kudos to anyone who had the balls to lock up btc on viatbtc. i don't think it'll ever reach those prices again.
so presumably we have to wait for a block to be mined before we move our bitcoins?

it doesn't exist yet so no. there are futures options on the chinese exchanges like okex and viabtc. i don't know how much possible relevance those prices will have when it's real.
So far its near its all time low even before it launched and will just keep dropping

I can decide to keep the file then windows stops it running and needs extra steps to say you want to run it
Since im only wanting to transfer my bcc to kraken after ive moved my btc to a another wallet seems a waste to download the entire blockchain although im 2 thirds done now

So will there be two coins immediately on 12:20 UTC time on August 1. or is there some sort of lock in period or something of that sort ?
BCC will exist once the first Bitcoin Cash block has been found. This can not be before 12:20 UTC time on August 1 but it could be hours or days later depending on how much hashing power there is.
Also how exactly do I use the Bitcoin ABC client to split the coins? I send a transaction with some flag and then another without the flag?
You just copy the wallet.dat file to your Bitcoin ABC data folder after the fork has happened and any transaction you will do will be only with your BCCs.
like all other airdrop coins and this one will last shortly, many will rush to sell it immediately. What will be after few months this is different story, this will be only best known altcoin, possibly. It will be very hard to see 1/10 rate. 
If BTC goes over 3k which is very possible during this summer, just do not expect much from BCC, nor any other coin.

yes. it wouldn't be of interest to the chinese miners if it wasn't. it's their little nuclear option for the future.

way easier to send your bitcoin to a paper wallet now. after the fork send it back to your regular bitcoin wallet. then all you're left with is bcash private keys.
no security worries and no hassles.

I still do think there will be some serious bounced back type attempt if people will hurry to dump for free money. I have changed my mind and now I will keep it holding and will take risk on BCC. This can exist as altcoin one with high value after came into existence like few previous did.
To me it is just free coins.
I don't really know if I willd hold, or just sell everything ...
