Even better price today on the Corsair CX 750W power supply today if you don't mind rebates, at Tigerdirect.com (item C13-CX750M)

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7564404&CatId=2533

$99.99 for power supply - $20 coupon - $10 Corsair rebate - $10 Corsair rebate - $20 Tigerdirect rebate for spending $100 = $39.99.
You do have to add an additional $20.01 of whatever (ethernet cables, switches, fans, etc) to your cart to get it over $100 since the coupon will bring the cart down to $79.99
The rebates are stackable.

Cheers!

Estimates are just that.  Estimates.  That's why I don't trust them.  Especially when they don't disclose how they estimate!

Mine is not an estimate.  It's what things are NOW.  If more hashpower is not added, it's how it will be next difficulty change.  Obviously hashpower will likely be added, which will increase it.  But considering we're 3.5 days from next change (at current hash power), I don't see it jumping from 23.6% to 30%.

In case you're wondering how I know, my M's Pool Monitor (see sig) has the calculations built into it based on the block info from blockchain.info.  Take the timestamp of the most recent block, subtract it from the timestamp of the block immediately before difficulty change, and divide that into how many blocks have been solved.  As of now that works out to 8.09 minutes a block.  Scale that to 10, and you get a 23.6% increase.  A little bit of math and I can predict the next change will be on 6/29 at 07:47 ET.

(This also means the closer we get to difficulty change, the more accurate the value is.)

M

Your estimate seems to have been on the money so to speak, or close enough at any rate.

That's because it's not an estimate! Smiley  It's pure math..

23 hours away from next change (06/29 @ 06:16 ET), 8.07 mins between blocks, puts us at 24.1% increase to 16,702,098.935.1.

sent an email to bitmain about the facebook thing and the first reply I received said it must be a scammer. An hour later I received this:

Hi,
We are so sorry for the confusion, maybe my colleague was saying something on there, will contact you via this email later.

Best Regards

Kia ora!
fyi I disagree with the difficulty estimate.  I don't trust any site, I do my own calculations based on data from blockchain.info.  I'm seeing a current difficulty increase of 23.9% to 16,676,044,930.66.

Current time between blocks is 8.07 mins.

Change is slated to occur around 7:10 ET on 6/29.

M

Bitcoin wisdom is normally spot on and is the most accurate difficulty prediction site I have found, and it's predicting a 30% difficulty increase.

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

+1 They have the best difficulty prediction.

mdude77 if you don't trust difficulty estimates you shouldn't be in the mining game imo.

I'm still sad that the BITMAINtech Facebook page was a scam, he really really wanted me to send him my BTC though.  He kept telling me that this was my only chance to get an S3 or they would be sold out until Jan. 2015!!!!

The real BitmainTech Facebook page is here:

https://www.facebook.com/Bitmain.Antminer/timeline

I'm kind of sad though, because there were a few comments on the scam page telling them thanks for taking their BTC and letting them pre-order.....  Sad

Yep it is sad indeed. I've seen enough scams over the last year or so - it's a shame the lowlife are drawn in to bitcoin so heavily.

With bitcoin you need to think it's like cash - untraceable - irreversable - ask yourself - would I trust this person my cash if I met him as a stranger in the street? Or might he just run away with my cash?

wth!!!
they pushed the release back again

Makes sense  they are still selling s-2's   ….

So    we will just have to buy out those s-2's..

Anyone want them?

as for diff jumps i get 16.5 or 16.8

thats what i mean, they pushed the ship date of the s2's to the 30th on website.. are they pushing back all s2 deliveries or just the orders they actually have then? or am i over reacting

I think you're overreacting. The S2 ship date is updated on a rolling basis and says nothing about the S3.

S2 ship dates are updating daily now.  Mine shipped today.  When I bought it 2 days ago, it said it would ship today.  Buy on today, it ships Monday.

Where is Bitmain making these rollout timing announcements?  Is it in this thread?

16,797,892,192 (+24.77%)

Better than the 30% it was displaying a few days ago.

Actual Diff increase prediction I would put at ummmmmm...... 22.45%

Then 26% on the next one, possibly higher.

