What will be retained in AEON? First of all, our lightweight and mobile-friendly PoW which allows verifying the blockchain around 4x faster or more. Second we will retain the ability to do lightweight non-anonymous payments without compromising privacy of other users (Monero addressed the privacy issues by completely banning these). Finally the pruning branch will be adopted for Monero's LMDB storage. The independent branding, development, and community will allow AEON to continue to thrive as a separate platform while sharing many of the technical underpinnings from Monero and Cryptonote.

I'll take TechorMarketing's question above as a suggestion and include the lightweight encrypted message proposal as part of the roadmap as well, and I am open to other suggestions on similar experimental enhancements.

Overall this gives us something closer to a Litecoin model (in terms of sharing more code with the upstream project while maintaining an indepednent identity and leadership, along with some new and experimental features), which will continue to be sustainable going forward despite limited development resources. Thus everyone can have a high degree of confidence that AEON will continue to be maintained and remain usable.

Keeping the zero mixin transactions is a great idea and a good differentiation from Monero.  As well, perhaps we should figure out how to effectively focus on letting mobile games/users interact with Aeon in various ways.  An easy to utilize API could allow iOS games and apps to offer Aeon/ions as rewards in mobile games and allow people to purchase in-game assets with Aeon/ions.  Perhaps if a mobile ad-server were set up that dealt in Aeon, and allowed businesses to purchase ads in Aeon that were then piped to participating mobile games, that profit could automatically be distributed to users/publishers of said games in a decentralized/pseudo-decentralized way.

Essentially, you can create apps which allow you and your users to get paid automatically without worrying about any middle men or profit cuts.  This creates built in utility for the token with a secondary layer/service.  I know perhaps I'm dreaming, so feel free to rebut the idea.  As well, I realize it would require a great deal of work/programming, so perhaps may be unfeasible at the current time.

Wonderful! I love the planned experimental enhancements. Thank you for your willingness to convert your creativity into code.

This roadmap is more than I could have possibly hoped for. Thank you smooth!

It is time for the community to start stepping up. Make an Aeon website if you have the skills to do so, get active on Stack Exchange, accept Aeon payments if you own a business and create new Aeon related services. Smooth is a wonderful developer and the community should show its appreciation by doing whatever it can to help.

abandoned ?

No. Working fine, so no bug fixes required since the last one. If more fixes are required, they will be provided.

Future development plans are under consideration. As I stated (maybe it was the Speculation thread?), I will make an announcement in approximately two weeks.

Any updates?

New roadmap still under development to be released Soon(TM)

Will this idea be applied to Aeon? I think it sounds like a great feature

The basic idea was to get a hash of the message mined into the blockchain (for example doing a tiny transaction and putting the hash of the message in the payment ID), and paying a fee. The mined hash is then honored by the p2p network to allow relaying that specific message for some limited period like two weeks. This doesn't give a direct incentive to the nodes but at least it minimizes the bloat on the blockchain and prevents cost-free spamming of the p2p.

AFAIK it only works with node 0.10, you can use PPA from nodesource https://github.com/nodesource/distributions

Code:
curl -sL https://deb.nodesource.com/setup_0.10 | sudo -E bash -
sudo apt-get install -y nodejs
Nodesource ppa didn't work for me on ubuntu 16.04. (node v4 was installed instead of v0.10)
I installed v0.10.25 and v0.10.46 with nvm but unlocker module crashed every time. I haven't had trouble with earlier ubuntu version. (Perhaps error is on m'y side, i didn't investigate further)

i confirm ubuntu 16.04 and cryptonote-universal-pool are not good friends.
i tried several version of node with nvm but unlocker module does not want to work

i give up, i'm out of time (holiday departure incoming Cool)
