I'm not trying to convince them that is a dead end but leave true information so newcomers can come and see both sides, do their own research and come to their own conclusion
Unlike the Bcash crew that is just out to decieve everyone

you're a fucking troll paid, you only come here to cheat people who are interested in bitcoin cash with false information

People do not need your false help, whoever wants to see both sides can read the pro btc forum.

But in the btc forum they will not find anything, basically because they censor any discussion, the reason, they do not have arguments to debate. They just pay trolls like you and fill the forums with them.

Is segregated witness necessary to implement the Lightning Network?
Lightning Network (LN) uses payment channels with Hashed TimeLock Contracts. Both of those things are currently usable on Bitcoin mainnet without segregated witness.
https://segwit.org/is-segregated-witness-necessary-to-implement-the-lightning-network-6c4545a9f9f1

https://www.anythingcrypto.com/guides/segwit-bitcoin-lightning-network-explained
What is the Lightning Network

The Lightning Network is very different to Segwit. It proposes using smart contracts to create payment channels that only have to sync with the blockchain after a fixed amount of time. e.g. multiple payments might be processed off the blockchain, then all of them added in one blockchain transaction. This raises security concerns about users creating fake payments - which is why Segwit also needs be implemented (as it solves this security issue). Often Segwit and the Lightning Network will be discussed in the same threads because of its reliance on Segwit.

Tek you know all this...are you part of the game?  Wink   Tongue

All we are doing is chatting, while waiting for the inevitable,
BCH will become defacto bitcoin...segwet free.

Lightning network requires just a malleability fix it does not need to be segwit it just happens that segwit is the best fix available

Yes it will work without segwit or a malleability fix but the smart contract that holds the funds securely on chain is identified by it's transaction id it will work just fine without segwit or a malleability fix the only time a issue would arise is if the opening transaction gets affected by this bug and would result is total loss of funds nothing more and this would be a deal breaker

reason bitmain etc do not like segwit is that it blocks their use of covert asicboost

segwet is more than what you said in your opening comment..dont care about you now saying, it is the best fix available...you could have said that before, but you choose not to, you choose to lie saying it only served one purpose.... and make out i knew nothing...

you know fine well...no segwet ,no ln as loss of funds would be a deal breaker as you just said.

then you say...reason bitmain etc do not like segwit is that it blocks their use of covert asicboost
so another purpose of segwet..other than malleability and using to use ln... Cheesy
so much for it only serving one purpose as you claimed earlier.

One of the proposed malleability fixes for BCH moves the signature out of the transaction area the exact same way as segwit with the only difference being that on BCH it's just moved permanently and everyone is forced to the new system while segwit just moves it to a separate merkle tree if the user chooses to use segwit and the user still has the option to use it or carry on using  legacy addresses with the signature still in the transaction area

The only reason bitmain etc do not like segwit is that it blocks their use of covert asicboost which takes away their advantage and also gives them incentives to not include some transactions which also explains why bitmain mine so many blocks with little to no transactions in them compared to other pools now BTC is able to use overt asicboost that gives a similar advantage to covert bit it also works with segwit and removes the incentive to produce empty blocks and is public knowledge as to who is using it there is a block explorer here with blocks found using overt asicboost https://asicboost.dance

It is impressive you are still trying to talk sense to these fucktards. You can't make them see what's going on while they are paid to spread FUD. On the other hand we shouldn't be letting them FUD neither because crypto community is so new, some people will get deceived by these clowns eventually.

I remember when I was neutral to this whole bcash unlimited-Bitcoin debate back then. One of these retards was advising me to not read reddit too much. Grin I read even more and I see who's evil now.

I think this statement isn't accurate, is it?
Quote

The lead developer for Bitcoin Cash, Amaury Séchet...
Amaury is lead dev for Bitcoin ABC.

Bitcoin ABC is Bitcoin Cash, ABC controls the project and decides what is happening

Amaury was supposedly paid for 1 years work by bitmain to fork it and get it off the ground

Bitcoin Cash was a contingency plan bitmain is getting their main business taken from under them there was talks of a PoW change and bitmain needed something they could control so their miners couldn't be made obsolete.

The same is happening now with monero fluffy pony tweaked the algorithm to brick bitmains cryptonight miners so they forked off monero classic that supports bitmain (is paid for by) so they can continue to have a coin that is in their control and they can guarantee it's future.

Well, I thought Bitcoin ABC is just a client for Bitcoin Cash along with Unlimited, XT, and few smaller ones, no...?

ABC calls the shots though the others just have to play along

ABC is kind of like the official client and the one every one uses unlimited and xt don't really get a say

The fixed HF schedule is set by ABC and it's ABC that dictates what gets added therefore ABC is BCH

Unlike core and the other Bitcoin clients where the community gets to decide ABC just does what it's paid to do

There is a huge amount of people that supports cash but not the enabling of new opcodes and I expect another split to happen soon 0.17 has been out for maybe close to a week so far and it's showing so far nobody has "upgraded" yet

ABC is indeed dominant client, but BUCash is doing pretty well (470 nodes, 31,8% of the network) https://cashnodes.bitcoinunlimited.info/
Also, nodes are being upgraded, actually - 87 nodes have 0.17 installed.

Nonsense. I've made my opinion clear numerous times. Didn't seem worthwhile to go through it yet again.

In a nutshell, The SegWit Omnibus Changeset is about the worst imaginable solution to a nonexistent problem.

Malleability is fully understood and is not a pain point.
If indeed a fix to malleability is desired (a debatable point), separating the signature from the remainder of a transaction is a worthwhile candidate for consideration.
But the gyrations required to make this a (*ahem!*) so-called 'soft fork' has fundamentally undermined the entire security model of the system.
That's not even starting with the cruft other than segwit which was bundled into The SegWit Omnibus Changeset.

Ultimately, this entire escapade pushed back a scaling solution by two years, and has led to a premature crest of the last wave of adoption - also likely pushing back the next wave by perhaps two years. Hopefully, this black period does not provide a big enough opening for the vampire squid to prepare a meaningful counterattack. I have my doubts. Time will tell.

I could go on, but that will suffice for a start.