Basically, from simple maths, 1 CX750 can run a 180GH/s S1 and a 500GH/s S3 with no problem?

S1 normal speed <--- 360W
S3 normal speed <--- 390W

360+390=750

Did I do anything wrong here?

You math is correct. But in practical case you need to allow some free room in between the power supply output and power consumption.
There 360 and 390 are rated power consumption from the manual and they can be lower or higher slightly for each device.
So, I will advice you not to load one S3 and one S1 in to a 750 Supply.
Most probably you may need to undervold and downclock your S1 in 2 months and that will make you run if S3 is not overclocked.
Better take a decision after you secure the S1 and S3 if you already bought the 750 Power Supply Unit.
Else buy a Dell Server PSU and mode it or buy an already moded server psu. Better stick to 1000W or above.

Cool! I got the cx750 for my s1 already. Probs under lock once I get my hands on an s3.

I don't know specifically about the CX750, but with most Corsair PSU's I have used this would not work.  I know it's not advisable, but it just plain may not work at all.  It seems if I load a PSU with multiple miners I need to be at least 10 -15% under the rated wattage or the PSU will just turn on and then off as if overloaded.  Sometimes this is solvable by starting one device, letting it warm up, then adding the second.   But there seem to be safety mechanisms to prevent you from pulling too much juice.  I always try and be 100-200w under the PSU rating.  Then I don't have issues.  For what it's worth....

the sweet spot for psu efficiency is about 75%-80% ..

Hash power improvement on hardware can't keep up with the diff.

As someone said above, no ROI, no care. And it looks like it will be the case.

you sir are likely correct....er due to bank issues...i'm a legal miner in usa (sigh) have to pay for mining profits
as income (gross income 25% taxes like the rest) er those of you not in my boat run away till hopefully they
fix these IRS guidelines from 2013 to something more sensible in 2015 (i think they will..just say at that point
2015 gee IRS it was a very very good year if you wan to report) heh Smiley

anyway MY ONLY angle is that I can get off 25% in real $$$ towards actual taxes paid thru equip
depreciation (and have credits on such from last year) so i got a spondoolies sp30

w/o being in my situation it makes NO SENSE to get equip in the foreseeable future imho in order for BTC
to survive this massive equip dump and difficulty rise the price MUST go up for BTC thru increased
demand or we are all in trouble

and yes I may barely break even on the sp30 ROI wise due to my above (sigh so lonely) position of er ahem
being a legal miner (i feel so dirty)...but i suspect after all is said and done and it probably will end of life
by Dec 2014 at the rate of equip dump i will take a loss

so yeah any equip you buy at this time thru fall will likely be a loss vs just buying btc imho ...it may level
off etc after fall but I think it is gonna get really really ugly this last 1/2 of the year

but then again they are such 'cute' little boxes..the s3's ...nice whirly sounds...pretty LCD's so cuddly .

ack must resist ..its a trap ack

Searing

A. For all new purchases of computer equipment, you can deduct up to $105,000 of the actual purchase price, under what’s called Section 179 of the IRS code, which has to do with equipment depreciation – as long as all of the equipment is purchased by December 31. This is for any business of any size. http://www.startupnation.com/articles/small-business-tax-advice-computer-deductions/

it seems that maximum deduction is $25K right now (for 2014)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Section_179_depreciation_deduction

However, congress just voted to increase it:

thanks for telling me.

Just make sure there is nothing flammable near by if you are going to do that long term.  I have seen this go very bad.

I am running 3 S1 on a 1200 watt PS Silverstone Tek ATX12V/EPS12V 1200Watts 80+ Gold
power to the wall is 1100 watts.

All of my S1 are over clocked to 400 giving me on average 200GH. I did add a second fan to every S1.

Ya, I did ensure they were not near flammable items and added cooling.  No one likes an electric fire.  I did end up re-adjusting their clock speed to pull less power.

I dont exactly think 'stupid cheap' fits well in this situation as both brands are generally reliable even with their 'value' PSUs and still not the cheapest option.  Additionally in the long term a higher rated Platinum PSU running closer to 50% load would be more cost efficient.  This was more a novice, 'I wonder if this will work' moment(regardless to the consequences of blowing any PSU's)
