CAN'T STAMP THE AMP
I have one question though. Say if Joe posted inappropriate pics and it somehow ended up in Bob's feed and Bob left the platform because of it - how would Synereo combat this potential problem since it's decentralized?
Good question. I want to know this answer too please.
What if, in order to join a particular social circle a certain amount of amp is put into escrow as per the smart contract. If rules of the contract such as spamming or trolling are broken, stakeholders in the circle receive the amps from the troll's escrow. The smart contract may include a provision for users within the social circle to vote with amps if someone is trolling and get reimbursed from the troll. Trolls may not be able to afford to keep trolling.
Also a troll may not be able to post in a particular feed unless smart contract conditions are met, conditions which prevent troll type scenarios.
Smart contracts are just protocols.
So the first question is to examine how a post "somehow ended up in Bob's feed".
Users are in control of the feed, based on who they are connected with (and to some extent, who your connections are connected with).
Tags will also help direct feeds.
So people will always be involved in this process, and can easily remedy "bad content".
If some spammer AMPs a post that ends up in your feed via a "friend's friend", then you take those tokens and block that contact or tag. So instead of being paid for pleasing your attention, you get reimbursed for their wasting of it. The tokens flow either way. Your friends/contacts will have to take a stand on that content as well, if they realize they have played a role in bringing it to your screen.
Other, stronger methods can be employed by sub-groups, and their moderators.
Keep in mind that there are groups that seek to control things so they are able to extract the value in our interactions. They will be promoting and exaggerating the scope of the "problems" so that people will give them the power to regulate them. This always comes down to a form of centralization. In that context, the answer is always the same: more centralized power for them. You only have to read the headlines covering facebook to see where this will lead. There are no good solutions there, and the results will lead to a less Free & Independent Press, which will reduce democratic freedoms.
