CLI and GUI binaries for release 6 have been uploaded with the exception of Linux GUI binaries which are unavailable for technical reasons. Linux GUI built from source should still work.

Thank you for the update, I will test it during the day. Any idea why bittrex wallet is again in maintenance? Hoping not for long.
Also again a significant price drop...

@AngryWhiteWolf. It will be released if it is ready. I reckon no one would like to waste their time on building the binaries if they expect another update after a short time.

Sophia release point 6 might still be under observation for stability and security.

Ten days since Sophia point release 6 source code were published. Using windows wallet for AEON, when can we expect for binaries?
Thank you.

Ok I will join the community in Reddit and have the troops together to brainstorm a good proposal to have Aeon listed in an exchange with high volume. Maybe follow an exchange where Monero is also trading in high volume.

We might get the sympathy of the Monero community hehehe.

@estenity: I'm not overly concerned about GitHub at this time. The nature of git means that anyone who has cloned the repo (many people, even for a smaller coin like AEON) has a full duplicate and verifiable copy of the source code history. The main thing that is at risk are things like issues and pull requests, which aren't very large or important databases for AEON. (By contrast, XMR currently has over 200 open issues and 30 open pull requests. Many of those contain contributions from many different people, and some are active every single day. So losing access to this database would be a major disruption.)

@bbc.reporter: There is a community-run (crowd) funding platform for AEON now, which is linked on the web site. I have already stated that if proposals are well thought out and add value to AEON then I am happy to allocate donation funds to those proposals. That could include exchanges (or many other things).

Bittrex's wallet is already available for deposits and withdrawals. That is our biggest exchange but we need more.

@smooth. I reckon the community funds can be used to pay an exchange to list Aeon. Would that be a possibility? Can we have the community to talk about it?

Found a critical vulnerability in Monero, this vulnerability applies to all currencies similar in structure. Until developers fix, all coins will not be available for input and output on exchanges. It may take months, it all depends on the qualification of the developer.

Well I must sadden you that AEON is available to trade on https://tradeogre.com/exchange/BTC-AEON  and https://hitbtc.com/AEON-to-BTC  That is 2/3 of all possible exchanges Tongue   Of course we do need more of them for AEON.

Oh and that bug you are talking about was of course fixed months before it was announced in May.

hitbtc does not work. no deposit and withdrawal.

Deposits and withdrawals are open again on bittrex which is great. I'm using the GUI wallet on windows for AEON, when there will be binaries available for download?

I don't know, updating sophia to point release 6 is currently underway

also smooth seems to think that gitlab could be preferable ?

Thank you, smooth. Did you have some interactions with Bittrex's team when their Aeon node was under maintenance? What were their comments on Aeon?

I am looking at a new round of delistings and I am afraid our consistently low volume will make us delisted next. Sad

Also, how did Monero get listed in all those big exchanges? Maybe we should follow its footsteps hehehe.

Important security update release

Sophia (point release 6)

Dozens of upstream performance, reliability and security patches
Improved packaging for (unfinished/non-usable) Ledger wallet support
Several documentation improvements from the AEON community
Disable incorrect/obsolete DNS lookups

All users running nodes on the p2p network should update ASAP to prevent DoS attacks against the nodes.

All users receiving payments should update ASAP to protect against the cryptonote duplicate output coin burning attack described in https://getmonero.org/2018/09/25/a-post-mortum-of-the-burning-bug.html (if unable to update immediately, suspend receiving payments until updated).

Source-code only release for now; binaries will be added later.

Monero and, I am sure, Aeon have already fixed the bug. You should go to the other Cryptonote coins and the other Monero forks' developers, who some of them are very incompetent, and warn them.

If you are here to spread the FUD, then it is not working hehe.

Yeah the double counting bug was patched a while ago, but now we have another wallet bug. Smiley

And that bug has been patched, too. PR at https://github.com/aeonix/aeon/pull/60

From monero#4438

And yet, wallet is still offline on bittrex. If it's not that bug, then what is the reason?

It tells you how serious they are.  Serious exchanges had little or not time their wallets on maintenance while updating. Exchanges that dont care much have for days.

@AngryWhiteWolf. They are possibly testing the patch more rigorously before making deposits and withdrawals available again. Which is good because that would imply they are very careful.

Also, they might be working very closely with some Monero developers because some Monero wallets are also offline in many exchanges.
