There was no "scam" in Bancor, but I agree it's a totally flawed idea, remnants of Keynesianism.

Since AMP is running on top of the Bitcoin blockchain, there is still a threat in the air should Bitcoin split into Core and Cash. Bitcoin Cash now got some serious backing, and it is very possible that Bitcoin Core loses a significant part of its hash power and therefore loses overall security.

Did you ever worked in a corporate environment? I did a couple years ago, and let me tell you, money flies around like dust.

I worked in the finance sector but we worked together with the accounting specialists, and let me tell you your average receipt/statement/payment order document was like 200,000$. And this was a relatively pretty small company involved in mostly real estate in the nearby region.

When we are talking about a global app that has infrastructure costs, marketing costs, and whatever else. The 4 million crowdfunding is nothing.

They will need more funds to kickstart the project. It takes a lot of capital to organize a project of this magnitude.

Still who knows maybe they are preparing for a big marketing campaign. I would not be surprised to see a huge marketing campaign for this token. If I were them I would go and market this app very heavily on existing social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter. And they need USD for that.

A big marketing campaign for any app could cost millions. They have raised already 4 mil, but that they just probably need for company related costs like hiring people, paying for rent, whatever.

Plus they also need to setup the infrastructure, buying servers and things like that. Money is burned very quickly, a good IT department with servers could cost hundreds of thousands.

So if they are preparing for a marketing event, which is very likely, then that would explain it.
