Noone really knows other than BITMAIN. But there are a lot of potential guesses that could be made. all will be revealed once they give more details.

When I read the S1 upgrade sentence on page 1, I understood it to mean the HEATSINK is compatible with the S1 board, and they may sell the HEATSINK as upgrades to current S1 owners as an upgrade.

It wouldn't make sense otherwise.

of course, not. they will sell you S3 boards, additional fan and box(?) to attach to the current heatsink.

You actually believe this is what they have in mind?

On Time Delivery, if not Pre-Shipped

BITMAIN does have a good track record of doing business right. BITMAIN created a new standard of doing mining device business in the community. ANTMINER is the first ASIC mining equipment in the community that had provided certainty to our customers and taken all the risk of failure or delaying risk on ourselves. We collected payments later than lots of pre-sellers, but our clients get the miners earlier than most of the pre-order buyers.

As a philosophy, no over promise is easy to talk about but hard to think and act accordingly.

(-snip-)

Stay Tuned about the S3 Sales

We will open the sales of S3 in about 3 days on BITMAINTECH.COM, and the early batch is expected to be delivered very soon.

Hard to claim on-time delivery if they are wrong in the announcement of when sales start. It doesn't say that they will announce price ... it says that they will start sales. Promising to start sales by a certain time frame and then no sales and no shipping is definition of vaporware, is it not? All hype and excitement and then no communication. Boo! If they cannot deliver, they need to keep up their reputation and say so. Tired of waiting for deceitful delay. It is a publicity stunt to get people excited to pay more for batch one when they finally are able to offload final S2s to unfortunate impatient people.

As they say in their own announcement "Is easy to talk". Perhaps not. Now they will not even talk.

Nothing to see here. Moving along, sadly.

I like Kuwait-1c/kwh, but the source is from 1966(??).

Not sure if Bitmain would have a lot of clients in Kuwait, who knows. Maybe it could be a good place for mining farms.

Not all of us live in China with subsidized electricity prices.
I live in northern europe and we have 0,12$ residential without any subsidies.
i pay 0,08$ as i got a 1man company registered and get commercial pricing.

There is a lot of variation depending on where you live. Just have a scan of this list:

For example, most of the EU, which represents about 500million people, is over $0.20c per kWh.
